Tbh, I think the reason people are against it, is because it isn't the character. In this speedpaint in particular, other than the intro, you can't really tell that it's supposed to be Misa from Death Note, instead of a black goth OC someone made. Something like this fits "Cosplay Art" more than "Fanart" as well.

It's because if you made a black character white, people would get upset, but it goes both ways. But this person made her look like them, so that's different.

Yeah, I notice this too. People seem to think blackwashing is okay but whitewashing isn't. To me, they both aren't good. Honestly, if you want a black character to draw, just pick a black character! Don't blackwash an asian character. Same with people who want to draw black people white. I find it odd. I absolutely adore the art though! the style is adorable, I just don't understand why she didn't choose a black character for blacktober and just made a white character black-

What back characters would they use from the media? Its supposed to be for fun. The black characters are usually horrible representation either way.

@@dxrkskiiez_ialex5687 I will admit, many black characters in anime are extremely exaggerated; However, there are still plenty of good black characters in anime that would have been great for this video! I will spare you the list of characters unless you just want me to list some~ I just don't think that whitewashing and blackwashing are good things to do to characters- even if its just done for fun. In the end its still blackwashing even if its just for fun.

She is Asian and don’t come to me crying saying that black characters are not represented good that’s not my problem if you want to complain about that go do it to yourself or the creators. And even so they are Asian their not White or Black so you don’t have the power to change someone’s nationality just because you wish they were black. You don’t own the character and their not your property so you can’t make that decision. This is not right and it’s the same with whitewashed characters. Pls think about what you’re righting on the Internet and don’t just think the same way as others just to fit in.

I think the hand is being held further out in front of the face making it look bigger. But it does seem slightly large. Her art is great either way!
