Great vid as usual! How spoiled are we these days with so many great choices… most are far too sharp for me, but I understand majority of buyers want razor sharpness corner to corner, which makes sense. Was looking at the 43mm q3 with APO and thought i can soften it with glimmerglass, then realised how insane that is. Spend a fortune for a sharp lens then try and mitigate sharpness to get a look i like.

I really love Voigtlander. Not currently owning any but I had the Ultron 35mm 1.7 VM and wow what a lens. So much good stuff from this brand.

A bit strange offering from Voigtlander. A ‘Collapsable’ design that doesn’t collapse, and a rigid version with a rotating focus mount (not mentioned?). I think the non-collapsible ‘Collapsable’ design was because they needed a stable mount for the APO quality. Reason for these maybe is to update the optical quality from the Heliar in a compact and light weight, slower, close-focus, and less expensive standard 50mm lens.

Servus Matt✌✌ Thanks for showing and introducing both lenses, at least a small ray of hope as far as the focusing distance is concerned, at least with the newer models the Flektogon is one of my favourites, but 35mm and has a focusing distance of approx. 16cm which was already excellent at that time and paired with Leica probably even more so that you can use it that way and I am also happy about that although adapted from M42. and I wouldn't want to be without it. Maybe Leica will come up with such innovations in the future, great video as always but you know that yourself. I'm already looking forward to the next one. Lg Anderl

Now all we need is the M12 to have a hybrid EVF or full built in EVF. I know purists will cry bloody murder but I for one am all for Leica embracing new tech, or at least releasing an M body with built in EVF alongside the rangefinder for those who still want it and nothing else.

Hybrid EVF? please not! The M12 should be a M not a Q camera. IBIS? why not, but please just an optical viewfinder.

That non-collapsible collapsible design is not attractive-maybe a little better looking than the cone they put on the older one, but why bother if it doesn’t collapse? Disappointed that the 50/2 beats this-does that hold throughout the range? How do these compare with the Thypoch?
