In the Era of only fans and Patreon, we have Patera saying "don't send me a dime. Take care of your babies and your community". One of the many reasons she's so loved
Work for a big box store part time that doesn't offer benefits. Finally, signed up for ACA healthcare and no longer feel guilty about having to use a government program. If the government will give the illegals freebies, even though they have not paid into the system, then I no longer feel quilty getting benefits after paying into the system for 50 years.
Be careful. Once on, they hound u. Don't sign up for My chart or any health chart log ins. Info gets third party shared and sold. Also hacked. They will encourage u to take all v's!! As well.
I never get tired of the videos of you and the baby goats! I know you don’t know me from Adam, but I wanted to share with you an answered prayer. Yesterday, I got results of my latest CT, to see if I was still cancer-free. I’m always so nervous because I’ve had breast cancer 4 times. My scan showed no evidence of disease!!! God is so good!! Even with the world in such a mess, He had time to answer this old lady’s prayers. God bless you, Patara!! ♥️
I did a Patara thing today. 51 years old, first time ever shopping the $1 section of Dollar General, filled two Christmas bags with about $30-35 worth of toiletries, cleaning supplies and snacks. Took these bags to the front porch of "The Drug House." Because *everyone* matters, and these people are the daughters and sons of heartbroken mamas - that's how I see it. My autistic son carried a bag and I carried the other one. I told him we were "sharing" and he smiled. We will share more; so blessed to afford to do so.
God bless you, honey. I never would have thought to do that. I'm sitting here in tears thinking about this act of kindness. You're an inspiration and such a lovely example to your child !
More Americans are struggling than people think. I have been waiting for senior housing and my current rent in regular housing is outrageous. I pray I can hold out til senior housing is available. Thank goodness I am a prepper at heart. Thank you for your channel.
I know it's hard some one I know played thier game they had to be " homeless " for 7 days then they got low income housing .... It's hard it is ... I am sorry you are having to go thru this
Wait time around here for senior apartments can be up to 1 year! I was able to get into very quickly only because several people went to nursing homes (or died).
I'm an almost 62 year old woman. In 2021 my health declined and I lost my job, couldn't pay rent and ended up homeless for 5 months. With help from a couple of friends I was able to rent a run down mobile home , grateful for a roof over my head. Was able to start drawing benefits but once bills are paid I'm broke. I'm talking rent, utility bill, internet, I don't have a phone bill or tv. I'm doing without my blood pressure meds and I'm having to get food from blessing boxes or food pantry. I tried to get food stamps but apparently I make to much. My Thanksgiving meal was a can of beans and a can of tuna from a blessing box. I never thought it would be this hard just to live when I got older. I'm praying for all people having difficulties in these times especially older people. Thank you for all you do.
Patara, not many give a darn. Thank you. You made me cry. It's nice to know that someone cares about those of us who have been forgotten. May God bless you. 💙
I home schooled both my boys in the early 90s ! Congrats to your son...its great news! Most of us would love to send this person a card. To this woman who feels alone I am sending you warm loving thoughts and prayers....you are not alone you now have hundreds thinking about you ! ❤
I think it's hard for us to even comprehend what is coming. Not only financially, but what is happening with the invasion at the border of primarily Military aged men from the Middle East and China. The Cartels are already here. We're already invaded.
I'm 72, and many people in my age category just don't make it known when they're struggling. I guess that's just the way we were brought up. We, well I, was taught not to complain because there was always someone somewhere that was worse off than you. I still feel that way. It might take me 2 months to save up for a yearly haircut, but I know that somewhere there's someone without something to eat or a roof over their heads, and my haircut doesn't seem like a big deal anymore. I am blessed. No, I don't have a lot of things that "normal" people would consider common place, but I am still blessed at what I have. God Bless you and yours Patara, and congratulations on Beau's graduation! 🤗
I had to use my Aldi's quarter for an item at a Christmas Bizarre. I realized on my way to Aldis I didnt have a quarter or even change. I tried to get the man at register at the thrift store to add a quarter to my bill and give me a Quarter. He couldn't understand what I wanted. A lovely lady behind me, gave me a quarter. She was awesome, completely understanding how hard it is to just come across change. Every quarter counts. Thank you to all of the generous loving people.
