This comment section is crazy 😭. Race cars have everything separate because it saves on weight, allows things to be turned off individually if something is going wrong, and makes the electronics less complex. No one cares if your economy cars do it with a punch button start.
@@outrun7455 wiring harnesses on regular cars can be almost 70 pounds. Race car harnesses are usually a fraction of that. Also all those parts and more are still wired up in regular cars too.
@@maxsherman1685 I’m not saying to put a regular wiring harness on the car, simply to wire all of those to one start switch, less things to break, lighter, simpler, less things to accidentally bump off.
And if something breaks? Whole system might get checked, for race cars having individual switches don’t require a computer to turn them on all at once, you have full control of your car and it saves weight
For everyone wondering why u have to turn everything on manually it’s so that the car can work as it should. The car isn’t designed to just be tuned on and driven there’s a lot that goes into it and it gives the racing driver more control over the nearly ton car their driving at over 130mph.
rewire your main electrics or return from fuse box to 7 switches in series. all 7 switches need to be on in order for current to flow. so even though they don t do shit, they look cool

Never diminish the power of buttons. I had a 1984 Subaru GL wagon in HS. It had a digital speedo. I used to tell people I retrofited it with a Maserati Bi-Turbo. I would press a bunch of button on the dash and then switch it from Mph to Kph as i punched it and people believed it was actually going from 30 to 50 immediately. In reality, I clocked 0-60 at 26 seconds.
run the starter with the throttle open and ignition off, prime the oil pressure to 1.5 before driving it. I work at Dream Racing in Vegas and we have a couple of these.
And your car would get absolutely destroyed on a race track by this car. Also, when your car breaks, you have to get it towed to a dealership so a technician can go through all the systems to see what failed. On a race track the team has the techs and they can shut each system off separately to determine which system failed and they can replace it since they are all separate from each other and get it back on the track quickly to get points.

@joshroi8610 the trick to a stable faster speed for a fiero... 40 pounds of sand in the front hatch onto ofvtge spare tire.. 2 20 pounds on the sides..so far my 4cyl goes 110 mph. My v6 126mph.. the whales tail spoilers are a help

Not really, considering it’s a race car designed to compete at the highest levels. I drive WRC… someone crashes a car every event… there’s 8-10 events per season… and I’m not talking baby crashes. Flying off the road T boning a tree at 110mph crashes. The mechanics almost always have the car fixed well enough to drive within 30 minutes to an hour before the next stage. And fix the remaining frame damage to make the car perfect again by the next event after that event is over. Literally quarter million to half million dollar cars we total out every event and have 50-100k in work done overnight to be ready to do it all over again.

And btw, police often block down entire cities for these vehicles to do so, for example, EVERY SINGLE GYMKHANA EVER PRODUCED, also F1 drivers are constantly allowed to drive F1 cars on the roads, race cars are literally escorted on public roads ever day somewhere in the world 🤡
