Great video. I have the T-Mobile gateway and it has a 110 power plug. Is there a way to to replace the 10v power plug with a 12v power plug. I want to leave my T-Mobile gateway plugged in and powered up inside my RV. I have solar and lithium batteries power a 12v outlet. With my T-mobile powered on I can access my wifi camera and temp gauge. ?

Yes, lucky for us this unit is 12V unit (4A and 48W) and I have even used in on the road using my Solar Power Generator. Be sure to use DC because it is way more efficient than turning on the AC rails. One of my units came with a 12V barrel connector to 12V barrel connector. Love it.

You are so knowledgeable my friend! I see what you are saying about mobile phones having priority. My iphone 13 just got 327 mbps download but a 37.9 upload while my macbook pro get 28.8 and 29.4 respectively. My issues are accessing gaming servers (lag, no connection, or disconnect in the middle of games) and lag when performing video calls on Zoom and Google Voice (big issue because of work). The InvisaGig 5G modem is pricey and so is the Yeacomm. Do you have other alternatives that can do that bridge mode with the no-ip service set up tutorial to address these issues?
@PeterC408
@PeterC408 2 дня назад
Thanks Jeff. While it is true that a phone (on a phone network) will be given greater priority and thus achieve different speed scores, yours speed decrease seem excessive! So that is one problem - I suspect a networking issue. How do you have this hooked up? Check your router, cables, hubs and makes sure that you are Cat 5e and Gigabit. The other issue you are talking about "lag" is called latency and is measured with PING. Ping to gaming servers can be slower because traffic needs to be routed to an IXP (internet exchange point) as most game servers are not on T-Mobile servers - we need to get from one internet to the other. Replacing the 5G gateway with a better one can be pricey but it is a one time cost that can then be amortized over years of use. I get much better scores now and can craft my signal!! Take a look at these comparisons ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SqJ5e8w8iio.html

Hi Peter. Sorry if you've covered this before, but I'm assuming that I can take the simm card out of my Sagemcom gateway and put it in a third party modem? I have the T-Mobile Small Business plan. I've heard that there are diffterences between my plan, the Home Internat and the Business Internat plans. WHat are the considerations I need to make with the third party modem if I were to do this?
@PeterC408
@PeterC408 5 месяцев назад
Yes, the business plans even talk about BYOD (bring your own device). You can either contact TMobile and let them know all the device IDs of your new equipment or make your new equipment report the IDs it is expecting. To attach to TMobile, you need to have your SIM, expected IMEI and APN. Your IMEI is listed on the bottom of your device and your APN is different for consumer and business. You need to make sure you use the TMobie business APN if you have a static IP. Otherwise you can use fast.t-mobile.com

Talking to T-Mobile can be frustrating in that what you hear depends on the agent that you fall upon. All EULA agreements aside, "technically" it works on the home/consumer SIMs too.

Could you break this down into a few simple steps for me? I'm mostly confused at the setup process for no-ip and setting up DDNS. How does no-ip keep track of the changing IP addresses? And is the InvisaGig modem absolutely necessary for this to work? I just want to have a good understanding of this and make sure that it will work with my setup before I spend $600 on an InvisaGig.
@PeterC408
@PeterC408 4 месяца назад
Sorry for the delay, death in the family. Anyway, your IP address changes with T-Mobile. Your Access Point (WiFi) can keep track of the changes as long as it is not behind NAT wall, so bridge mode (only on some new gateways). So if you get a new gateway and put it in bridge mode, your access point can monitor IP changes from TMobile and report them to a 3rd party server (like No-IP) and it just works. You do not need InvisaGig but you need some modem that will replace your gateway with bridge mode. I have reviewed the Yeacomm (both work) and the a new one coming out. Soon.

