With my tractor out of commission, I’m unable to complete my fire season preparations or move logs and lumber. With your help can I get it back up and running and save $400 in the process? 💰
In this video, I’ll start by checking the fuses and then testing and cleaning the battery terminals, as suggested by some amazing subscribers! Will these steps be enough to revive my tractor?

I truly believe engineer's have a yearly reward for designing inaccessible areas and placing key components there.

I have helped others working on John Deere frontend loader, not staring, dead battery, or darn seat safety contactors, jumping on the seat to get it started and darn relays. Glad it was found. :)

That would be a pain! I have those seat switch on my lawn tractor but it still works :D

Can certainly appreciate the frustration with tractor repairs. I own an early 70's David Brown w/a loader. Like how wide the front tires are on yours. `Luck. 👍

Never heard of a 'David Brown' tractor! Ya, my tractor has the 'industrial' tires on it vs the agro tires.

Hey anytime you can check out the simple stuff, sometime it can save you a lot of money. Most of the time with outdoor equipment corrosion is the problem . Good job Glad you got it going again free of charge….😂

Yup, and if I'd checked my attitude last time, I might have fixed it then LOL

When you had the dash apart , did you find the problem with the PTO?

Nope. Had to be under the chasis

If memory serves me right, a little baking soda and water will clean that battery corrosion.. 🤔 9:13
@TheOldJarhead
@TheOldJarhead Месяц назад
I bet that would work. I used to buy these green and red washers made of felt and treated with a No-Ox compound.
@paulmonk7820
@paulmonk7820 Месяц назад
@@TheOldJarhead Yes, that is a good preventive. You can also make a paste out of baking soda and Vaseline to put on the terminals after cleaning.
@TheOldJarhead
@TheOldJarhead Месяц назад
Thanks for sharing that tip! A baking soda and Vaseline paste sounds like a practical way to keep those terminals in great shape.

I may be now that I think about it but I figure next time I'll try to have more tools ;) As I need to reroute my aux lights to the dash too.

When all of the dust settles you might want to take the air filter out and blow it out. Save yourself some other adventures down the road.
@TheOldJarhead
@TheOldJarhead Месяц назад
True! I usually do that at least a couple times a year. I've been lucky there so far I think because of the way the filter sits maybe.
