Also, his appearance in the Japanese version of the F-ZERO anime had a segment of his version of the Starfox game's Team Starfox who are his pit crew in F-ZERO.
Honestly I really want an open world F-Zero game. Like have tons of dedicated racetracks on multiple planets, but also have a highway system on each planet that you could explore and street race on, complete with traffic and police!

@@gator9339 that's not Visual Concepts, Battlegrounds is made by NBA 2K Playgrounds creators, Saber Interactive. That said, VC were screwed over by the publisher 2K, just like Yuke's before. Literally picking up an unfinished game by one company and making another do a crunch to get that fixed, even not having access to same mocap (they captured moves from videos, it's very noticeable if you compare fast DLC moves with regular slow 2K WWE ones) or resources... like EA screwed Bioware before for Andromeda (which was nowhere near as buggy as 2k19, let alone 20).
You forgot to mention how apparently Head-On also included the ending cutscenes from the original Twisted Metal game that were shelved in favour of text saying what happened to your character after beating the game. Pretty cool stuff.

A point for F-Zero GX: you can also unlock the AX tracks for GX, by playing them at a AX arcade machine. while its not the actual Arcade mode larry is talking about, its still a cool cross console/arcade feature. And to be honest, F-Zero GX was an AMAZING game for the F-zero franchise to end on, for now. probably one of the most hardcore racing games Nintendo has made.
I also thought you could also unlock them by winning the gold medals of every single track in every single difficulty (or something to that degree) and then provide the AX Cup as an unlockable?
@@crazyluigi6664 Yes you can. then you get expert / master or diamond difficulty... I can't even remember. Beating story mode on very hard to unlock the AX cars for purchase too. I beat everything but the first stage... lol
@@Xedhadeaus I had a couple of the stages unbeaten on Very Hard for Story Mode. As for how far I made it in GX... I know I beat Expert on a few cups, though I'm not 100% sure if I reached Master or not. Either way, I definitely didn't unlock the AX Cup, sadly. :(

I have TM: Extra Twisted Edition and back then I played the entirety of Twisted Metal Lost before ever starting the main game. TM: Black was my favorite and the possibility of playing its cancelled sequel was simply too awesome to contain.
I remember the hype the leak of a beta version of Pokemon Gold and Silver caused last year. Gaming companies could make big money with beta versions and unfinished games they have laying around in their files, rather than putting DLC everywhere. Beta content specially is amazing for fans of a franchise because it shows the what ifs and early ideas

Twisted Metal: Head on (ps2) was basically my Super Mario Bros growing up. I haddn't even played any other TM game before, but TM: lost was so fascinating and eerie. Really cool to see you talk about it! also on a side note: the level you showed at first in TM lost, is actually a level they cut from TML, and have to use gameshark to get to. Cut content within cut content! what a world we live in.
I just love it when game developers hide full games within their games, like how doom eternal hid both the first and second games in their entirety. It’s also fun when they hide demos of upcomimg games and things that were scrapped during production. Like when the developers of no more heroes put an interact teaser for no more heroes 3 in the ending of the latest spin-off. (I forgot it’s name, but it was a top-down hack and slash.) Or when ratchet and clank would have their insomniac museum, a secret area that housed all the scrapped items and challenges that the developers didn’t want to throw out.
By the way, you can apparently unlock the AX Cup in F-Zero GX, it's just extremely hard and took people like 10 years to do. You have to beat all the cups on Master difficulty. Though, it doesn't have the AX arcade interface like the AR code enables.

Definitely agree with what you said about Twisted Metal. I miss the days of free bonus content like that in games. You finally reached that suspicious ledge from the early areas of the game? You get a Behind The Scenes museum. You beat the whole game? You get God Mode to screw around and break the game.
Here is an interesting one: Pokémon puzzle challenge on the GBC contains a prototype for a cancelled Gameboy port of Panel de Pon (the basis for Tetris Attack). To access it, either press up(2x), right(4x), down, left(10x), up(4x), right, down(6x),b, a(24x), b(24x) on the title screen if playing on a gbc/gba, or put the cart in a super gameboy and press a(24x), b(24x)
You can't directly play F-Zero AX on the GameCube, but you *can* unlock the AX grand prix in F-Zero GX, and play those ridiculously hard (but fun) courses. I remember having to do something ridiculous to beat it, but when I did I was in awe at just how much new stuff there was to do. Dammit F-Zero GX was fantastic, and it even still holds up...
no mention of "guy savage"? that vampire hack and slash sequence hidden in metal gear solid 3? while it was a dream sequence to snake, it was intended to be sort of a proof of concept for another game kojima wanted to do, which was either a new ip entirely, or apparently zone of the enders 3. it was even removed from the hd and 3ds versions of mgs3. im surprised you didnt even acknowledge it, considering how well know it is, at least among metal gear fans
Ugh, I used to work for a company called London Trust Media who provided PIA services. The CEO or whatever of LTM was a 20-something alcoholic Chinese millionaire who micromanaged while drunk. One time, he literally took his private jet to our call center to go on a drunken verbal rampage against the agents, and the manager of the call center owned him solid. Hi, yes I read the captions. Also, worth noting that the arcade tracks for GX are meant to be unlockable by bringing a GCN memory card to the actual arcade machine, which had a port to accept it. Then you'd be able to play them at home. The key problem there being it was almost impossible to play AX anywhere in the States. Fun idea, just really short sighted in practice.
Battlezone 2000 on the Atari Lynx has a hidden game bigger than the main game accessible by a button combination. It was actually the original version of the game, but Atari thought it was too hard so it was changed to a simpler game using the wireframe look of the original arcade game.
I actually played the arcade version of f zero in an arcade called galloping ghosts near Chicago, it was awesome since the chair you sat it moved when you moved your vehicle

