I don’t fucking get it teams that are going after a Super Bowl don’t trade their best pass rusher I don’t care who you brought in. You had him under contract and the Jets didn’t even give him an extension, so why couldn’t he be here for one year? Bad move.

Initial reporting is they did give him a new contract. The Cheifs traded Hill then won the superbowl. They got value out of him through and through and unless you want Nolan sitting another year someone had to go.

The worst thing about this is, if they just kept him for this year and lose him in free agency they likely gain a 3rd round comp pick in 2026 anyway. Pain. Oh well. Time to look forward.

Maybe I'm biased as a SJ person who lives near where he went to HS, but I preferred Reddick to Sweat, even if you had to pay him more. I personally think he's a cornerstone piece on a defense and I think he'll play well at least to 35 years old.

Moreover, Hassan is one of the worst run defenders in the league, not true of Jones or Garrett. You really want to pay a near 30 year old, poor run defender pass rusher 25 mil a year? Got to believe there was something we are not aware of that caused the Eagles to part with their top defensive player. Must be something more significant than a couple million dollar difference in salary because Howie usually finds a way to sign top players. I mean how come he has been on so many different teams already? Could he be a locker room cancer or some other issue with him because this trade just doesn't add up. SMFH

A potential second-rounder for Reddick, who will soon be on the wrong side of 30 and is about to enter the final year of his contract?! Howie nailed another one! Reddick's numbers were down across the board last season, and he's about to turn 30, which means he'll almost certainly will get worse before he gets better. Huff is younger, cheaper, better. And the draft pick gives them a chance to add another young player with upside. #FlyIgglesFly

People have to realize and remember, when we had 70+ sacks it was because we were getting production from 7-8 guys total. Last year there was no threat beyond Sweat and Reddick consistently. Milton needs more snaps, JD needs to step up and help out these edge guys. Hargrave had 12 sacks from the middle, that's huge. Middle must step up and I think Howie has to draft a DE with one of those 2 second round picks.

Haason seems at his best when he rushes the passer but when you can't cover getting sacks is tougher so the Eagles probably wouldn't get the best out of him, he wasn't drafted here and this was a good spot to take a shot while he could be moved, I hate the business but this is how it's played 🤷‍♂️🦅

The jets use a strict rotation with their D line, outside of Quinnen Williams, nobody got anywhere near 70% of the defensive snaps, Huff is proof of that, I think he got 40% of the snaps. I’d be astounded if the conditions are met. Truly astounded. That rotation is why Huff wanted to leave. He was very vocal about his usage. I just checked, even Williams had only a 68.5 % rate, no one on the jets even reached 70% so I doubt you’ll get that 2nd.

I’m never gonna complain about a trade the makes us younger unless that player is a generational talent. If anything this makes me think they rate Smith highly and expect big things. In a couple of years I think moving on before it’s too late will be looked upon favourably.

Why would a future pick be devalued? It's still a 2 or 3. Burns went for a 2 and 2 5th round picks and he is 3 years younger. It's a good deal. Actually it's better to get a 2026 pick because Roger's will be older and they won't be coming off a last place schedule.

Obviously everyone wouldve liked a better return but seriously if youre in Howies position to manage this team for current and future success (which is an overlooked luxury) you have to understand that paying a 30yr old 25M per yr is such a high and unnecessary risk. Even if Reddick gets 15 sacks next year we will be happy that we arent paying a small (240lb) LB thats aging. He absolutely got shut down in the superbowl and the whole end of year last year. I loved reddick but this is a good move. Not to mention - this dude couldve held out..... then what. get even less of a return on trade plus locker room disruptions. Pay Devonte Smith man - this is the goal

Jets fan here to check in w basically the Huff/Haason swap. U all are gonna love Huff we’ve been begging for him to get more snaps for us. His get off is ridiculous. I don’t see Reddick playing above 2/3s of the snaps, we rotate our Ends probably more than anyone in the league. And we drafted McDonald in the 1st last year. Hence why Huff never played too many snaps. Think it’s a fair swap, both teams are win now, but if the Jets don’t make the playoffs next year we likely will clean house

Eagles are counting on a committee of Edge Rushers to produce Sacks, improve the Run Defense and be versatile in Pass Coverage - Huff,N Smith, Baum,Okwara and Draft Pick to go along with Sweat and BG so they should be ok

If they could have paid him what he wanted for a single year to stay, I agree it was a bad move. Just speculation, he doesn't just want a raise. He wants a raise and an extension. If the Jets are putting him on another three year deal at the top of the market, that's not a good deal. My guess would he makes us look dumb for one year and smart for two.

Yeah, I'm kind of surprised how people are reacting. The narrative, even from this podcast, was that you can't pay a 30 year old edge rusher the $25 mil he was asking for, so you trade him before he sits out or is disgruntled. I get the compensation was low, but it was the best (only?) offer on the table.

reddick was not good at stopping the run. you don't give an edge rusher $25 million/yr for pash rush only. the 49ers ran right at him as did others. that is the reason why no one will give him that kind of money. not a complete player.

All emotions aside if I had to bet who has more sacks & pressures over the next 3 years I would bet $100 on Huff. Rushers in their 30 meh. The elephant in the room is the reason why Howie was so desperate to move Reddick no matter the cost. Once Reddick spoke up against the "people upstairs getting involved" in the disastrous DC demotion (which was legitimately one of the worst unforced errors I've ever seen as an Eagles fan), the writing was on the wall. Howie and Jeff have many skills but are also excessively prideful and bristle at all public criticism.

They can't accept being wrong at times. Reagor and JJAW. Dean is probably another player they will refuse to give up on. They've been wrong a lot but also lucky to find a TJ Edwards and a Jordan Mailata late in the draft or after it. Chiefs win because they are 100% honest with themselves plus they have the true franchise QB of the league. Eagles would go far if the front office was more accepting of being wrong.

he had 2.5 sacks in the last 7 games and we were 1-6. It sure looks like he quit. We didn't get great compensation - but it's also not bad. I'm happy to move on