Saw a video of an Aldi's in the UK where people had to use their smart phone to let them through some gates into an Aldi's store, more WEF CRAP!🤬🤬🤬 Glad they are not in my area!😲
We are struggling in Australia too. Rent, the prices of food and general living is horrendous. These times are truly horrible because it's not just the cost of living, it's society's morals and the filth that is being pushed onto our children.
Walking in the state forrest next to where I live with my dogs, a large tree bough six inch wide hit me right between the eyes. Felt the impact and my brain rock. Then i was on the ground blood and large clots pouring out of both sides of my nose. My knee hurt it had hit somethong. I made it back to my house. I ended up with a trauma very painful nose and a concussion. So I am down resting with headaches, sensitive to noise and light. Ordered some mushroom drops to heal my brain. With so much to do i am now struck down. But God was lookImg after me that tree boough could have killed me. Thats why they call them widow makers.
I STARTED, LAST CHRISTMAS, CROCHETING THROW BLANKETS FOR EVERYONE FOR THIS CHRISTMAS. WENT TO THE $5 STORE FOR GRANDKIDS "ONE ITEM" EACH. DOING THE BEST WE CAN. CONGRATULATIONS TO YOUR SON ON HIS GRADUATION. FOUND OUT MY FIRST BORN, WILL BE A PAW PAW COME MAY!!! YES, TIME DOES FLY BY SO FAST. LOVE ONE ANOTHER AND KEEP PRAYING.
Congratulations to your son, you and James! In times like these it's so wonderful to see a young man loved so that his parents gave him an education and a life he can be proud of!! You done good, girlfriend!!!❤
Gotta share a a kindness shown today ~ shopping at Aldi, walking across the parking lot to go inside. A lady called to us asking if we need a cart. Yes, I'll take it ( I do this at any store to give someone a hand in returning the buggy) I opened my purse to get a quarter out, she told me no, all good. I payed it forward by giving the buggy to someone coming in as we were going out. **Also, a pound of butter is $1.99, limit 6.
Congratulations to Beau and you. I have two homeschool granddaughters. One graduated from college this year and is now a PhD student. The other is a sophomore is college. Keep telling the truth about homeschooling.
We've been living off our garden and stores for two months! My husband finally starts his new job Monday 🙌 He was laid off after ten yr. Job. Thankful we worked all summer canning and storing or we'd be in food lines ourselves with 5kids!❤ I'm thankful my grandparents instilled in me to depend on no one but God. Hopefully we get a check soon for flour, sugar, and rice restocking!
My husband and I are both on SSA. They have stopped our Food Stamps, Medicaid and we're even cut off from our commodities. We found a good food bank, so we're blessed with that. Our son overdosed in July, so we're just going through the motions. Hard to celebrate through this grieving, but we're staying prayed up. Love your videos and share them all. Merry Christmas to you and your family and friends. Be Blessed.
Patara, I sent you a box in the mail yesterday. Just a little something for you to send our love and appreciation for all you do. All homemade/handmade. I forgot to put a note in it though! 😅 Love and prayers to all our Appalachia Homestead families and friends.
Im 71, alone except for dogs, wish I could go back to church but so many are false and uncaring...never any invites from "friends", lol...but Ive been a loner all my life
I haven't gotten on RU-vid in a long while sis. Had a lot going on raising this new baby girl since April. She's almost 8months old and I have a teenage son I'm almost 40 and yes it's a struggle everyday but it makes me realize and see the good and the GOD in every moment
I think you're in a good place in your life. After I turned 40, I had enough previous experience combined with some maturity. (thank goodness) I started to make decisions that were more rewarding in the long run...Good for you...🇺🇸 👍☕
I feel you. I just turned 49 and I'm raising my nieces 4 babies. They are a 3yo girl, 2yo twins one boy, one girl, and a 8 month old girl. It's a struggle sometimes, but I found out yesterday our foster care certification went through so we can adopt them.
I am a 79 y.o. handicapped homeless Veteran. By the grace of God I have Credit Cards so I can stay in a motel and eat cheap at the Waffle House. I have 14 Grandchildren all have been homeschooled.