All of AX's content (the tracks and characters, specifically) were already unlockable in GX. They just required you to beat the Story Mode missions on every difficulty to get it all.
Most of AX's content (Tracks, Parts, and Vehicles) are unlockable by clearing Master difficulty of each Cup in Grand Prix in 1st place and clearing the story mode on hard and very hard, respectively, then buying them in the shop. The only thing missing are the golden AX-exclusive parts that could be only earned by organized AX tournaments and only accessible nowadays by hacking.

Easy to forget the Atari Lynx, but the cancelled "original" version of Battlezone 2000 is playable on the retail version with just a code. The original was cancelled by Atari bc they thought it was too difficult, but the developers left it in the game (its much better too).
On a scale of all the things not happening, that's not happening _the most_ Nintendo keeps on pretending that the poor VB never existed. The 3DS would've been a magnificent opportunity to rerelease the catalog, but that didn't happen... I, too, wish to see it find the light of day someday. Same for Dragon Hopper. Bound High was excellent!

The Rayman 2 prototype was only in the PlayStation version of Rayman 2, but with how many ports and re-releases that game got, I'd be confused too. And ironically, it's one of the silver linings of the PlayStation version as that port was rather butchered.
Interesting you should mention 'RoadKill", a game set in a post-pandemic world recoiling from a virus with the symptoms (as the game puts it) "Fever, headaches, chills, muscle pain and (of course) coughing" and in which "Civil rights are suspended as research labs work around the clock to find a treatment." The game says it all. If anyone doesn't believe me just lookup "Roadkill intro" Anyway thanks for the videos during this time Larry. I always find the bizarre categories that you come-up with thoroughly entertaining and intriguing.

While far from a full game: There is a Demo for a cancelled game, speculated to be a possible Castlevania game, in Metal Gear Solid 3. It's been a while, but IIRC: when you're supposed to escape from a cell, post-torture, lay down on the bed, then save and quit. When you load your file, suddenly you're running and jumping around dual wielding swords fighting monsters, and turning into a werewolf thing. Until Big Boss wakes up from his nightmare about vampires.
I thought that the original Rayman 2 was only included on Rayman 3 pretty early into the game, but didn't know that it was also inside The Great Escape also
You can still unlock all the AX tracks and characters by clearing GX's hardest story challenges and Diamond Cup on Master-Class, so I'm content with that. It's tough as nails, but very rewarding.

The PlayStation was the first video game system my parents ever bought me. It was 1998 and I was only 6 years old, and because I was so young and had only had an NES before that, I had no idea about what games were popular at the time. The first game my dad ever bought me was the original Rayman 2-D platformer. As a child, I always thought I just wasn't that great at video games because I could barely get past the 3rd stage. Little did I know that Rayman has a reputation as one of the hardest games ever made LOL and it was the first PS1 game I ever played. Not long after I started buying copies of PlayStation Magazine sold at the grocery store, and I played a bunch of demos of now classic games including Metal Gear Solid and Spyro. I ended up owning and playing a lot of them. God, there were some weird games for PlayStation being made (example: Mr. Mosquito 😂). Beating games like MGS as a child, it became pretty obvious to me I didn't suck at video games, Rayman was just hard! But I still look back at it with fondness for all the times I died, all the time my 6 year old self wasted trying to beat this impossible video game.
I'm a little surprised that "Guy Savage"(within the PS2 version of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater) wasn't mentioned, but I'm not sure it would have met whatever criteria this video set for the "Cancelled games hidden in fully released games" as the game was cancelled *after* being included within Snake Eater, not before.
Learning from SSFF, did you know that there's also a cancelled GBA port of Dakar 2 on the Gamecube version of it? And even it's entirely playable, all you need it's a GCN-GBA link cable and you'll be able to download the game to the GBA link cable (one track at time though due to the Link cable's RAM limitations).

I was hoping metal gear solid 3 would be included. When snake is in the prison cell you can have a dream sequence that allows you to play a game based on killing zombies. Although the argument could be made that the hidden game in that title wasn’t complete, just a short demo of a canceled one.
I remember completing Rayman 2 100% one night and was surprised to see what could've been. I can only imagine if they stuck to their guns. Kinda funny considering we're back with 2D now.

The Hidden game within Battlezone 2000 on the Lynx should count, the higher ups put the breaks on it for more traditional Battlezone, but as far as I'm aware the full game is accessible, this would've been a better choice than an Arcade game that nobody can play the cancelled game.
