This is my first time watching a video of yours. I found your review to be very balanced and thoroughly presented. Thank you very much for this. I found the reviews on this are either "wow amazing", or "dismissal and horrible". I'm by no means an expert but I sampled this and i really enjoyed it. While I enjoy creations like gold, epic, Interlude and overture (all woman versions) I occasionally like an easy wear enveloping fragrance without too much going on because I'm not in the mood to be challenged that day. I felt the quality was still there. Again thank you for being thoughtful with this review.
Happy to see you stumble upon my channel. I always try to balance things at best I can, as a proper reviewer you do need to see the good and bad of each fragrance and with experience it may tip the scale one way or another. Happy that you enjoyed!
@@robes08 Yeah, I hear the people comparing this to Tobacco Vanille & similar scents & I completely understand that, but this is an upgrade for me personally.
Awesome video, like always ! I had the chance to review this exactly when it was launched, I like what Karine Vinchon Spehner is creating. Overture is fire !
Great insight! I feel that Floris Vert Fougere would be something that Amouage would have realeased back in the Chong era and something that you'll enjoy. Cheers!
First ever Amouage I bought was interlude black iris and blind buy. I was like what did I buy. I now like it very much. I got Royal tobacco and overture man.
Okay, quick disclaimer. I am an unabashed Amouage fanboy. Like you, I am a successful habitual blind buyer (I’d blind buy just about ANYTHING from my favorite House. That being said, I understand and appreciate you comments about the difference between the Christopher Ching era versus Renaud Salmon (sp?) . I really understand BUT I encourage folks to be patient with the transition. Renaud is releasing straight bangers! So, I really appreciate your contextualization of Boundless as a “crossover “. Well said! I really like Boundless. Is it my favorite? Nope! But I really enjoy it in certain moments. Gotta tell you tho, I LOVE Jubilation 42 (?), King Blue, and Tobacco Royale (?) and Purpose to name a few.
Appreciate your thoughts on the brand, I think now we are past the patience part as it's been years since the transition and Renaud has had plenty of releases under this name. It's time to take a long look at the Salmon era.
From the old Amouage womens line the bests are: - Memoir - Lyric - Interlude - Ubar Definitely recommend you to try them and hope to see your reviews on them in the future.
Definitely a good Amouage crossover. I enjoy it and can definitely get more wear out of it than something like Interlude Andy of them. I’m a fan of the old and the new to be honest.
Great as always my friend! Have many of the old Amouage’s that are awesome. Got samples of this and material and did not like them at all. Best wishes from Mexico.
I find there's an interesting mix of safe & daring scents. Silver Oud, Royal Tobacco & King Blue (silly name) are very daring. The rest are kinda easy to wear, but they all retain that Amouage uniqueness & are of extreme high quality. Sure, I miss Chong, but I'm also really happy with Salmon. We must accept & embrace the change.
@@robes08 That's my favourite. I have a feeling that you'd appreciate King Blue too. It's a great composition but a bit too skanky for me & the exact opposite of versatile. Sample first on these two though as the prices are outrageous.
I'm a long time fan of the brand and after neglecting the women's line for far too long, I've come to realize Epic, Interlude, Lyric, and Overture are my top choices from the female collection. Formulations seem steady over the past 5 years or so with the exception of Lyric. You'll want to source a vintage bottle for that one.
Vanilla Absolute can come across waxy. Do you think that’s why it smelled that way to you? I just love how you dissect and describe fragrances. You always keep me coming back for more. Give Amouage Material a sniff, Unisex, I think it’s one you’d like.
Most likely Julie, I don't think I've smelt it this waxy but you could be right. Material will be the first as I got a sample of it with Boundless so we will see what that one offers. Thanks again for stopping by!
Haven't tried it and I'm not really interested, and after watching your video I don't think I'll even try it, I prefer the stronger ones. Thanks for the Samplin' Marc!!!
All i can say is it's not the best Amouage but I damn sure appreciate it thanks for your take Uncle Marc In terms of the womens line a few that stood out to me are Epic Interlude Myths Beach Hut
You are to kind Marc! 6 out of 10 is generous enough 😂😂😂 We still need to do a livestream together one day when we are both bored with nothing but time 💪
6! lol I guess the ram didn't like the drydown would be my guess. May have to take a look and I'm sure you have a vid on this one. As for livestream, may be best to plan something, I don't think we would even do one without a plan lol. You can always email me and we can get the ball rollin'.
if youre craving the old amouage but youve smelled all the man versions, checking out the womens line could be everything you wanted again. some are very feminine, but many are unisex and some even kinda masculine.
Hey Guru, hope everything's well! Had another question, what's the closest thing you've smelled to the original Le Male formulation that you love that's currently in production?
I finally found someone that’s selling Kilian Incense Oud. It would be $330 shipped. What do you think? Fair price? It’s so damn hard to find and I’ve seen 100ml refills going for $1,000 . Ridiculous
oooh I'm not going to be the person that gives you value to a scent, that's up to you. I always value scents on many aspects, especially hard to find ones. Value needs to be built by only you. Since you are asking , I do own that scent and would I pay 300 or more on it... not at all.
@@robes08 believe me, this one is completely different from the others. it's like Terroni with less earthiness and a strong natural pepper note. Screams status and assertiveness
The womens line of Amouage sounds interesting. I tend to stay away from scents made for women since they are often boring to me but maybe Amouage got some nice ones that doesnt smell generic flower boring girly. Even tho im a feminine woman I dont want to smell like a girl, I want deeper, dark and more interesting scents. Thats why I dont watch female fragrance youtubers, it's just not for me. Im very much looking forward to your take on the womens line
Excellent overview as always. Honestly haven't sniffed much from the brand recently for similar reasons. But eras do have a tendency to come and go, so why not adapt to the times eh. With profound gratitude for the past. 📉