If you aren’t smiling from ear to ear while watching all of those little ones coming in for hugs & attention from Patara then you seriously need to check yourself. 🐐 💜 🐈⬛
We have been taking care of our 90 year old widowed neighbor. She is fine financially but she gets so lonely and she don't like to cook for one person so my husband and I take her a plate for supper almost every night. For nights we aren't able to visit her, we keep her stocked up on our canned soups, stews, chili, etc. She really loves bread and butter pickles and peach jelly. In the summer we pick green beans and take them to her house because she likes when we all 3 pop the beans to get ready to can them and talk, talk, talk. She looks forward to it. It's hard for her to leave her house so she only does for Doctor appointments. Her kids are awesome but some live far away and the others work full time. We are now retired so they love us looking out for their momma and we love the stories she shares from years gone by. She has been our neighbor for 24 years so she trusts us and we watch out for her safety when strangers knock on her door.
Make a cookbook of all your recipes!!! You’d have 3 pages of just cornbread. 4 pages of biscuits. All those quick and easy meals. Heck I’d buy one. Maybe 3. To share with friends.
So proud of your son and you Patara for setting a strong foundation for him. I can relate to feeling lonely since my best friend of 48 yrs passed, yet not alone. I have Jesus living inside of me and He will never leave me. My hope of Glory!! God bless you Patara and all.❤
Matthew 5:5 "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
What a joy to see your animals sharing their love with you. Listening to you is like listening to an older sister warning you what is good and bad in this world and sharing her feelings without hesitation. Carry on, Ms. Patara.
I truly admire all the hard work you and your family do and still have time to put out videos. I can only wish I had your knowledge, your strength and a small piece of land to work.
Also, this I'm writing on Sunday December 10, 2023, hoping that Patara and family are safe and well following the deadly tornadoes. Prayers for Tennessee 🙏
What a wonderful conversation today! Truly needed it. I help my 82 yr old sister with any & everything. Sometimes I get discouraged for having to change my plans to get her to an appt or whatever she needs but I always try to remember, its what God (and my dearly loved mother whos passed) would want me to do, especially as a Christian. Thank you for your wise words of encouragement Patera! Congrats to Bo (Beau) on his graduation! You did good mama 😊 love & prayers to all 💜 🙏
You spoke truth about what ur mom and GOD would have you do. I lost my last sibling in 2006. She was my last sibling. I took her to her medical appointments and hospital when needed. I was there as her last sibling should be. I’m the last of the siblings (6) and I surely miss her. We had lost our parents before she past in 2006. Im saying all this to say you are doing the right thing. May you be blessed for all that ur doing. May all your kindness be returned to you 100 fold. 🙏🏽
I Love watching the Love you have and give to your animals. All of them. And they Love you and return it back to you.❤😊They just love you.Take care Patara and have a blessed day.😊
I’m crying too I want to send her a card too. Honey idk who you are but I’m going to pray for you. Yes Patara, Jesus is the reason for this season & about others. I’m going to fill our blessing boxes in my town now too, thank you! I cherish your videos & appreciate you more than you know. Love & blessings sent your way. 💕
Don’t we wish, we could put our arms around all these people? People have become so isolated. Merry Christmas to all of you and your viewers. Plus, if you need food, please go to food banks, people are taking food to them. The food banks are there for you. Please don’t use these places if you don’t truly need them, there are truly hungry people out there. Merry Christmas to All. 🎄🎄🎄
Congratulations to you and your family for succeeding when the world says you can’t! Sitting and watching you (injury keeps me still) and in tears at the heart you share. Thank you for speaking to the lonely and the feeling lost ones who do not have anyone to share with. We are blessed and so what we can…
I think us older people don’t have as many friends as we used to because of not working and a lot of our friends have passed. Mostly just have family and if you live far away from family you get pretty lonely
I totally agree I’m in my 60’s. I got sick with cancer in my mid 50’s and my doctor told me the first time I met him this is your last day of work you can no longer work. WOW to leave your friends that you have made over the years through work just like that was a blow. Because of my illness some of my friends would come to see me and call but others started fading away even family started not calling as much. Cancer (Ovarian Cancer stage 3C) is a very scary thing and the odds of me beating it were very slim. I did go into remission after 1 year and we moved from the West Coast to Texas to be closer to our son and his family unfortunately 6 months later my cancer returned. Now being in a new state, away from friends and family and not knowing anyone but our son and family has made it very very lonely and with the way this country is going is making it even worrisome for some of us and for our children.
