I can't see it being anything major for next year if they are just now filing. Construction is normally under way at this point. So not sure how that would divert attention.
@jasonkloos6348 Canada’s Wonderland started construction for their new coaster a few months back. So, technically it can be done. Depends what the new ride requires. Wonderland new ride needed a massive power bank built for the new coaster and future rides.
The Snake River Falls plot of land is very intriguing and there’s a lot of things that Cedar Point can do with it (i.e. a new roller coaster, flat ride package, water ride, etc.). I’ve feel that the park needs some more rides and a potential expansion. Also, this could help the park potentially bridge Frontier Trail into the Gemini midway. Now, as for what could go into the plot of land, I think that a GCI Twisted Wooden Coaster (similar to Mystic Timbers down at Kings Island) makes the most sense. Cedar Point lacks a solid, modern wooden coaster and this would really complement the park’s lineup.
CP needs to do something new aside from TT2. Prior to that, their last all-new coaster was Wild Mouse, which is now 2 years old. Interesting to see what can happen there. CP's take on Big Bear Mountain at Dollywood would be great in that area...
If you ever visited Cedar Point from the early 80s to early 2000s, did you ever ride White Water Landing? It was a flume ride that was at the park from 1982 to 2005. Maverick stands where that used to be.
On Twitter, RMC responded to their post and told them they should put a Wild Moose there. Probably doesn't mean anything, but RMC's been known to tease stuff like that in the past...
I think a wooden coaster like a GCI or a Gravity Group would work well and I think a launched family coaster like Big Bear Mountain or even a motorbike coaster would be great too.
The new Six Flags won't touch Intamin. Have heard the same with Universal after they finish contracts and the Sea World parks too. Intamin's attitude and customer service have turned the parks off.
@@hockeyislife7686 the general public doesn't know this though. A lot of GP thinks that RMC's are still wooden coasters. From an enthusiast perspective a wooden coaster would be perfect it'd unfortunately be pretty hard for a park like Cedar Point to market.
My vote is for an observation tower similar to Eiffel Tower at Kings Island. We would get an amazing view of the region no matter where it was built. Of course another coaster by RMC would be nice. How about a Vekoma boomerang? I agree, a woodie similar to Mystic Timbers would be fantastic.
A perfect ride selection for the replacement of Volcano. Now if Kings Island is as creative with their decision with a new coaster on the Vortex plot ! A winged coaster would be a good choice. Great review. I’ve been watching your other RU-vid video’s too. Fantastic job Taylor and Sarah !
Connecting Frontier Trail with Camp Snoopy only makes sense if CP is going to add a bunch of family rides to the island. That path would be **useless** as a shortcut between major coasters. It does NOT help guests navigate between Millie and TT2 to SteVe and Mav any faster. So if the paths on the island will be opened, it will ONLY be for a massive family area. If this is to happen (eventually, certainly not within the next 2 years), then SRF needs to be replaced with a family coaster / attraction. This could involve removing the park's skycoaster and using the combined plot for a Mack water coaster just over 100 feet tall. This would give CP a needed new family thrill coaster near CCMR. But I don't see CP extending it onto the island, reminding guests of Shoot The Rapids, especially after the additional expenses of TT2. They'll go for a height and speed record for a water coaster, but not length. (Unless it's the longest single-lift water coaster)
This is really funny because I was there on Sunday and saw it break down and am wondering if that could've been the last straw to make this decision. BTW I love your videos and hope you keep up the good work and your enthusiasm to research and share with others things about the theme park industry.
All the enthusiast are going to have my head for this but...centralize the kids zones (phase out Kiddie Kingdom/Planet Snoopy for further expansion of the boardwalk area), bring several of those rides towards the back and make the island part of the new Camp Snoopy Midway with Big Bear Mountain style coaster, or even a "Race for your Life Charlie Brown" Water Coaster as its tentpole
Removing Snake River Falls leaves Cedar Point with only Whitewater Canyon as a water ride. Coaster-warriors always want a new coaster. The bridge between the two would be a Mack PowerSplash like Walibi Belgium's Pulsar. I'd go with a faux wood and rust metal color scheme similar to Steel Vengeance. A good name for it would be Snake River Top Splash.
I know the coaster enthusiasts are excited about the prospect of a potential new coaster or perhaps a flat ride package, but I have a better, more innovative idea of a replacement for Snake River Expedition: a new restaurant. Johnny Rockets, Subway, or Chick-fil-a would make for a unique experience that cannot be found anywhere else.
