I'm a Wendover local and found you channel in the last few weeks. I started trying the high limit slots and have made a little money so it was really exciting to hear you were here, even cooler to see you review the properties I work for!
This is a great review also. I've been going to Wendover for over 15 years now since I turned 21 and I've lived in Northern Utah this whole time. Last year my first slot jackpot of $1400 back in June. That was at the nugget. The nugget and montegobay are the 2 casinos i like the most there. The buffet at montego is great especially on the weekends when they have seafood.
Good review, can't say I disagree too much. Been going for years for blackjack and the occasional concert, which is a really nice venue. Not much of a slot player, but been wanting to get into them a bit - so glad I found your channel and appreciate your no-bs breakdown and tips. Keep up the great work.
I started visiting WENDOVER RESORTS back in February 2014 when they had charter flights from Texas. I paid one time and the next 23 flights for two/3 days & nights hotel/etc…were “comped”. The slots were loose back then, but got tight within recent years. The food was good & the Peppermill Concert Hall is fantastic!!! Saw many great shows there!
Awesome channel mr cowboy. I know there’s a lot of California slot players that would love a breakdown and review of the popular tribal casinos since there’s so many here. Morongo, Pechanga and so many more. A review of different class 3 tribal casinos in California and the differences I think would blow up and get a lot of views and many would find interesting.
We would go on these junket trips to Wendover. The casinos would fly us there complimentary from Denver and we would hit the casinos hard for 12 hours and then they would fly us back. We only won once out of 6 trips or so and that wasn't a life changing event. Mostly, everyone came home broke. We called the place "Bendover".
Have been to Wendover about 4-5 times. Very accurate review! My brother is lucky enough to at least break even or go home a winner most times. I lose every time so far on their machines. It really hits home to hear that they have tighter machines than other casinos. My brother and I like to also go to The Nugget and Red Garter which seem to be owned by a different company cause they have their own rewards card. More variety of machines, some are really fun, I'd suggest trying out the Bubble Craps in The Nugget. Edit: I failed to mention a friend won a 10k jackpot on a buffalo machine. Other from that most wins I've seen family/friends get are just over 1k or under 1k on their machines.
If one is going to review the Wendover experience, it seems obvious to me that the Red Garter and Gold Nugget casinos need to be included. I find the Red Garter particularly notable because of it's additional options it provides in lodging & food. The Prospector restaurant has probably the best food prices in town (in case you are starting out and don't have enough points built up for free food yet) Service is a little slow but for the price, I can look the other way on that. Both Garter and Nugget offer some admittedly dated rooms for FREE if you have built up a half way decent reputation with their players club. Coming in cold; the rooms can be rented quite cheaply. Both casino's offer more of a bar room atmosphere- very low light - where Rainbow, Montego, & Peppermill are lit up more like a mall. I absolutely love the Wendover scene; ESPECIALLY for it's fabulous comps and the play seems to be looser than anyplace i'm aware of in Vegas (and we are Fremont freaks).
This review is not about the city of Wendover but rather the “Resorts at Wendover” which is the parent company for the three resorts mentioned. The hotels you are talking about are owned by a different entity and may be reviewed in a future video :-) thanks for watching!
I don’t hold smaller casinos in smaller areas to the same standards that I do casinos in Las Vegas. They generally are older and smaller and geared either towards locals or people from nearby states if they are just across a state line; such as Wendover or Mesquite. I’ve not been there but I have stayed at two of the hotel/casinos in Mesquite and visited a third. They aren’t big, they may or may not be as staffed as a Vegas location. As for the buffet being open only on the weekends, that makes perfect sense for a smaller location like that. Friday-Sunday are likely the busiest times, so they can operate a buffet at a lower loss rate than they can during a weekday where there won’t be as many people. I didn’t really find the machines at Mesquite any tighter or looser than Vegas; then again, I am a very chicken gambler; Pennie’s to the rare dollar slot at most. So I’m not going to be playing the loosest machines. Blackjack would be a plus for low limit, single deck. The card ratio is exactly the same if you play one deck, 2, 4, 6…
Go out there all the time. Rewards are amazing, jackpot slow pay. But jackpots are good. Better than Wynn or mgm grand. Overall it’s ok. Buffet sucks, all the high end restaurants are amazing, food is a A for sure and I’m a foodie! Customer service is perfect. Many low end tight players reason why you don’t see jackpots. Montego is the best casino. Rewards are the best for sure. Floor is keep in my eyes.

