I don't count J2A or the Catapult Falls as coaster credits. They're water rides Apart from that, the rankings are accurate. The purple kiddie one in Sesame I rode in 2004 just before I aged out of that.

For anyone saying Knott's cant fit a Giga, or that Knott's is a family focused park and the Giga should go to Magic Mtn, I say this... Disneyland has "family" rides that drop, and a launch coaster with a loop. Both rides, Guardians Mission breakout, and incredicoaster have extremely low height limits, 40" for Guardians and 48" for incredicoaster. And families love those rides, you see 6 year Olds riding these rides. Knott's has Xcelerator (82 mph launch coaster), Supreme Scream a 310ft tall S&S drop tower, Silver Bullet and Hangtime both are inversion heavy rides, these rides are being labeled as "family" rides? I think people forget that Gigas don't have inversions, don't have uncomfortable high G moments that make it hard to re-ride, and it's drop is not a stomach dropping drop, it's a slowly crawl over and bukld speed drop, that's why people say it feels like it goes on forever. Its FAST and pure FUN!! RU-vid search 1st time ridding fury to see all the kids reaction to riding Fury, they LOVE it! So, after stating these facts, hopefully folks will understand that a Giga is a good fit, it's a "family" ride, it's won the golden ticket award for best steel coaster almost 20x over the past 25 years since Millennium Force, Fury 325 won the award again this year. A Giga at Knotts is exactly what the park needs to complete its offerings, as well as serving the parks' needs in having another reliable B&M that also has a high capacity capabilites, and offers the best Return on Investment (ROI) over the next 20 years. Since the park is landlocked, and additions are going to be few and far in between, the addition of a Giga will be able to promote and carry the park for over 20 years and beyond. As you'll most certainly not find anything like a Giga at neighboring Disneyland or Universal Studios Hollywood, 3rd day guest and international travelers to Disneyland and Universal will be looking for something close to do during their vacation, that's 20 million potential guest per year that you can continue to syphon off Disneyland, as they'll want to experience that HUGE ride that they saw from the brochure and from passing by while on the freeway en route to Disneyland. Locals of LA and Orange County will continue to choose to go to Knotts as it's closer than Magic Mtn. Magic Mtn can continue to have its amazing lineup of coasters, the most in the world, but that doesn't mean that knott's shouldn't get one more unique offering that would EASILY round off and complete what that property needs and can do. Its the #1 attended park in the Six Flags and Cedar Fair, and closest to Disneyland and Universal, it has the most potential, treat it as such.

Knott's is no longer in the giga conversation. Magic Mountain is. With the merger, Knott's will focus all on families and Magic Mountain will be the coaster park. Knott's has 4 solid coasters for the "teen that outgrew Disney dragged along on the family trip". Their core audiance is from live entertainment. Magic Mountain's core audiance is from coasters.

Six Flags Great America would benefit from one but sadly I don’t ever see them approving anything over 225ft. Whatever they build next it NEEDS to offer a decent run time and capacity. Maxx Force is cool but way too short, same with Goliath.

Knotts would be too expensive to build when the option of Magic Mountain is there. Its also less of a gable with the guests. Knotts is so heavily family focused it makes it a big risk to not get as much return on investment. A family focused multi launch coaster seems like a safer investment route for Knott's.
@tahjo7
@tahjo7 13 часов назад
"Knott's is too family focused" what do you define as family? I define it as a ride that is for adults, & kids transitioning from kiddie/Jr coasters to the 54" - 4 feet 6 inches height requirement rides, usually reached at the mid point in a kids childhood. I have 2 kids, as a family that has been annual pass holders at Knotts for 4 years, I can tell you my 8 year old has Rhode everything at Knotts (xcelerator 82 mph, supreme scream scream 310ft tall, Hangtime & Silver Bullet multiple inversions.... Me and my boys are now bored, but love the park! The coasters I mentioned above surely doesn't limit knott's identity as (what I assume you meant) a park for small children 7 and under. Disneyland is for familes and has a 55 mph LSM launch coaster (incredicoaster) with a loop, and a multiple time drop tower ride (guardians of the Galaxy). Guardians, the drop tower, has a 40" height limit...and it's for families, my 8 year old hates that ride but LOVES Silver Bullet (B&M inverted coaster). Incredicoaster has a height limit of 48" They're 8 & 11. Having taken a ride on inversion heavy, free fall, launch coasters, all at 8 years old, I ensure you that a Giga is also a "family" ride and totally appropriate for 8 year olds and up. Just youtube all the family's taking their sons and daughters on Fury 325 and their joy level is undeniable. Gigas don't have loops or inversions, doesn't launch, and doesn't "drop" it crawls over and builds up speed on its "drop" so no stomach drop feeling. A Giga is most definitely a family ride, as its been voted best steel coaster over 20x over the past 20 years since Millennium Force in 2000. Respectfully, the data shows a Giga is a family ride. And Knott's isn't heavily focused on one specific group of riders, it has something for everyone, and a Giga just completes it's offerings as well as satisfies the parks desperate need for a reliable, high capacity, GP friendly, family friendly, re-rideable, unique offering. I often hear folks assume knott's can't fit a Giga, or that it's a park that only has family rides, but those ideas are inaccurate. The concept giga Brandon and escape designs made shows that a Giga can EASILY fit,and the General Public (gp) LOVES Gigas, voted best steel coaster almost 20, in the past 25 years. Gigas have been proven as the best weapon a traditional coaster focused theme park can have. That's their unique weapon against all those movie rides at Universal and Disney parks.