My guess is Zamperla has let them get a new water ride for no money down...If they believe in them and get top thrill 2 working than they can make payments to Zamperla...I feel like Zamperla's reputation is on the line and they would make Cedar Point a sweet deal to not get discouraged about them.
As much as i want to see something big and exciting like a gci, I feel like a big bear mountain style coaster would look really cool in this space paired with a few flat rides
I don't think the Zamperla idea would be a bad idea for the point. They are good at family coasters. But that would allow for a flat and restaurant to be added to that area as well. Could you do a updated tier list for the Six Flags Parks, Consider the Cedar Fair parks are now apart of it
Called like a year ago on this channel. If they remove that and Thunder Cayon, They could build a monster coaster. The lift hill would start where Thunder Cayon is and end where SRF lift starts. A lot of room for a drop and a ton of room for track. It could drop facing Milennium.I don't think they will be doing a racer. They have one alread. Gemini.
Any chance they use this land to expand Camp Snoopy and turn Kid Kingdom into an expansion of The Boardwalk? If I had a vote, I agree with you on the wooden coaster, bt if 2024 has taught us something, Cedar Point needs another people eater to help with the horrid lines.
If they are building a prototype they need to start early and give it plenty of test time to work out any issues considering what just happened with TT2.
Cedar Point did have a Mack water coaster in their survey a few months ago. I could fully see them going with either that or the Zamperla multilaunch family coaster concept from the surveys too.
The Aqua coaster comments have been going for what feels like over 30 years... So who knows, maybe the squirrels finally get their right acorn, and they can cool off and stop driving Tony nuts asking about an Aqua coaster.
5:50 I've originally predicted a Mack PowerSplash called "Snake River Bash" back when I was predicting that Snake River Falls would be a later removal.
Maybe they add a modern flume like catapult falls, built by intamin in a two for one deal that causes Intamin to fix Top Thrill 2, perhaps shoot the rapids 3.0?
I wouldn't be surprised that there aren't any water rides in any their dry parks soon because if you look at the trend they haven't tried any new ones in the last 10 years I think they are going to start adding them to the water parks, also I think Thunder Cannon is going soon giving that this type of ride is having issues at many parks
I think we’re looking at a gradual transition of that area to include both a new midway and roller coaster for the coming years. Whatever comes first most likely correlates with how early they’re planning on putting in a new coaster. With the current Top Thrill 2 situation, they may decide to do the midway first. Under normal conditions, I’d say they would milk the Sky Coaster for what it’s worth instead of removing two attractions at once.
New ride has gotta have water elements! I like that the portion of that area is like a water-ish park with the changing rooms and dryers and the other water ride next to it
Sad to hear it go. It was a short but sweet ride. Great drop and got the job done getting you soaked. It’s a shame my toddler’s won’t be able to grow up to experience the splash on the bridge.
This is not one of the better water rides but I do get sad to see any water ride close. My main hope is that it's replaced with another water ride. A single water ride often does much more for a ride line up than an individual coaster does. There are almost always more coasters and flat rides than water rides and that makes sense. But if makes each water ride all the more vital to keep the park broadly appealing.
An old school log flume with a dark ride section would be best. Not interesting in the slow, boring and gimmicky modern interpretations. Need to be constantly channeling downward and bouncing off the channel sides -- no long pokey trips around a level course.
I know it’s boring- but I think cedar point could benefit a lot building a long multi launch family coaster that interacts with some water elements. Also would be reliable and safe compared to last project…
I feel like a Mack extreme spinner wouldn’t be built here because they just got a spinning coaster. Yes it’s a family coaster but I think it would be a little too similar plus I feel a modern woodie like gci like u said would be a way better fit because cedar point needs something else besides blue streak
Also I feel that cedar point needs another big coaster if their gonna get a coaster. The last big coaster too open that’s not top thrill 2 because that is closed for the season was Steve. And top thrill two yes is a whole new ride experience but it’s still sorta the same ride. I think a new thrill coaster would fit very well and bring cedar points rep back up because they’re just losing coasters atp. They have a decent amount of family coasters and if I’m not mistaken gci woodies have a similar height requirement too family coasters so I think it would fit perfectly
I think you’re right. I see CP announcing a new coaster before the end of this year. I wouldn’t have said that before the screw up with TT2, which let’s be honest, is not likely to open again this year. But I think CP will want to flip the script on the news cycle and bring some excitement back.