I was considering driving to the Idaho casinos instead and wondered if you had advice on which place closest to Salt Lake gives the better chances at payouts or should I just do Vegas instead? I appreciate you commenting on the table games they offer and I hope you continue that in future videos. Only offering single deck black jack is disappointing but $5.00 minimums, especially at a craps tables these days is surprising. You hit the nail on the head with this review. The slot play was super tight on everything we tried and our machine had a malfunction that I had to send my wife around to find someone. We asked for a water while playing and finally gave up on that after a half hour. The buffet was sub par, I think the money would have been better spent at McDonalds. Won’t be going there again. Cactus Pete’s in Jackpot on the other hand kept us busy for 4 hours the Sunday after Wendover and left with a profit :)

Additional fun tidbits as follows. From what I can tell the surrounding casinos of Utah offer the most singe deck handheld blackjack games on the planet. The bulk of their players are the lovely people of the LDS faith. Good and smart people on most things. Good luck!

No just more machines. I have hit a few for $1000 And a couple $2000 I have seen on their there has been a few good size jackpots. I’m disappointed they are not giving free rooms or free play anymore. I have reached out asking why or if they will start again and no reply. I will watch for when your coming would love to hear your review! I have not been impressed with cactus Pete’s in Jackpot the last two times I have been and live closer to Fort Hall.

We go to Wendover quite a bit as we live in SLC but have been very disappointed since covid started and they tightened up the machines. Great review. Pretty much spot on. As a relatively local visitor, I feel Wendover leaves a lot to be desired, but it's still a fun place to get away for the weekend. We enjoy the free room offers, the live music, and a little gambling. Incidentally, the American Casino Guide website has Wendover listed as one of the towns with a higher RTP percentage. I'm curious to know more about how the report you received matches up with what I've read elsewhere. Also, maybe you'll review the Nugget and Garter properties (both belong to Maverick) next time?
I don't know where you're getting the numbers that Wendover doesn't pay out well...? I just reviewed the numbers provided by the NGC and there have not been any significant changes to their win percentages so far in 2022 (and I have checked quarterly for over 12 years). Here they are: Slot Machines 1 Cent: 6.19%; 93.81% return-to-player 25 Cent: 8.29% 91.71% return-to-player 1 Dollar: 3.88%; 96.12% return-to-player 5 Dollars: 4.42% 95.58% return-to-player Thousands and thousands of people fly to Wendover each year for the loose gaming experience. COVID-19 hit them hard - no doubt, and service has suffered some as a result. However, giving them a 'D' for gaming is ridiculous. Perhaps you should try some of the Tribal casinos in the mid-west if you want to experience some real 'D' gaming; 10-15% win percentage on pennies, 10% on dollars and so on... Las Vegas strip casinos aren't much better. Wendover doesn't have many wide-area progressives (Peppermill properties have none), so large jackpots are rare, but the gaming experience is fantastic overall. If you like to play slots, appreciate generous comps and aren't too concerned if a drink glass is laying around or if the buffet (yuck) is open, Wendover is the place for you!
Great counter comment. I had seen these same numbers elsewhere also, and was wondering if they were outdated. It was my understanding Wendover has some of the highest RTP percentages in the state. Much higher than the strip or even Freemont.
I just started going this year and have since became a regular. According to the gaming commission wendover is one of the best places to play and like you said the comps have been amazing. I really enjoy my time there and I'm always treated very well. Although I mostly stay at the nugget and only play at the rainbow during events or comp days .
I made lots of comped airline trips from Redding, Ca to Montego Bay Wendover. My Mom played from noon until late and I was "traveling companion" so I didn't play too much due to the $$$. She would get free flights for us and I would get a connected room. However, when my mom passed I got one free trip. I wasn't offered any more trips. I called and asked if I could get comped like before...No Comp flights. She said I have to play 10 hours a day to get comped and I only played 7...long story short, Covid ended all flight trips and the Flight Services people are out of a Job.......That's the way it goes.... You nailed the review perfectly!
I hate having to wait on a tech for a screwed up machine. Are you going to do reviews on Indian casinos as well? If so, how about reviewing our casinos down here in Phoenix? Last two trips to Vegas we stayed at the Wynn Encore. First visit we did pretty good on the slots, the second trip we lost badly. But the hotel, staff, and dining was 5 star all the way!
Thank you for looking at Wendover, though I hoped you would include Red Garter and the Nugget, both of which I would rate lower than you rated The Resorts At Wendover, realistically speaking. The payouts at the Wendover casinos you rated are indeed low in my experience, and the cleanliness factor has been in need of attention for YEARS. If one is looking for a place to eat, I sincerely suggest the Salt Flats Cafe on the Utah side of Wendover, by the airport. The food is as authentic Mexican as it gets. Fresh everything, from the vegies to the daily made refried beans this place is fabulous. Hole in the wall in appearance, the best food to be found, high quality Mexican, and they have great burgers as well. They were able to satisfy my low carb diet with a three egg plain omelette smothered in the best chili verde to be found.
Love the channel and reviews, looking forward to jackpot and elko review. We do a trip every year coming from Idaho and hit jackpot then elko the wendover. Elko is great but I prefer wendover for the rewards. I also hit a 9800 jackpot. Would be nice to add other two casinos as when we start losing at one we move around and that’s nice. 3 or 4 of us have hit jackpots there and elko BUT never once have any of hit a jackpot in jackpot. We found you review spot on and avoid it in evenings as you can’t find a machine and it’s TOO SMOKEY. Wake up sick. Mornings it’s super nice and quiet. Thanks!

