Welcome Magnus to the competitive chess game, Sibdarov showed some great nerves in that final round

29:49 GM GrigorGrigorov resigned in a drawn position. He had Qd2, Re1+, Qxe1, Nxe1, and the knight is trapped, so Kf1. If c5, white has Nf5 with tempo, and Bb4 fails to c3. So probably black plays Nxc2, and white captures bishop on d6 .... drawn position. If instead of c5, black tries Bc5, white plays Nb3, and you're still losing a piece. Drawn position. If instead Be5, white plays Nc6, and you're losing a piece, yet again. Drawn position. He just panicked resigned against Magnus. Can't blame him.

Looks like Instead of Nd3? there is Nb3! Qc3, Nxd4 and black should be winning eventually.
@MrMoeqt
@MrMoeqt Месяц назад
@ankeborg9122 Wow! .. I didn't see that. nice find. Kf1 after Nxd4 tho? surely white is fine? I hope I'm not missing smth.

Ah knight was trapped. I was trying to figure out why it wasn’t crushing for Magnus

@@MrMoeqt Haven't done engine analyzis, but black has material advantage and white hasn't got anything concrete in the position other than defending. Practically, white has some drawing chances with the extra pawn and the fact of no apparent weakness in his position. Reardless, a long grind should give black the victory. That's my take as a 2300 fide player :)
@MrMoeqt
@MrMoeqt Месяц назад
@@ankeborg9122 Thanks for your assessment. I feel that unless black has a tangible way of hurting white's position, it's quite a level game. Queen/pawn vs. Knight/Rook/Bishop is relatively balanced. I still give black an edge though. An engine analysis would obviously be helpful. Maybe I'll do it later

What’s the move at 29:53 for white to play on? Grigorov resigned, apparently there is some move to continue the fight
@mariakuzinas6695
@mariakuzinas6695 Месяц назад
Probably Qd2 and after Re1+ Qxe1 Nxe1 the knight is trapped. After Kf1 it seems like Bc5 or Be5 attacks the knight that’s defending the escape route via c2, but respectively Nb3 or Nf3 might be the way out (no engine)

No shot he wins 10 straight including Alireza and Fabi to lose to some unknown GM and get 2nd place. Gotta piss test that kid.

@@roydondsa He was only slightly worse at the beginning of the endgame. White's extra pawn was almost worthless. Sindarov played very well, but Carlsen was hardly crushed.

@@roydondsaCrushed!!!!! Are you on high Bro😂. If Magnus take things seriously he would decimate the opponents. But he wants to enjoy and play offbeat openings and trolls the opponents, some times it fires back.
