Yeah man, she needed that adjustment very badly... I'm not sure who the mechanic was before, but this just wasnt right at all! But now she runs nice and happy!
Thanks man, got to keep those valves adjusted properly. Not only does it affect the sound, but it will also affect the performance and if they're too tight you can burn valves. One of those important maintenance things. I usually address it about once a year seeing how I have too many vehicles and don't drive each of them too much.

We heard a story of many years ago about an English driver of a VW fastback who visited Germany on holiday, The car not being used to high speed motoring on German autobahns ran a bigend and stopped at the side of the road. A rep from VW was passing by and stopped. He looked at the mileage and said this should not have happened ! So he had the car and passengers collected, taken to a hotel and the VW factory where they fitted a brand new engine, Took the car to the hotel and let the English family continue with their holiday no charge. How things have changed?

Good valve adjustment tutorial. My 74 has points surprisingly. Watching the points open to get TDC is good for a one man job. If you had an electronic ignition, how would you find TDC on the cylinder? Also, do you think. 004 is too tight? 👍🦆. Noel
VW said that .004 is too tight, but that was after some revision... their older manuals suggested it. I did say in the video what the alternative method is to find TDC! 😁👍🦆💩
Nah, I said look at the markings on the fan. But I also said probe the piston. A dwell meter or even a continuity checker, a test light, or one of your taillights will even work if you want to get complicated.

I guess nothing has ever broken nor come loose on you, LOL! I agree, everything should be adjusted and looked over before you leave. But I guarantee if you drive one of these things regularly, you will eventually come across a reason to have to adjust you valves out on the road somewhere. There’s so many different things that can go wrong. But what do I know, this is my first time on RU-vid!
@@DuckmanCycles I've only worked on Australian car's and modern plastic VW beetle, brakes, someone before me used hose clamps (brake line's, which are plastic) but anyway best to you
Then the intake heats up, and holds the valve open slightly. It could potentially backfire, but it will underperform when engine gets warm. Usually you can tell when someone has done this, as you find the intake ports and manifold is all black on the inside.
