Beat the META returns! We are trying to win in every single Gr.3 and Gr.4 car when it isn't the strongest car! Rules are as follows;
- First race is starting with no qualification time.
- Victory must be with at least 1 A+ driver
- No LIMIT on Races
This is Gr.3!!

What is Beat the META?
META means the Best Strategy so in Racing generally it means picking the best car... Sometimes it's a combination of Best Car for the Best Strategy. In this series we take a car which isn't the best (Not in the top 10 of the leaderboards) and we take on the best cars in an attempt to BEAT the META!
The point of the series is to show you don't always have to pick what everyone else picks to have fun!

Just to clarify something. Whenever something stops being fun I stop doing it. I will always stick by that as well. Also any feedback on driving I always read, sometimes I won't agree with it but I'll always take it on board 👍 16:55 - Apologies for the Mistake this was Race 6

I hate to give driving feedback to somebody who is obviously better than me but I think it's the throttle rather than the tyre temperatures or line that are causing you the biggest problems. Looking at the HUD your accelerator seems to be coming in really fast on the exits which is causing those snaps of oversteer and making you get out of the gas. When it's as wet as that race at around 12:00 I'm trying to bring it in gradually and stick to around 50% mid corner and not go anywhere near 100% until the car is fully straight and off the rubbered in line on the exit.

@@GOTMAXPOWER It's all good mate you know I listen and review my own driving constantly so I always appreciate it! It's like when I had the same comment 3,000 times about wet lines on the other video I don't mind it as it reminds me to try something new or different (As I did all week haha). That at 12:00 was me trying things out still, the issue in this car and can be seen at 12:29 is I'm trying to just keep up with accelerating with the MRs as that's their biggest advantage in this weather so trying to be more aggressive. Even at 100% and in a straight line the M6 can spear off so its a fighting dilemma. I genuinely do believe there's a temperature issue as for example the M6 can't go as quick, so don't brake as hard into corners which then forces temps down, and this cycle continues especially when its colder. It's why I think (I've done alot of thinking around this) when we race at Le Mans or the warmer circuits temps become less of an issue. I could be wrong with this but everytime I left the pits the car became somewhat driveable. I expect it to be slower than the MR cars but a 5 second difference is not fun (Not saying there isn't a skill issue either).

@@tidgney Understood, it just looked strange after driving the Audi where it will try to kill you if you're not smooth, I did want to try the M6 but realised quite quickly I can't drive it in the dry even before the rain hits! There was a theory posted on GTP that the players who are aggressive with the steering (which will include 99% of controller players) keep the front tyres warmer so are quicker in the wet, the logic makes sense

I have more confidence in the wet in ACC, I don't think PD has given wet tyres enough grip,

The tyre temp model for the IM/W's is just odd. Even driving IM's on a fully dry track sliding around on every corner you lose tyre temp. It's something PD needs to look into as it ruins longer wet races by making the driving experience horrible

Ye it is really really bizarre as I expect the tyres to overheat but they don't do that at all. It's random.

From what I have seen before the update off the racing line in the wet was the way to go, but after update some say on the racing line during wet weather. Great battle there, good stuff 👍 Beat the meta live 😮👍

Only come off the racing line on straights to keep the tires wet, reducing wear

Glad it wasn't just me who couldn't make sense of the rain conditions after seeing early week video stating to drive off the racing line. Was thinking im useless in the wet but seeing even you struggled Tifgney gave me hope i wasn't the only one confused

What a week for GT7 with this insane Race C and BoP updates mid-way. I love the R8 in the dry but I die if it doesn't rain and my rear tires wear out. So the AMG with TCS in the wet is my weapon of choice which has treated me well in the all-A lobbies.

I drove Peugeot RCZ in circuits like Fuji but I prefer to use Mazda RX as #1 choice in places like Spa, Interlagos and Grand Valley but definitely Peugeot RCZ is one of my backup cars alongside BMW M6 and Lexus RC F GT3 when Mazda RX is not working

If you get the blue rain band that will stop around lap 15/16 then Inters are the tyres to be on. If the forecast is rain until the end of the race then wet tyres are better as they keep the heat. If you pick inters they too cold and lose too much grip in the heavy rain towards the end. I do think the wet weather model is a little broken from what I can see. Doesn’t make sense how some people can be quicker on inters then full wets in heavy downpour?

I had the same issue in the NSX. Loved it in the dry, but in the wet it was dreadful! Just no grip from the front, at all. Wet line, dry line and deliberately trying to induce warmth in the Tyres and nothing worked 😢

Those are some really bad lap times in the wet, even I could manage 1.46s on inters with some laps in 45s, albeit in the Macca and tcs 2. Bimmer is surely one of the worst in the wet, but maybe try tcs 2 next time we have rain, it seemed fine for me? I used pretty much the same lines like you did.

yeah for some reason the RWD cars struggle in the rain did a race last night in supra and as soon as i put the inters on it wouldnt steer or drive anymore like driving on ice for some reason. be intresting to see what the differance is betweent the sprint and endurance model when the profie come outs. as for beat the meta looking at next week races if it is gr3 i thnk the old merc could be pretty good there especally if bmw and that are meta witch i wouldnt be surpriced if it not.. well done though for least trying it this week though gg

afaik there is a phone app which you connect to the PS and it gives you more telemetry data than what is shown on the UI of GT7

Sadly there isn't a good indicator. At most the white outline of where your tire health should be at. Will start turning red once you start overheating those tires

In your full speed fuel test, which basically doubles as an acceleration test, the BMW is currently P26. So the fact that the Renault is slightly faster on straights now is no cause for concern about the BoP. Come on, it spent most of its GT7 life at the absolute bottom of that test (P36 with 38 cars tested). Don't nerf it just because it moved up to middle class.

Yeah no doubt. One of my absolute favorite gr3 cars (has the most mileage of any of my gr3 cars on my main account, minus maybe the Porsche RSR). I've used to for so long while it was shite... Please let us enjoy it while it's competitive now.. lol

I have said this more than once....gran turismo has the rain physics so wrong....i'm terrible on acc but its rain physics are miles better and iracing's arent too bad either

I don't know if it counts as beat the meta but I won at Spa using Mazda RX with a pair of McLarens in the podium and for Race B I was capable of winning 4 races at least one time using those FF cars: Mazda3, Scirocco, Audi TT and Peugeot RCZ.

Tbf it seems like the game perfectly captures BMW handling in the wet, they're like a drunken duck on ice, just see any motorway in wet weather, more often than not an accident is caused by some prat in a BMW or Mercedes aquaplaning into the armco barrier 😂 I've never liked BMW, but after the nurburgring circuit experience with the m6 I f**king loathe them, it handled like dogs**t and it felt like I was wrestling a greased elephant up a water slide, and all BMWs I've driven in-game since then have only reinforced that opinion (they also have a front grille that is reminiscent of a certain Austrian dictators moustache, and I can't unsee it)

I'm not actually sure how much gt7 simulates wet lines. In the last couple years of been playing I've never felt the need to go off line in the wet

In the latest update you definitely have more grip off the racing line in wet conditions. Good for braking and acceleration off racing line. Cornering is very difficult to judge if it’s better taking a slower racing line in wet or try hang it around outside off racing line..

Depends on how wet the track is to be honest. MaxPower showed that in the race that Wets was the right decision in that regard.

What you are doing shows exactly why I feel like the "wet weather racing line" is not being represented. IRL, if you get onto the actual racing line, you are going for a ride. It's like riding on ice. But the game allows for you to go to the dry line in corners more often than not.
