The best milkyway video I’ve seen this month, will taking tracked images of the milkyway bring out more detail of the milkyway during astronomical twilight and maybe even make it possible to image the milkyway during nautical twilight, where I live in southern Scotland our darkest nights this month are nautical twilight and it’s supposed to be clear skies on Friday night so would love to do some tracked milkyway imaging.
Thanks Allan! Trackers help get the best results when used in dark conditions. If you're shooting during blue-hour, you can be more flexible with your settings since there's more light. A tracker will definitely help you get more quality, but don't expect a huge difference. Shooting in dark skies is a must to get the max. amount of detail!
Really enjoying these milky way videos. Is the seminar this Sunday going to be recorded? It is father's day and Probably a good bunch of us are going to be tied up with that! Don't want to miss it but family comes first!
Thanks for your video series....very helpful. I don't have a tracker yet, but am considering the MSM. One thing that concerns me though is getting a good polar alignment. I am unsure of which among the free applications would work for Southern sky polar alignment.
Thanks for the feedback! The MSM is a very good tracker to start. Polar alignment is easy using the laser. However, if you are in a country where lasers are banned like Australia , you would have to buy the extra scope and wedge, and for that amount a Standard tracker could make more sense if weight is not a concern. We'll discuss a lot about this on this Sunday's live webinar!
I've watched a few of your videos but there are a few things not being mentioned in them. Shooting a pano with a tracker of the Milky Way you need to reset the tracker back to the original position. Then rotate the camera to the next position for shooting your pano. Not sure if this is mentioned in your course or not. I do enjoy your images though.
That can be confusing. When you shoot a pano with a tracker, you only have to relevel your camera every few minutes. The tracker doesn't actually move or you'd lose your alignment