TMobile offers a whole host of SIM plans with great service for a reasonable fee. Some people are willing to take out their SIM and insert it back in their phone every month to try and game the system and save $15/mo but I don't want to go there. The problem with Unlimited is that it means nothing. They have 5GB/mo unlimited plans, 10GB/mo unlimited the problem is once you hit the cap, they throttle you to 3G speeds and that isn't good for anyone. The ABSOLUTE BEST offer going for HotSpot data is offered for free with your Comcast subscription. They are called XFinity Hotspots and they are literally everywhere. I would take my GL-inet router and configure it to make my own network out of a public IP and it thing would set itself up in city after city and campsite after campsite. If you are already paying for cable, this is a great service.

The Waveform 4x4 MIMO is a very good antenna (you had me going with the "Mini"). It should definitely help you get a better signal but it is highly directional so you will have to chose one antenna or the other. @PeterC408
@PeterC408 5 месяцев назад
I am not an expert but I believe that your DDNS watchdog app does not need to run on the AP. There is actually an app that will run a PC to do the same thing, so as long as your NAS support DDNS, I believe that it can report the change successfully.
@slphelan

@PeterC408
@PeterC408 5 месяцев назад
I think we are over complicating things. Your IP address is going to change with T-Mobile (unless you have a business account and are paying for a Static IP - I tried them, they suck). Any watchdog application running on your network can report the change of an IP address to No-IP (or others) and get this to work. TERMS : By "WatchDog App", I mean a program running on your NAS, PC or AP router to report your IP address change. By "WatchDog Service", I mean No-IP or DuckDNS (which I have not tried but should work). Give it a try, it should work.

So if I get 400+ at night but 40-120 during congestion because I use over 1.2 tb a month what would I get if I buy a 4x4 antenna from waveform I live in a 5g ultra wideband area I’m 1.2. Miles away from the tower also I was getting better speeds when my 4g band was on b66 now it’s on b2 How do I fix that too
@PeterC408
@PeterC408 5 месяцев назад
Step one: subscribe to my channel. Here we are mixing 3 different things: 1. Performance late at night is your best case. When there are more people using the network you get prioritized down, normally 30-50%. All the way to 40Mbps sounds like a big hit but that's still do able. 2. Going over 1.2TB/mo with a new $50/mo account will throttle you pretty hard, down to 3G speeds I would imagine (read as, barely usable). 3. Locking to a particular band, like band 2 vs band66 is a great feature of many modems but missing from the gateways that t-mobile provides - probably for support reasons. The modem that I am using here would allow you to craft your signal and get better scores. Do you need an antenna? @wirelesshaven
@wirelesshaven 6 месяцев назад
@@pH7screwtube Not always, but many times it is the combinations of cell bands the gateway is choosing to use. With a modem like the InvisaGig you can choose the exact bands you use, and which to not use, and this can help optimize your connection for the bands that are available at your site. This also includes the ability to choose whether or not you use LTE only, 5G only, or LTE+5G. These are very handy tools to have to optimize your connection for YOUR needs, versus being stuck on whatever the provided gateway gives you based on its internal arbitrary metrics. Example: n41 is a fantastic download band, but is NOT engineered for upload at all. If you can add on the use of n25, if available, instead of aggregating n41 bands (if your modem can aggregate 5G) then you add on a MUCH better upload optimized band. There are many combinations that could work, all depending on what you have available at your specific site, and whether or not you have the controls to easily test the available bands. The InvisaGig is the most powerful AND most simple way to do this.

GAMER here, I think the problem I am having is what you are talking about in this and other videos, but it isn't succinct and it would help me if you dumbed it down further. Here's what I understand so far, step by step. 1. Buy a modem that has a bridge capability and use it to basically replace the Tmobile gateway modem/router. 2. Configure that modem to talk to a decent router that allows port forwarding and other stuff. 3. Use No IP service in conjunction with the router so that the double NAT problem goes away. 4. Everything should work? Since you are using Tmobile home internet, could you tell me if this works for a game called "Wuthering Waves"? Basically, if it lets you log in with sub 100 ms, then I assume everything that you've done has worked.
@PeterC408
@PeterC408 2 месяца назад
Wow! Very well stated. Yes, you have understood this correctly. You must be pretty smart! Here is the deal with latency... There is no one internet... there are several large networks owned by T-Mobile, AT&T, Comcast and others. When you are on one provider and want to send traffic to another, your packets need to go to an IXP (internet exchange point) to be routed, just like if you were on United and wanted to take a South West connection flight you would need to go to a SouthWest HUB and change planes. No game manufacturers host games on T-Mobile, so all you traffic must go to an IXP. If you live near one, it is not a problem, but this is where additional latency can come from. That said, better signals can improve ping... Check out this new bridging modem that I found that fits inside of an external antenna!! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gMRfklUD_E4.html