Our town hall has a food bank and blessing boxes and Turkeys for those in need. Also senior center has a food truck once a month to help. The numbers of elderly seniors has increased greatly who are in need. There is also help to decrease your electric bill and heating assistance to fill your oil tank.
When a spouse dies, you aren’t part of a couple any longer…and people forget all about you or have no idea what to do with you. The struggle is painful and real. 😢
Love those goat babies! Praying for us all in the upcoming year. It's gonna be bad. Hearing it from a lot of different sources. It's all about to get real. Thank you, Patara, for helping to keep us all on our toes!
Thanks Patara. Two things if I may. I treated myself to a takeout pizza the other evening. I have not done so in quite some time. I got it from a family business that I have liked for many years. I was shocked by what I found. A large pizza, which was actually the old medium, with only pepperoni was $22! Yes, I can afford that but............. no, I won't be doing that again anytime soon. It was only a few years ago that I paid half that much for an actual large pizza. Also, yes, the elderly on fixed incomes are being especially hit hard by inflation. Their property taxes go up on homes that they worked so hard over many years to pay for. More and more are forced to sell them because they can no longer afford to live in their own modest homes. This is PURE evil. All the best to you from the mountains of Central PA.
I’m an aide in a public school and I’m gifting 3 teachers with homemade vanilla extract I started in early June. I even used quality vodka and extra Madagascar beans😂. I am also adding a half pint of very local honey harvested from a fellow farmer friend. These are liberal “city folk” teachers and I’m sadly concerned that they won’t appreciate these gifts but I’m doing it anyway. Way better thought to my gift versus overpriced Starbucks drinks which I know they’d prefer more.
Starbucks gift cards are the most thoughtless gifts. I know because I have given them in the past. Expensive drinks plus long wait times. Best investment is a coffee maker or latte machine.
A lot of my customers are elderly and very lonely. When I go to clean their homes it's a big deal for them (and me), they're struggling with loneliness so much. I take a cat toy for the cat or just something very simple and it makes their day. Just knowing that someone cares goes so far❤❤
Hubby and I took fresh garden veggies to two older neighbours all summer long. I just made ChexMix, which really is to die for, and hubby went out and did his deliveries to you guessed it, the same two neighbours. They’re not really alone in the terms we think of that, but we still share whatever we have access of with all our neighbours; but for sure these two. ❤️
I had a nice neighbor guy stopped by a few days ago n gave me a bag of home made cookies with a bow on it. He knows I'm alone n lost my last sibling last spring n my kids live at the opposite end of the country. I had hired his son to do a few odd jobs for me over the 5 yrs I've been here n he let me know he had recently moved out. He said, you have done some very nice things for us at times n I just wanted you to know, we know you are here, I hope you enjoy these cookies. Sometimes when you feel invisible or alone God comes a knockin'. It was a better day because of that guy. ❤
A lot of people are alone because we've had so many recent generations where families only had one child and they've never known what a big holiday celebration is like and you are the last and eldest member of your family line. Having a Christmas party similar to a Friendsgiving could be fun and no gifts required just a smile and thanks for any blessings. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone.
Got a pig slaughtered yesterday and brought in a new one - hoping for some bacon seeds in about 4 months. Our little wethers are doing well. Rabbits are doing great - I sent a bunch to auction a couple of weeks ago as our freezers are too full for more, lol. Nursing my health issues and doing all I am able at the same time. It's not easy, but needs must. We also home educated our children, and they have done well. We have so much to be thankful for, truly, because without God, we wouldn't be where we are. Not gonna lie, I wish we had more - more land to raise more critters and grow more gardens/orchards. But what we have is what we have & I am thankful for it and do my best to get the most from it. My prayer is for all of us in this community to let God lead us, guide us, and that we do our best to help those in need as we are able. 😊
How do you say, "Woman that kisses goats", in Cherokee? Lol, I've been wondering every time I see you with the new babies! You are so sweet. Thank you for all your encouragement! Much needed.
Roasting off chicken I found on sale this morning. Will vacuum seal with gravy and have quick chicken and rice or noodles for quick meals. Cutting some collards and greens from garden to chop small to add a punch of nutrition to soups and stews. Staying busy.
Love the baby goats! Each time I see them it warms my heart to see such loving and innocent creatures. God Bless You! Merry Christmas and happy holidays.
