I wonder that you don`t get grey sludge because of the lot of copper/tin when you precipitate with SMB or is there no tin on your pins? H2SO4 is for precipitateing lead (Pb) I guess?

Why do you use the sulfuric acid? Also be careful with the urea, nitric and sulfuric acid mixture will react with it to make urea nitrate and nitrourea, these are explovive compounds. Just make sure to dispose of the leftover solution properly. Very nice video!

When you add up the cost of all the chemicals, and all the time spent extracting the pins from electronics very little profit is left in it. However in 3rd world countries where wages are very low it is viable. Also these days manufactures have drastically reduced the amounts of precious metals used making it even more difficult.

Hi Umar, I love your videos, but I'm curious as to why you use so much nitric. It seems wasteful to me. unknown unknown below stated what I was thinking. You can actually just use HCL instead of nitric (unless you want to do it really quickly) to dissolve the base metals, and too, you use so much water. You must have an easy way to dispose of so much liquid waste. I'm a complete novice, but based on everything else I've learned on the topic, the amount of nitric required to dissolve the gold is quite low compared to the amount of HCL in the solution. Nitric must be inexpensive where you are. Anyway, just a few questions from a noob. Thanks for posting. I subscribed a while back and enjoy your posts.... Thanks for doing this. - Cheers!

So you dissolved all metals on aqua Regia and then applied sulphuric acid to drop out the lead. Then you added urea and sodium metabisulphite so the gold would be displaced and fall out of the solution. All the base metals would remain in sloution??? That was really simple if that is the process... well done. Was your initial weight in Kg Or Lbs. Based on this method can any other plated metal materials besides pins be added into the solution at the same time??

Burn the plastic OK, then rinse the plastic ashes, use Filter do no loose and metal parts then start this process again, dont worry if the pins look black or burned, The gold is still there, Thats what I am going to do.@@helderfreitas6760

@@bentabetsofiane1926 I'm no expert but have watched too many of these videos. Test the green solution with stannous chloride for the presence of gold in solution. If no gold then do what gold recovery said. If gold is present in solution then decant or filter it then try to drop with SMB again. Hope that is helpful.
