1. Insulin resistance cause eg pcos IF Strength training muscles soak up glucose Combine protein fat vs carbs it high fibre Eliminate processed Wheat sugar 2. Lentil better than beans chickpeas 3. Add in low GI alternative add good fats back avocado olives eggs fish cheese Add fibre chia Improve sleep reduce cortisol
Hi Autumn will you please make a video on what carbs to eat for those of us that are insulin resistant? And which carbs have a higher fiber? Also just wanted to say thank you for sharing all the information. I really enjoy your videos. Thank you
???? I am a 77 year old woman stroke survivor. Doing IF for several months losing 1lb a week Cannot do much exercise but can do passive ones. You have given me much encouragement from your videos. I am type 2 diabetic . ????
Hi Autumn, I found your channel recently, and I've been going thru and watching many of your older videos (as well as the new ones, too!). I've been enjoying watching these livestreams on the replay, reinforcing some things I already know, and also learning lots of new stuff! Thank you! ❤
GREAT Video again Autumn, so interesting (I could seriously listen/watch you ALL day) In your next video I would love you to address Collagen, do we need it, how often and how much. THANKS!! (ps, your bone broth chilli was yum!!)
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge Autumn, I’ve learned so much from you over the past few months. You have greatly improved my quality of life, thanks for being you!
Ya the carb sensitive thing happened to me during pregnancy and post partum I went from being skinny eating everything I wanted but even most the time I was eating pretty healthy my whole life to gaining about 80 lbs! And I tried to not gain the weight while still being able to nurture my body and my baby during this time. Drs just tell you don't gain a ton of weight but they never tell you anything they crush your confidence and make you feel embarrassed and don't tell you what to do how to fix it or prevent it and I asked them because my family does have a history of some of these things. I really wish drs would tell you these things, i had no idea it was going to affect me like this I couldn't understand why all the other pregnant moms only gained 20-30 lbs I felt so defeated and embarrassed it was very mentally toxic for me and it's so frustrating when you go to loose weight after the baby and can't or only loose 10 lbs but can't get the rest off. The great thing is autumn's tips have helped me so much it's truly a miracle! It works
Hi Autumn, loved your videos. I wanted to find out if there is a known reason why I may feel a little nauseous after breaking my fast (14 hr daily fast). I usually have my coffee (half cup water with half cup whole milk, or a dash of cream), hard cheese, one third cup nuts and seeds, one egg, some times a couple of whole wheat crackers with avocado on top. Thank you.
Love this! Thank you Autumn! I would love to see more videos on carbs sensitivity. I love your programs but that’s the place where I’m struggling in right now. I can’t seem to find where I am on the spectrum of carbs sensitivity. And I was wondering if you have any advice?
Thanks so much! From Rochester Minnesota. I love your advice, it seems to be much more practical than those strict no carb diets. I’ve been walking around 10,000 to 11,000/day. I will try to add in weight training. I’m making my way through your videos so I have not checked them all yet, but I would love advice about strength training w/o fancy machines.
I was born allergic to carbohydrates, I couldn't consume mother's milk or formula. Soy milk was hard to find in the eighties, so they kept me going with broth when they have to. I cried constantly and vomited too. My poor mom! I always thought I grew out of it but considering all the health problems I've had even when I'm at a healthy weight I'm pretty sure I'm carb sensitive. I've already started a diet, but it's good to know your body. I need to research this LOL
Autumn, I love nerding out with you on nutrition science. Your recipes are the bomb, and so satiating. Makes the IF so easy for me. Having my Keto Chai Latte this morning while watching this video. Tried your Matcha Latte recipe with unrefined coconut oil and got a stomach ache. I used to have this problem when using MCT as well. Any idea why this would happen?
oh my gosh. im only at the beginning but youve mentioned twice how this can change a lot for women. i was always slim and muscular. im short 5'2" so every pound i gain is super obvious on me. i never struggled eith my weight growing up. my entire family is slim. no obesity or diabetes so i wasnt expecting this at all. i was 120 and fit before my pregnancy in 2020 and by my second trimester i exploded in weight. i thought i was being healthy and ate "whole foods" but it was oatmeal, etc every morning 😳 i did have fast food and milkshakes very occasionally but i was not overeating at all. i have not been able to lose weight back to prepregnancy since then. ive now had a second baby and also gained a ton of weight during that pregnancy. i CANNOT lose any weight under 140 yet i should be 110-125 max. ive wanted to try keto and carnivore but im worried that going from glucose to fat for fuel would affect my milk supply so i havent yet
Hi from Australia, a bit late to the party but am enjoying all your content, very specific to me . Giving ITF a go, going well so far.Thank you for all the info .
I feel caught between a rock and hard place. Obesity and diabetes are quite significant in my birthfamily (both sides) and at young ages. I’ve managed to avoid both…. BUT as mom to five exceptional elementary age children, I’m STRESSED and recently diagnosed with HPA Axis dysfunction (flat curve). I’ve learned that those who have this dysfunctions do better with carb cycling daily… but those added carbs make it hard to lose weight. I feel trapped.
