The days are getting shorter and the nights longer, which means it is time for another night ride! Rainfall makes driving a bit more challenging, but the reward is a peaceful ride through mother nature and a calming video for you to enjoy! Welcome aboard the IR75, connecting Lucerne with Constance. We‘re in Zurich, about to depart to Constance, Germany. We stop at major stations like the Airport and Winterthur. After Weinfelden, a left turn takes us onto the former MThB (Mittelthurgau Railway) Route to Kreuzlingen, 20‰ steep uphill and downhill again, through a beautiful landscape. A few minutes stop in Kreuzlingen and then follows the final stretch to Constance, where we will see German signalisation and cross the border into Germany. Sit back and enjoy the wet ride from the comfort of your home!

Speaking obviously for myself, and not having the financial means to visit Europe and travel by rail, which is absolutely fascinating to get up close to this beautiful country, these videos allow me to see the splendor of God's creation! Being a night-ride, this video really does give an amazing good sight of the surroundings. The thing I found most surprising was the fact, that despite the pouring rain, there is hardly any visible trace of water on the camera or windshield. My question would be: How did you manage to keep a clear view under these conditions?

The lens is so close to the windshield, it simply doesn't pick up individual drops. You do see a difference to a dry and clear windshield for a split-second after the wiper blade has passed.

Brilliant….. I lasted right to the end. One question, in Britain, trains run on the left, the same as road traffic…..this train started on the right, the same as continental road traffic, then switched to the left. Travelling from Paris to Colmar last year, that train did the same….is that normal in Europe?, if so, why?

Our trains run on the left and it is indeed because of the British. However we can freely use both tracks and that freedom is used frequently during construction works, disruptions etc.

Do not normally like night runs, but the lighting on this unit is very good plus areas of the railway that has lights. Looks like we where about 1 degree from it snowing some more.

Another amazing cab ride as usual. The rain and fog was just mesmerizing at times! I noticed one thing which I usually haven't noticed before. After leaving Zurich, you went over quite a few turnouts, you switched tracks in the middle of the Wipkinger Tunnel, you went over those turnouts at Oerlikon. But except for the first signal while departing Zurich HB, all other signals were green, with no indication of restrictive speed for any of the track switching. So are all the turnouts cleared for track speed?

Correct, if a signal does not show any other aspect other than green and we still change tracks, it means that those switches are made to be crossed at track speed.

kind of odd to me that the train is going forward on the left of a double track, but later in the video it switches back and forth a couple times.

Great video. I love seeing colourful cities at night (as long as I'm somewhere safe). You certainly need route knowledge working your way out of Zurich. The signals change from left side to right and back again. When it's busy, you'd have to be certain which was yours, especially at night.

Bin in der Schweiz immer von spiez aus gefahren alles in der Schweiz hat super funktioniert Max 3 min Verspätung bis zu dem Unfall im Tunnel danach war Verspätung 20 min plus normal

I was riding with IR75 from Luzern to Zürich in August and it got cancelled when coming into Zürich. I have not experienced a cancelled train in Switzerland before. It was like 7 min late into Luzern and 11 min or so late when we left. After Baar it went sooooo slow. We were waiting a long time between the tunnels. So after that they said they were cancelling it when arriving into HB It was fine for me i was back in Zürich anyway :)

und wieder ein wahnsinnig tolles und interessantes Video. Herzlichen Dank dafür! Die Farben und die Stimmung bei Nacht und Nebel sind einfach genial... Ich wollte kurz fragen... wurde das Video mit 30 fps aufgenommen...? Vermutlich kann die Kamera (wie die meisten Kameras) in 4 K nicht mit 60 fps aufnehmen. Deshalb "ruckelt" es bei schneller Fahrt etwas im Bereich links und rechts der Gleise. Aber das ist Jammern auf allerhöchstem Niveau... Danke für das Teilen dieser genialen Aufnahmen... Das Selbe gilt auch für die anderen Videos in diesem Kanal. Die eingeblendeten Infos sind sehr informativ und hilfreich. Nochmals Danke!

Die Nachtaufnahmen sind bewusst in 24p aufgenommen, da die einzelnen Bilder so länger belichtet und das Video entsprechend heller wird. 4K60 würde theoretisch gehen, die Aufnahme wäre aber nicht so lebendig. Bei Tag halte ich mich natürlich an die 60fps ;-)

I'm getting accustomed to the super quality of your night rides and appreciate that you spent funds to provide us with this night-time quality. The only drawback is the increased reflected glare from the motor vehicles on roads adjacent to the track. "… a left turn takes us onto the former MThB (Mittelthurgau Railway) Route to Kreuzlingen, 20‰ steep uphill and downhill again, through a beautiful landscape …". Just a pity is was so damned wet and cloudy and misty! 😀😀😀 I presume the flashing yellow on the descent from Berg is to do with the speed of the descent. Am I anyway near correct?
