However, he was blinded by the reward offered by his enemy, Nitta, and reported the location of Kunitoki, whom he had been hiding. The poor Kunitoki was executed at just 9 years old. 😢 However, his uncle Muneshige's actions were criticized by the people as "disloyal," and when Nitta found out and informed him that Muneshige would also be executed, Muneshige fled. In the anime, he is avenged, but in reality, Muneshige's end was that he was despised by his fellow samurai, abandoned, and became a beggar, starving to death.
