I'm English. I'm feeling down after that result, but the better team won BY FAR. We had amazing players that could create magical moments, but as a team, we never dominated any of our games. I think Spain are tactically brilliant with supurb technique. This was the difference between the sides. You cannot leave any of their players unmarked even for one moment. Englands marking was poor in the second half, they lacked discipline off the ball and only Pickford kept them in the game. Also people in England keep finding fault with individuals. Football is a team game. Spain have long realised this and they utilise their squad of players brilliantly. I am a massive three lions fan, but I am honest enough to see that they will never win a tournament unless they change their outdated philosophy. Spain are world class and on another level. Englands standout performer was Cole Palmer.

Spain deserved to win. As an Englishman I can say that, had England won, having played such unwatchable ‘football’ throughout the tournament, it would have signalled the death of football. Coaches at every level - especially youth coaches - copy the style that brought success. How dreary had they been given reason to emulate Southgate. This is a great channel. Real Madrid are a great team. But their reputation is forever stained by Sergio Ramos. A great player. But a cheat. Being a football aficionado not totally convinced Gareth Southgate is a culprit. What England could do under the auspices of Goran Ericsson? Nothing! They could not even reach the semifinals of major tournament let alone reaching finals. Gareth groomed up a great English side and took them to the finals of two European championships- where England's performance has invariably been dismal. Indeed, disheartening for English fans to concede they have lost two consecutive European Championships, heaping frustration and insult on coach Gareth Southgate. England must take more risk and should give chances to young talents with innovative strategy and positive attitude. Last but not the least, plenty of practises and tact to win penalty shootouts- England's Achilles hill. They were outsmarted by Italians in Euro 2021, when I was wholeheartedly supporting them, and they lost on Penalties- the ghost of World Cup 1990, Euro 2024, World Cup 2006 and Euro 2012 came haunting them.
Yep I kind of agree but cannot help thinking that Gareth's England teams have benefitted from some exceptionally easy rides through to the latter stages of the tournaments whereas the Ericsson teams came up against very stiff opposition at quarter final stages in 2002 and 2006 World Cups. I bet Gareth and the rest of the boys could not believe the way Euro 2024 panned out for them as they muddled through the Bring on the Clowns side of the draw. England have the players to win major tournaments. But not the manager. Southgate in his defence has done great to transform England into semi-finalist, Finalist and his mannerism impeccable a true gentleman. @@SlowfingerJC if the one thing the England have done is develop players ever since the start of the George's set up, youth has become a massive part of the development plan, yes before Southgate its been the same old England but what England cant be criticised on is developing the future, its been going on for well over a decade now and we are producing top talent, what England have done once again is appoint the wrong manager, the players we have we should be steam rolling teams but we have Southgate who plays not to lose rather than win, that's what England have done wrong over and over the last 50 years, they need to give promote the u21 boss up to the main Job, hes very different than Southgate, very very good tactically and hes won tournaments with the players now moving into the senior squad, if not him then they need to get an attacking minded manager with a clear philosophy, England have the tools, just need the man who knows how to use them, we should of won at least 2 trophies under Southgate but his defensive mind ruins it everytime
@@ianmcdonald3053 Your not convincing me that there is a clear strategy. The manager should just be fine tuning not developing a strategy just prior to a competition. England has been blaming the managers and players for 50 years. The problem was and still is quite clearly the same. Developing individual talent isn't developing a team concept. Germany can pull a left back player from anywhere in Germany and he knows exactly what his roll is because he has been taught it since he was a child. The classic example of this was the seamless transition from Philip Lahm to Joshua Kimmich. In the German team that is just one small example.

Gareth Southgate is the best English coach in history. Under his reign England has reached semifinal in world cup and twice finalist in the euro s. Prior to that England was even struggling to reach the quarter finals having been finalist only once in 66 and semifinalist only in 1990
He got lucky in the euros 24, a slew of crap teams to go through. They play a proper team like Spain and they lose. Just like how they got far in the previous tournament and then got beat by Belgium.
England lost because we didn't stick to the plan. The country demanded entertaining football and so we got punished for being too ambitious If only we had stuck to Southgate's boring football, packed our defense, and not made those mass excursions deep into the opposing half. We could have kept the score at 1:1 and done it on penalties. Our ability with penalties meant we were already a goal up. They had to come at us for the win. If only...

As far as I recall, this Euro24 was the 'fairest' tournament so far since the lucky factor didn't weight at all, regardless how 🇬🇧 reached the final. @@ArtyFactual_Intelligence They are not machines but human beings. They can have bad games too. Man City, Arsenal, Real Madrid, Bayern,... don't have all of them. They have only one or two English players. Other players have different quality from them. To be able to squeeze many of them into a squad and produced this result is already great. Remember that when Real Madrid focused mostly on star players, they didn't win much either in Spain or Europe. It took some time for them to Conquer Europe again. Back to back major tournament Final is already great. It may take them a few more Finals to achieve glory. Some lessons can only be learned from real life experiences not just in theories.

I wonder what your background is or how you were brought up but you were insensitive, arrogant and rude in the way you gave your opinion about England. As you have admitted, not only are the players expensive (because they are quality) but also very talented. You also admitted the players were 'restricted' from expressing themselves, and rightly so, which is why their talent was not on display as many expected. That is the only reason your players appeared better: next time, it could be a completely different ball game, especially if the next coach is someone who allows them to express themselves more.