I was out there 3 weeks ago. Was taking with a pit boss about service not being very good. He said with covid and not having work 25% of the population of Wendover moved away.
Also won 1000 on one machine and 1230 on another at the Rainbow. 1st was a dollar slot max bet 9 dollars 2nd hand pay off a 5 dollar max 25 a pull first pull win.
Hey the casinos in the St Louis area dont even have any of there buffets open! They say they are not going to. Thats really sucks. They dont seem to care. They have found out they dont need to do it. People are playing anyway.

I am a blackjack player and agree that single deck is a very different game than a game dealt from a shoe. I enjoy playing single deck but it is rare in the east and on cruises.
It is been 10 years since I was last at Windover. From what you have said on this video, it has not changed at all. One of the problems is that they have a continuous flow of truck drivers, and they take advantage of that situation.

The Wendover nugget had a table card dealer named "spider" that was this older dealer and he was stone cold. I didn't care for him and played a few hands once at his table and I was gone. That was like 15 years ago. Later found out he was a known "cooler"
"Cooler" is a funny way of putting it. I know of who you speak of and he's not the only one. Good luck getting the gaming commission to help even though it will be apparent on the casinos video at times.

@@CowboySlots I have played in Riverton a lot for many yrs. I like how I can take my camper, plug in and go into the casino while my fur babies are comfy in the air conditioned camper. I went to Lander & Riverton last August. Shoshone Rose in Lander pd me $398 back to the right of the casino on a $1 machine, max bet $2 and I played $2. The Top Dollar to the right over against the wall was terrible. I'll have to see if I can get you the pic of the dollar machine I'm talking about. Otherwise, the machines were so tight they could squeak. Riverton wasn't too bad for gambling though. I heard that you should go to Ethete casino about 17 miles out of Riverton. Funny thing is I will be up at Louis Lake at the end of this month camping when you're up in Riverton. This camping trip we aren't headed to Lander/Riverton. Hopefully sometime we can catch up at a casino.

Cowboy I need you to come to the Hard Rock Tampa one of these days and review the casino cause I went once and thought it was ok but literally everyone on the internet talks bad about it and I wanna get a pros opinion on it.
I got a question and it may seem dumb but there's at least some thought here's the scenario I have $100 I stay at the same machine I use up all 100 on $5 bets do you think the machine will know the difference if I just put $10 In use 5 cash out wait a minute or so then put another $10 In and repeat untill I've used up the initial $100 my thoughts are that in hopes the machine thinks your just a bunch of random players and not just one so there a higher success rate this is just a theory but I'm no expert on these things
TBTSLOTS is correct. The six deck shoed game is offerd at one table sometime on Saturday and Sunday but not 247 for the casinos mentioned in the video. I recommend you play that game despite that it is more favorable for the casino. On a fun note you can position yourself to watch multiple single deck games of BJ which is rather fun.
