Vehicle Wrap Removal 4 yrs Later
In this video I’m attempting to display the plasti dip removal from a project done 4 years ago. Many people either wonder or ask the 2 big questions, How does the paint come off and will it effect the original paint? My answer to both questions is inside this video. Hopefully this video will be helpful to those interested in dipping or having their vehicle dipped, thanks for checking out the video and hope to see you in the comments.

I’m currently waiting for mine to be unwrapped after having it vinyl wrapped a week ago. I’m hoping it comes off without any paint damage. I love this color! I would of never known it wasn’t vinyl.

Yes they’re very similar, the only difference is the way you install them both. Yeah with vinyl that’s the risk when it’s removed, we all hope for no paint to come off while peeling. Why are you having it unwrapped after only 1 week?

@@newtouchauto the place I took it to didn’t do it correctly. They are supposed to be removing it for me so I can pick it up Friday. My vehicle is pretty new and the paint was ceramic coated so I’m hoping for the best.

Hey man great vid's found your channel recently and i've been inspired to start dippin , just waiting for the temp to warm back up, any advice for novice dippers?

Thanks for checking out them out, I appreciate it. My advice is to new dippers would be to be patient and learn as much as possible from videos. My biggest advice to you is follow all instructions and except when you make mistakes, realize that you can remove all issues

To tag onto that, I would recommend getting some test medium. I started with ordering some aluminum squares (2'x3') off amazon, but they weren't really good enough. I eventually just went to a junk yard and got a hood that wasn't in too bad shape. Only cost me $60. And get a stand like this one www.harborfreight.com/200-lb-capacity-portable-work-stand-38778.html so you can also practice spraying horizontally in addition to vertically. horizontally is the trickiest to get down as it's susceptible to tiger stripes

@@newtouchauto Haha. Yeah, gottta educate people somehow! I'm hoping Fonzie organizes a dipcon at some point! I'm moving back to Charleston SC in the summer, so won't be too far a drive. I'm about to drop that new ZBR on the S5. Will be my first hypershift pearl so I figured I should do my own car first. If you've got any tips, I'm all ears!

@@dipmyryde All facts bruh, once I get to the point of all my time I’d into dipping I’ll finally get a chance to make it out for a DipCon. That ZBR gonna hit different from any you’ve ever sprayed, them hypershifts give you wings lol. My only advice would be to not overload spraying hypershifts, continue with the 3 pearl coats needed. Also you’re gonna want to either use a satin or gloss finish, unless you want that matte look keep in mind that matte finishes kill any pearl and will dull down it’s potential. Oh and just follow their instructions to achieve the color they previewed 😆 don’t try to add a special effect bc you know them pearls ain’t cheap

@@newtouchauto I did test it on a hood, so I have a bit of an idea. Was definitely wondering on # of coats. Didn't want to oversaturate it to make sure the black shows through, but also want to make sure there's enough to get the full red. Good to know 3 is the magic #. As far as gloss level, I'm doing dip armor too, so it'll be more satin. It looks pretty good on the hood, but that's a smaller scale than a whole car and like you said, hypershifts are expensive af! Thanks for the tips!

@@dipmyryde Dip Armor isn’t a good idea if you’re looking for a satin or glossier finish, my opinion will be to mix the pearls directly into Dip pearl topcoat/Plasti Dip or Satin clear/Proline. DipCoat will definitely rob the pearls of their top potential, I recommend using Dip Armor for basic or standard colors like red or black bc it gives them a more professional satin look.

The ambient temperature in Saudi Arabia can arrive up to 55 degrees C can i use Plasti Dip to paint my car

With plasti dip products you want to be in the range of 65° and 80° when spraying, the wait time in between coats will take longer in lower temperatures. Anything less than 65° won’t allow the product to dry and stick correctly, anything hotter than 80° will dry to fast and clog up the spray system.

The pearls were mixed in the dip pearl topcoat gallon, if you would like to give your wrap extra protection you can always add a sealer coat of clear dip pearl topcoat.

Can you wash the car after you spray the plastic dip?

I do recommend you wash until about 5 days after you dip your vehicle, you want the paint to adhere properly. I do recommend applying the DipCoat protection spray after 4 hours from your last coat.

Nooo way, the inside of certain panels but nothing where the water will consistently take high pressure. Plasti Dip is the lowest level for removable liquid wraps, you’ll have to have the higher grade applied by a professional which is Autoflex Express. Autoflex will hold up to the high pressure from the speeds in the water.

As someone who works in R&D for Jotun, developing antifoulings I want to back up what he answered. All paints are not equal, and especially when it comes to paints that are exposed to saltwater. I would recommend you invest in some more expensive topcoats and antifoulings. And remember that the prep work will show in your final results.