This is interesting to me. I would like to one day at least enjoy a small baked potato or a slice of regular pizza, once in a while. Not now, too many goals to hit first. I do have poor sleep quality right now. Even turning off electronics earlier. I fall asleep ok, it's staying asleep I'm struggling with.
Wonderful video. Thanks so much. I'm so carb sensitive and most people just don't get it. Tell me lentils and chick peas are fine even though they aren't for me. Thanks for the clarification.
How long has this sort of information been understood? I'm wondering if this was known several decades ago when our parents were younger, or if this is something that only the current generations are able to start taking advantage of
Idk if this related but I would guess Birth control has something to do with PCOS. During my time having the mirena my health went down and I did develop a cycle on my ovaries. Praise God I took it out it healed and I was able to have two babies
I also have trouble sleeping. I don’t feel sleepy unless I eat a lot of carbs. but then I gain weight because I am carb sensitive. I don’t know what to do.
Hi Autumn, I’m 75 yrs old and I find I’m gaining weight around belly and struggling to get it off. I exercise but off course it’s not as hard as a women in 20,30 or even 40. How do I address this. I think I’m definitely insulin resistant. Any ideas?
I strength train first thing in the morning . You said it’s best to fast but I heard your body goes into a catabolic state when your working out ? And that you need carbs to feed the muscles ? I’ve tried fasting and eating before. Wondering which is better for fat loss goals
Help! I started intermittent fastingast month and I believe it has caused my cycle to come over a week late! (Embarrassing but I need help). Is this common for women? Has anyone else experienced drastic change I their cycle 🤦🏾♀️
I’ve done the same thing. Check out Dr. Mindy Pelz. She’s got some great videos on fasting for women-specifically around your menstrual cycle and hormones. She’s also a great reference on IF in general. I hop this helps.
I took a plan b pill years ago, it loaded my liver so much that it stopped my period. Kept taking pregnancy test and it all came back negative, I was so stressed. My doctor recommended I went on a diet, after 2 weeks my period came back. It had been 5 months since I've had it! Your body's healing, it's regulating itself. This is a good thing! Don't let it stress you out.
Hi Stan, you can adjust her playback speed to make it slower. Tap your screen when the video is playing, click on the three dots in the upper right hand corner, and in the menu change playback speed from “normal” to .75 speed.
Personally I think it depends on the source of the dairy. Regular dairy milk isn't really healthy and could probably cause inflammation but the grass fed butter, whole plain Greek yogurt, raw milk etc those are great and unless you have a diary sensitivity I don't believe those cause inflammation and I have severe inflammation issues and have been told countless times by nutritionists and dieticians to go in an antiinflammatory diet (I do it and then quit when it's over and need to get back to it) for me that's just no processed foods or sugars like at all and that includes processed dairy. I really only consume the yogurt I mentioned, grass fed butter and cottage cheese. No other dairy and I'm golden! I even do have some icecream and chocolate and for me that's fine. Depends on your individually tho and you just gotta see what works best for your body. Try the elimination diet and see what you're sensitive to!
Hi! I was told whenever I take my vitamins and supplements that it may raise my insulin levels. Would taking these break my fast? I have tried to take them during my first meal of the day, but I become full earlier because I’m drinking water with the vitamins. So I don’t feel like I get satiated whenever I take them with food. Thanks! I appreciate you! 😊
I feel keto would be good for me but I fear if I eat something starchy or not good the weight will pack on. I also have a hard time getting to the keto since I always crave sugar and carbs when I try :(
Ever since I was about 7 when I would wake up with cold sweats and not able to be coherent. Sugar tolerance showed I had more than enough insulin, too much so! Could Not eat candy or sweets growing up.
Love your livestreams! 🥰 During my 4th pregnancy I craved and chewed on ice constantly. Now, 10 years later, I'm craving the ice again. Any relation to insulin? I've been doing IF and keto for about 6 months
I just had surgery and my hemoglobin and iron were a little under the cut off range. My doctor asked if I was craving ice. I am not.. He said that some people with low iron can develop this strange, he mentioned craving another item but I can't remember now.
????Do sweeteners including the natural ones.. stevia, etc cause blood sugar to rise for people with insulin resistance? And if someone is insulin resistant, should they continue low carb while pregnant???
So how do you actually test to know your insulin spikes after a certain food? Just do a blood sugar test with the meter and finger poke about 2 hours after you have eaten a food you want to test?
It's pretty difficult to test insulin in real time. Blood sugar can give SOME indication, but it doesn't actually show what's happening with the insulin level. One useful tool is a fasted insulin test that a doctor can run.
I know I have insulin resistance. I feel, do better on less carbs. My question is.. if I am following IF and my carb limits on a daily basis, how hard is it on our body to occasionally have something that is higher carb/sugar?
Hi. Great info, i have a question, I don't eat breakfast now and am losing weight but i find cutting out carbs almost impossible in our household but i can possibly choose times to eat them. When is the better time? Lunch, dinner or just before bed time perhaps?
I started gaining weight in my legs. I think its from too much almond flour and strawberries lol I walk alot probably too much no rest days will my legs go down in size please help
South Africa. .. I watched a video today and they say peanut butter is inflammatory. In your break fast u add peanut butter to your smoothie is this ok ?
