I've gone much deeper on my perspective as a personal injury lawyer on self-driving cars here: lambergoodnow....
Until recently, I’d never been in a robotaxi. I’ve seen Waymos on the street and have been curious about how safe they are.
As a personal injury lawyer, I had to to see why robotaxis have become a routine part of the streetscape in and around Phoenix.
Follow along on my first ride as I share my thoughts about why I think Waymo robotaxis are becoming so safe that soon, I’ll be out of business.

1) It's 115F out in PHX. 2) Once people sit down in the driver's seat, they suddenly think that their head is cemented and doesn't move at all. To eliminate the blind spot, you need to turn your head. AND always observe your rear view mirror. I did my driver's license in Germany and if you forgot to do these two tasks, you would not pass the exam. In the US, people look at you as if you're an alien if you dare to mention it; folks here say that these are dangerous activities. 3) These systems work fine until they suddenly don't... There is this one negligent death case against Tesla, where a glitch happened, and people straight up drove into a cliff. The passenger escaped, the driver burned alive because lithium batteries create a hellfire cremation inferno and the door didn't open because the door system is electric. And that new Cybertruck case - they were unable to even read the VIN so they waited when someone reports the person missing to figure out who that was.
