The tenores di bitti are a typical "choir" from Sardinia. It is composed of 4 male voices and they only sing in sardinian language, it's rare to hear them sing in italian this is the first time for me.

The Sardinian "canto a tenore", absolutely original and indigenous, was included by UNESCO in 2005 among the "intangible heritage of humanity". It was born as an imitation of nature: the bass imitates the lowing of the ox, the contralto the bleating of the sheep, the mezzo voice the lamb and the soloist the man. The latter, singing the poem in the Sardinian language, must mark the rhythm and tonality that the actual choir must follow harmoniously. The way of "cantare a tenore" varies from area to area of Sardinia and is still very widespread. There are many examples on You Tube.

The original song was written and composed by Lucio Dalla - one of the most important songwriters of the Italian pop tradition - in 1977. It uses the sea as an allegory of the depth of injustice of the society of the time. However, the lyrics sound so contemporary and the music still so stunning and fresh today.

And the Sanremo's Press Room is dedicated to Lucio Dalla, and they give a prize in Sanremo. This year to Angelina Mango. The other important prize is dedicated to Mia Martini, and this year they gave it to her sister Loredana Berté.

Almost every town in Italy has its folk music and dialect, that's our richness, plus we have been land of conquer for centuries. Mahmood is very proud of his sardinian roots from mother side, that's why he feels the boy next door. This cover was so brave and soooo far from his style, I was speechless

The voice you hear at 03:20 is that of Lucio Dalla, the original performer of the song, a beloved singer who passed away in 2012 just a few days after his appearance at Sanremo. I cried like a child during this performance, just as I did during 'La Rondine' by Angelina Mango

This song pays homage to and recalls Sardinia (the Italian region of origin of Alessandro's mother). The choir sings in the regional Sardinian language.

That was a wonderful, amazing, heartbreking performance! It's a song by a very very popular singer and author .. Lucio Dalla.. who passed away some years ago.. so beloved in Italy! Mahmood and the Tenores have done a masterpiece.. Hope that this song , in this version will be included in Mahmood 's album, sorting out in these days!!! I love him❤

Maybe you get "Brividi" on your body because is February and you wear just a t-shirt (I am joking). I only know that the Tenores of Bitti are Sardinian and produce deep and vibrant sounds that remind an accordion.

I really appreciate the song, but I don't like his voice, " the colour "...a bit too high for a male perfomer ...like pop boy bands who sing high notes, it is just not something I like listening. I am Brit, but I don't like our song. If they wanted someone famous for Eurovision, who slays at Eurovision style music, they should have asked Dua Lipa to represent us, not him. Mango was a great choice, and I am really glad she won. Norway has amazing Gate, now Mango, stiff competition this year already, for sure.

Non capisco perché ha scelto di fare sta' canzone così moscia,monotona, triste, angosciosa e chi più ha , più ne metta..... Avrebbe potuto approfittare della presenza dei bravissimi tenores di Bitti per cantare un brano più vivo e brioso. Boh.

Più che non capire la scelta, a mio parare non capisci la meraviglia di questa canzone, di questa poesia. Lucio Dalla è sempre una scelta azzeccata, soprattutto per il Festival della musica italiana. Un meraviglioso ricordo ed una performance pazzesca.