I am downloading Wuthering Waves and will try it. Will it tell me what Ping I am getting? That said, your ping will depend on your location but I will tell you if it works

I tried Wuthering Waves. It is a pretty cool game. Good graphics and the game play seemed pretty good. I found what I believe to be the PING in the upper right of the screen. It shows a 112ms but the game play was still solid.

@@PeterC408 if you're getting 112ms with tmobile cell tower internet, then I need to try what you've said so far. Would a modem/router all in one still work? I'm less than 2000ft from the tower with clear line of sight and have 5 bars already. Thank you for the information and videos on this CG NAT / double NAT thing!

Yes, but it fixes some very serious problems (if you want to serve), CG-NAT and Double NAT. Watch my latest video about Bridge Mode and look the sneak peek at a new Modem at the end. It will likely be up there as well ($$$) but it includes a 4x4 MIMO and blows everything out of the water. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hbt1ie2BA0s.html

@@PeterC408 at this point for people who can get fiber I recommend it I get you save more in long end with your method but better ping latency and none of this fiddling around
@PeterC408

My neighbor has AT&T Fiber and I can't knock the speed or latency. It is awesome but it is also $100/mo!!!! For what? Fortnight?!?!?! No way! I would rather save $60/mo, $720/yr. I told my kids just to get better at playing the games they play and they did. If you need an 8ms ping to beat kids from other parts of the world, you just need to get better at the game. If you need low ping to get high score, it says something. 🙃

I will wait until I can get 5G 1Gb/s download and 1Gb/s upload speed for $50.

My feeling is that day is coming and sooner than we think. 5G is just rolling out. When we get to n77 at 3.7GHz we should have enough bandwidth to provide 1Gb down and up. The customers and the hardware are ready, the frequencies have been secured from the FCC and are beginning to rollout. The question is what is the limit of T-Mobile's backhaul. My feeling is that they will need to further separate the mobile and home Internet networks to account for differences in customer needs. Will it be $50??? I hope so.

They'll gladly sell me phones with unlimited data. But if I want judt internet, that's not available in my area. Verizon too. But they have great data on their phones. Screwy.
@PeterC408
@PeterC408 6 месяцев назад
Unlimited is a 4-letter word. It has been used so much it means nothing. "Unlimited" doesn't mean unlimited it means no limit to the amount of data but not the speed of data. Now we have 5GB unlimited plans, 10GB unlimited plans and 50GB unlimited plans. If you want Unlimited/unlimited that cost extra. Verizon is a great service but the chose poorly in the 5G spectrum. They planned on serving high speed but did not think about the size of our country. T-Mobile was much more forward thinking in their use of aggregation of mid-band frequencies. I think they will continue to grow... but if you have Verizon and are happy with it, go with that. I would not use Verizon for my phone. They are giving phones away to buy customers because they know they screwed up. Everyone knows that no one is going to use 3TB/mo on a phone, that's just silly (in 2024, I am sure this will come back to byte me in the future).

Peter covered it, and I just add that this is also because, other than tethering, they know you wont really use much data on a phone. It's just marketing.

5G NSA Radios are much more complex than their 4G counterparts. These won't come close to meeting your price target until they are simplified by further advancement in transition to 5G SA way in the future. Still, this isn't a one band radio. It aggregates multiple bands. You can't guess your way to a pricepoint. I'm waiting for Ferrari to come down to sub $40K, same thing. 🙃
