So, it's pretty complicated. Christopher Nolan was so concerned that the science be grounded in reality enough to be an actual possibility, that he had physicists publish a book explaining the science behind the movie. It's all way over my head, and the first time I saw it, I thought I was following along well enough, but I had to cheat and look it up on the internet to really understand. You can find people explaining it better than me, but the big question is who are "they"? The short answer is, that if you imagine a reality where Brandt makes it to Edmunds planet and carries out Plan B, "they" are the future of the human species, who now have evolved to be able to comprehend a world they can perceive in 5 dimensions. The only way to transcend time and communicate with us was gravity. They used their technology to create the wormhole, etc. in order to give us the tools to make Plan A succeed. So, essentially a hyper evolved future human species reached through time to save their long lost ancestors!

Or it could be a time loop in the same reality. Plan A always succeded because we always intervened because we inevitably discovered how to travel time; our future interference is the proof that we survived. (Assuming Murphy was taken seriously at some point later on lol. Her dad's testimony would help)

Anyone remember the trailer for this movie? Was so mysterious, just some dialogue of the rocket going into the atmosphere with coop driving in his truck. I was for sure Nolan was making a movie about farming and nasa 😂😂 can still remember the awe feeling I had watching it for the first time

I N T E R S T E L L A R IS ONE OF THOSE GREAT MOVIES EMMA THAT KEEPS GIVING & REWARDS REPEATED VIEWINGS BUT IF YOU REALLY WANT TO UNDERSTAND THE COMPLEX PHYSICS THAT IS DEPICTED IN THIS MOVIE I CAN HIGHLY RECOMMEND KIP THORNE'S EXCELLENT BOOK:- THE SCIENCE OF INTERSTELLAR AND IT DOES A GREAT JOB OF UNPACKING THE SCIENCE IN THIS MOVIE.👍

Hello, the interesting thing about this movie is that it is the most accurate information of man about the universe that we have so far because he worked with NASA and world scientists to create the script, Hans Zimmer composed the music and Chris Nolan came up with the script while listening to the music, Hans Zimmer is the sound the genius of today's music.

.Rubbish science. So...how did they accelerate to 99.9% of light speed to experience that sort of time dilation? Also, a planet orbiting at 99'5% of light speed would be torn apart by tidal forces. Still...cool story.

The planet is orbiting an older spinning black hole. As you know it pulls the space around it. Miller's planet orbits the black hole 10 times per second.

@@Stogie2112 they experienced both. Outside of the black hole we can observe it pulls space around it . Millers planet of course is within the orbit of gargantua always facing it. So inside it's a stable orbit, time passes normally, outside we can observe light speed as gargantua pulls the space around. Really is amazing