I could see a new giga coming to Cedar Point. When it comes to Cedar Point, the one thing I consistently see with guest dissatisfaction is regarding the reliability of their rides. Lines there are another big issue. Sticking a B&M giga back in frontier town to replace Snake River Falls and their sky coaster just makes sense to me. They need that people eater there. Millie is great and all, but out of any other park out there, this one could do two gigas and differentiate them enough that it wouldn't feel like a redundant addition.

I agree with a few of these: Six flags Great Adventure Six Flags Magic Mountain Busch Gardens Tampa Hershey doesn’t seem to want to crack over 300 feet…and with how little space Knotts has, I see a hyper making more sense. Now I could see a Giga at Six Flags Great America, Six Flags Fiesta Texas, and Busch Gardens Williamsburg.
@tahjo7
@tahjo7 15 часов назад
Difference in hyper or giga is just height, Shambala is the best B&M hyper at 250ft (roughly), as you saw with Orion, a few extra feet on the drop would take care of that. A Giga for Knotts to complete the park!

@tdp9192 11 часов назад
Fiesta Texas has height restrictions. They might can pull off a unique hyper like Goliath at SFOG. SFOT could use one especially since it likes to claim firsts and biggest. There used to be a rumor about putting one next to the pond where Judge Roy Scream is
@robertbradford5782
@robertbradford5782 17 часов назад
There is one park no one is talking about adding a giga at that I could see being one of the first in the new Six Flags to get one, Six Flags over Texas. Texas is a market that Cedar Fair desperately wanted to get into and I could see over Texas being the next Carrowinds or Canada's Wonderland. I could see over Texas getting a much needed new front gate with a giga coaster interacting with guests entering the park. My suggestion is replace La Vibora and have the majority of it be by Judge Roy Scream and the lake. Also go for the height record because everything is bigger in Texas.
@wereallyrollin6680
@wereallyrollin6680 16 часов назад
Six flags over Texas isn’t owned by the six flags company or over Georgia they’d have to buy the parks out first because that would raise the cost to buy them out rn they can buy both parks for about 350m each and that’s by 25(sfog) and 28(sfot) if I’m not mistaken if they don’t want to buy them out the others they can sell the parks or find other partnerships

Brandon, I personally think a giga makes more sense for Magic Mountain than Knotts. It's not just that it is the more coaster focused park in general and it's not just the space. For one thing, the terrain at Magic Mountain would be fantastic for a giga where Knotts is just flat. But that's a minor point. The bigger issue is the character of each park and the guest base. Knotts does have some high thrill rides but it's much more geared towards families. And given its small size a giga world absolutely dominate the park regardless of where it was put. It would feel a bit out of place and feel like it was not being built for the right crowd. And while Knotts doesn't care about site lines to the same extent that Disney does, they do care about thematic cohesion more than any other park in the chain. I just can't imagine a giga feeling like anything but an out of place monster that dominates every single area of the park. On the other hand, by building a giga at Magic Mountain they could use the mountain itself and you'd see it everywhere in the park but you'd only see part of it. And it would weave around and over other attractions and a really engaging way. It would be cool to fly over Ninja, Jet Stream and Goldrusher but then thread the needle on the Tatsu pretzel loop and the loop on Full Throttle. And then it could pass over Superman's launch. Instead of sticking out awkwardly it would add energy throughout the park. Plus, who wouldn't want to go down a near vertical 300+ foot drop off the mountain passing next to the Sky Tower? That would be epic.