I would like to see something like maxx force put into the picture you drew out. It could be the fastest accelerating coaster in the world with a large layout.
CF does not seem very committed to wood and water right now. I have to wait and see if Carowinds is in fact building a new water ride in their 2025 Camp Snoopy expansion. If so, there may be hope for a water ride at the Point.
I'm not surprised. These Shoot the Chutes rides (as well as Rapids rides) are a paint for maintenance crews and can't run in colder weather; then again one year when I went to Great Adventure for Fright Fest; Congo Rapids did run in the afternoon at about 54 F temperature. I say a GCI or Gravity Group wooden coaster or a 10 inversion Gerstlauer Infinity
Cedar Point needs more flat rides. They had way more back in the early 2000’s. The flat ride offering has faded. Overall they have less rides now than they did in 2006/07
Replacing the Iron Bore would be a good option for adding a F.L.Y. coaster. That is a big area and they could add something that does not make you fall asleep while riding it.
Well I was just going to mention the Mach power splash or something taller like that The thing is the only Mack power splash is at the six flags park in texas i do believe but the thing is I would love to see a mack power splash in some of the other parks like Canada's Wonderland. If you decide to do a canada's wonderland thoughts about a next coaster perhaps i will offer my thoughts there. Remember we have an announcement for their currt current up coming coaster coming up thursday next week. I also do think they should do some more flat rod rides at cedar point even if they did all extreme ones perhaps an air race or something that has never been built before. I i am still thinking there is other flat ride types that have not been built yet. but maybe they are saving those yet to be built types for Canada's Wonderland though just don't know. We do however need more of those zamperla nebula's i have heard people just love that type of ride and we need more of those.
I'm thinking they're going with a the Mack water coaster. It was one of the options given in the survey plus it's replacing a water attraction with another one. They could still do an 'expansion' and a new attraction. I would love a Vekoma flyer but I see them sticking within the water theme. Otherwise there is only one water ride.
My choice would be an old school log flume, I don’t like the 2 seat across log flumes. And my choice wood coaster would be the gravity group shuttle coaster with an inversion that Dorney was going to get before they got iron menace, but made completely with the precut track like Bobcat.
there are so many good ideas I think they could do, like that wooden coaster some of my favorites are a B&M Surf Coaster, an Intamin Ultra Surf (since Six Flags is starting to work with Intamin again), or a Mack Xtreme Spinner or Stryker could all fit really well imo!
Thunder Canyon needs a friend. I'm really hoping that they do a new Mill Race or White Water Landing type ride, but I'd be down with a water coaster. More than anything, let's not have that place dry out.
I personally would like a Vekoma flyer because it would be a unique experience for CP and it would likely buy an extreme- long model due to the fare price of Vekoma’s with several launches. Would be nice to have one that flies over the lake somehow but I know that would not likely happen.
So a few things, vamperla didn’t do Cedar Point in the wrong, they bought a prototype, knowing it was a prototype and they were in a hurry to get the ride fixed. Again fixing million dollar problems with Dollar General solutions. I honestly think that it would be a water ride, not a roller coaster, but if it is a roller coaster, there’s nothing stopping them from going over. Top of millennium force and using other bits and pieces of land that are not highlighted.I would love to see another water ride, but that’s just me.
I could see a Mack water coaster killing two birds with one stone here. It would replace a water ride with a NEW water ride….but also a COASTER, putting them up to 18! If that does well, I could see them going back to Mack for an extreme spinner a few years down the road.
I have been Dreaming of a dark ride HEAR ME OUT something that is themed and at least moderate thrill level to accommodate most families and also be something that could get a Halloween overlay considerinf Halloweekends popularity 😱 that part of the park is THE prime spot for this! You know they want to make theming work!! especially in the most themed “Frontier Town” after SRE (which I believe staffing was the barrier there). And they know how much we loved Disaster Transport!!!!! They could knock a concept like this out of the park, I know it! Please! 😂😂
I kinda thought this was slated for closing because it was supposed to open this year on Memorial Day weekend and it didn't open until like 2 weeks later
Seeing this here and coaster studios video on here and here my thoughts on what can replaced it. I think the most likely one is a Mack water coaster, but my 2nd choice is a GCI wooden coaster. I don’t think they will go for Mack extreme spinner since they already have a spinning coaster.
I'd like to see a Dark Coaster, as a nod to disaster transport. Kings Island has their Flight of Fear, I think a dark ride is what they need, I was sad when disaster transport was removed.
