So today I want to look at the celebration of Imbolc, a festival steeped in ancient traditions and meaningful rituals. 🌿✨
🕯️What is Imbolc?
Imbolc, also known as Candlemas or Brigid's Day, marks the halfway point between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox. It's a time when the Earth begins to awaken, and the promise of spring is felt in the air. It is a day of purification and a cross quarter sabbat meaning we are passing from winter into spring and everyone should light a sacred fire to celebrate this day.
Spring is coming and the joy that I can see -even as the weather cools brings warmth to me. There are so many rites, and rituals for this festival, so I have given a few of my favourite here, and a little background so that you can create your own.

Becoming a Coven Member is a thrilling ride and you will be surprised at how magickal you really are and if you want to get one to one's with me - here is the way to do it.

I like doing the tradition where you leave a ribbon out overnight for Brigid to bless. I prefer to use a red ribbon then I tie it around my doorknob with bells for protection

Hello Ginny I am a 5th generation solitary witch I'm so glad I found you. Here in Ireland they celebrate ST Brid or Breege the Irish for Bridget, People place a red cloth outside at night on the windowsill and a saucer of milk. It is said she will come and bless the cloth during the night and it is kept for the year to wrap any aches and pains. Young children make the cross at school. I moved over to Ireland from England 26 years ago my 2 Adult children I of which has chosen to be a catholic and the other a witch.

That’s such a beautiful tradition!! I always like to ask before just practicing.. But I’m trying to reconnect with my Scottish/Irish roots; and that red wrap sounds divine for my disabled hurting body 🥵

Hello! I’m from Italy and here we have a festivity named Candelora (a name that has something to do with candles) and it’s the traditional day in wich candles are blessed with holy water and sacred ointments. It’s obviously an ancient pagan tradition that Christians just took over and called their own… but I love how linked it is to festivals all over Europe!❤
@Witchy-Wonderland
@Witchy-Wonderland 6 месяцев назад
It’s interesting to see how many of these pagan traditions still linger in European church culture. You never see or hear about these things being practiced in American churches .. I know obviously America was trying to get rid of reign & the King, etc. But surely (obviously) they brought aspects of their religion to America with them as well?.. So I’m wondering why these more “pagan” or “witchy” type church practices were so fiercely cut out of American churches… My intuition just said it had something to do with slaves, and the perception of practicing “voodoo” & “black magic”. Like the idea of Americans bringing their candles for the year to be blessed & dressed with holy water|sacred ointments sounds so “foreign” to me 😅 Makes me wonder how many other pagan practices/traditions were cut out because they were perceived to be of “black magic” origin 🤔

So glad I came across this channel. This is my first year I am making the conscious commitment to celebrate all the sabbats. And I'm so excited to be celebrating imbolc. I don't necessarily celebrate the God's or Godesses, but invoke the spirit of each sabbat in relation to its connect with the planet, and what it means for the earth and universe. I wanted to reach out to Brigid when I was about 16, but it didn't feel right, as a long time Atheist and former Christian I felt like I was performing a religion that wasn't my own. But recently I wanted to look back into it coincidentally right around the time of Imbolc. When you mentioned Brigid's connection to the number 19 I nearly teared up as I turn 19 in about a month and felt this timing had to mean something. I have no doubt I'm pledging myself to the right goddess and welcome this new chapter of my life, thank you!

As a Gallo Roman pagan, there are many festivals available for me to celebrate, but I am partial to the neopagan wheel of the year as it's cohesive and consistent - while I do acknowledge other holidays, imbolc is definitely one of my favourite celebrations of the year!

In years past I’ve kept my ChristmaS tree up til March first and candles in the window but Christmas decorations are put away by twelfth night and new decorates of seasonal fare such as snowflakes, snowman, icicles are there instead. There are also natural things like ivy and bride dolls and the cross of saint Bridget which was my confirmation name. I also keep a candle burning throughout these winter months until The light that is growing is more noticeable cleaning and organizing commences and i like to transplant my houseplants as well as do different kinds of art with vibrant colors helps to chase the winter blues away. There are also the Christmas ribbons I use to hang the mistletoe at Christmas red green gold and silver I tie theme all on the front door on the eve of Saint Bridget and then to the back door that evening and save the ribbons to use them for getting rid of headaches through the coming year.Thank you GinnY for all your wonderful videos they are a good reminder of things💕💖😊

His wife (also unbeknownst to me) took me to visit him in the hospital..he had a broken leg..he told me my mom was a witch. I had no idea my mom even knew him. RIP Mom

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 00:22 The *video discusses the upcoming witch's Sabbath known as Imbolc, which falls on the first of February. It's a cross-quarter day marking the transition from winter to spring.* 01:33 Even *though spring officially starts later, Imbolc signifies the beginning of spring in the old ways, with signs like shoots and daffodils emerging.* 02:30 Imbolc *is associated with Bridget, a goddess who brings greenery and is connected to various aspects of life, such as being a Smith, poet, healer, and more.* 04:20 Bridget *is worshipped with candles and is also associated with the sacred flame, which is celebrated by both Pagans and Christians.* 07:29 To *celebrate Imbolc, one must clean and purify their home and themselves. Cleaning the hearth is a significant part, as the fire from Bridget's sacred flame will be used to light it.* 09:38 Imbolc *is a festival of fertility and milk, so procreation and having milk on the altar are traditional ways to celebrate.* 10:46 The *video mentions upcoming sponsorship deals with witchcraft-related products and encourages viewers to like, subscribe, and turn on notifications to participate in giveaways.* Made with HARPA AI

Thank you for another good video. I have no tradition for Imbolc, it is too early to say we have spring on 1st February here in Norway. It will usually come more snow after 1st February than before during the winter. I wouls say spring comes around equinox. From then more snow melt away than falls down. We hav very little written down on the previous religions. Our writing was carving runes, and not so easy to make books of stone and wood planck.

Imbolc is from the Irish language. PRONOUNCED "IMBULK".Many Blessings.Light those candles.I wonder about connection with St Patrick banishing snakes(representing Paganism) from Ireland and coercing Christianity;and Brigid's associations with snakes.

Based on the videos I've watched, everybody who talks about Imolg on the Irish Pagan School channel on RU-vid and Bitesize Irish pronounce it Imolg. It's an old Gaelic word, not a modern Irish word, and the "B" is silent.

What if you live in a apartment and don't have a hearth? I wish I did but I do not.

You have a stove/cook top, right? That's your hearth. 🙂 The God's are not rigid and stuck in the past. They completely understand we live differently. Make do with what you have and rejoice with a joyful heart and you will be heard. The good energy you send out to them, will be returned to you (threefold is what I believe). May you have a Wonderful day and a Better tomorrow! Blessed Be!