Gotta disagree on this one. Magic Mtn is literally the coaster capital "of the world" like the old saying, when is enough, enough? Knott's, unfortunately, hasn't had the financial resources to have "enough". When the Knott family owned it, they made progress over the years with a small budget, always trying to compete with other parks, whilst maintaining their unique identity, which will never go away. Still, they remained competitive and determined. Take Ghostrider for example, that was Marion Knott's last expansion/rollercoaster project. She wanted something BIG, that was taller than magic mountains wooden coaster at the time Colossus. The Knott family themselves are business minded folks, and have always had a competitive spirit, when Boomerang was built it had 6 loops, magic Mtn responded with Viper taller, faster, longer, and more loops. Walter Knott opened the OG Log Ride made by Arrow in the 60's, Walt Disney & Ronald Regan Rhode it, again, a thrilling ride that families could enjoy. With Knott's being landlocked, obviously there are challenges, but they aren't impossible to overcome. Yes knott's has been known as a family park, but a Giga is a family coaster (specifically the B&M versions) made for ages 8-10 & up, voted best steel coaster multiple times in America since it's inception in 2000 by The Golden Ticket Awards. Millennium Force 7x & Fury 325 - 7x Its high, fast, simple transitions, no loops, brief high g moments that aren't too aggressive and easy on the body, resulting in maximum enjoyment, which leads to a highly re-rideable coaster that people remember forever. That's why Brandon raves about Fury 325, I took a trip to Carowinds last August from SoCal, paid $1,000 for plane tix (last min). I rhode it 35 times (with a fast lane of course), I can't begin to describe how amazing that experience was, it was HAULING that day as well (102 mph). I'll end with this, Ghostrider can be see from over 50% of the park while inside the park, outside when you arrive, and from the freeway. Keep in mind the Knott family wanted this, so to say a large attraction at Knotts would be out of place, although history has shown otherwise under Cedar Fair's management & even when the Knott family owned it, innovation, expansion, thrills has always been a part of the Knotts DNA. A Giga would complete the total package that Knott's offers for the locals of Orange County & 3rd day visitors to Disneyland looking for more to do, that don't want to travel 1hr+ to Magic Mtn. Trust me on this, a ride like this would complete Knotts for decades to come, just as Silver Bullet has carried the park since it arrived nearly 20 years ago on Dec of 2004. Its time for the next step, especially now that there's double the money available at the new Six Flags Entertainment Company (SFEC) 6 billion to use in order to build more thrilling attractions and infrastructure investments. Alternatively, if they didn't build it, then we keep our 90's era, low capacity, highly unreliable, horribly operated lineup, don't add anything of significance, and keep it the same. Although from a business perspective they now do 6 million+ per year in attendance (source Aug '23 earnings call), as one of those Annual Passholders, I can honestly tell you, me and my growing kids got bored after 4 years, so we didn't renew. Investment, expansion, growth is what keeps a business afloat, and I just don't see SFEC letting their #1 attended property fall behind by not keeping interest levels high and maintaining its attendance & profitability. Magic Mtn is the #1 attended park in six flags portfolio of parks, Knotts was #1 in Cedar Fair's portfolio. Both are family parks, both have kids areas, both have 10+ coasters, one has growth potential, the other doesn't, Knotts next addition will NEED to be something that can last and be an icon for the park for DECADES, a Giga makes sense, as the Return on Investment (ROI) would be too difficult to ignore. Lastly, the fact that Knott's has needed a high capacity, highly re-rideable, low maintenance, highly reliable, GP & Thusie friendly ride in their lineup to compliment their only other B&M that checks all those boxes, the reasons listed above are all irrefutable facts. For 4 years I've studied Knott's and it's business decisions as well as how it operates, how it responds when they have 25-30k people in the park etc A Giga at Knotts would also offer those 20 million Disneyland visitors something that Disney nor Universal could never offer, a unique experience that's family friendly that draws you in, something that is close in proximity, mins away, and if you're at Disneyland you can just take a shuttle over there, if your in LA, you can drive for 20 mins and you're there. Its the closer option. Magic Mtn has many large rides, Knotts doesn't have that impactful international draw of an attraction, this would be the last unless the buy up more space at the Buena Park mall, this giga would buy them some time before an expansion would be unavoidable. Adding a Giga would buy Knott's 10-20 more years before another LARGE investment would be needed, it's the perfect time, it's the perfect ride. Like you mentioned, they just need to make it work, I have full confidence that they can. The project should be called "icing" as in the missing/last piece, or icing on the cake. Sorry for the length.

This park can. I know what u mean, those rides are very family friendly compared to the same models at other parks but compared to other chains. This park is independent and has a pretty decent budget from all the income they make. World wide Chocolate company, park admission, parking admission, food, merch, hosting concerts. List goes on. They can and it’s possible but it’s prob not on their list. I can see them open up a family ride or family thrill ride like cheetah hunt, or F.L.Y around Candymonium. But also part of me believes Hershey should rethink about the water park. I think they should move it to another location to help the theme park. The water park can be around Hershey park or better yet. Near one of the resorts so it can be its own thing.
