Hi, weirdly enough I had someone shout at me a week ago while cycling on that shared path. So even though there are so many signs, some people just don't notice. I use that path regularly and you are right that there are never that many people walking on it - most prefer to go into the green space to it's side.
Good point about road budgets being able to easily cover budgets of interventions that money ringfenced for active travel never could. Building a bridge or an underpass to keep pedestrians and cyclists out of the way of the cars seems like it's easier to justify when it's about keeping the cars moving, and not about improving the experience for people on foot or bike.
Pleased to report Waltham Forest are consulting on big improvements along Whipps Cross Road to create a separate cycle and footpath along the north side of the road, where the existing shared path exists.
Nice to see you back in this area. You were lucky there was no car outside the door shop on Lea Bridge Road. They block the cycle lane a lot and no one cares.
Great video. You must have recorded this a few months ago with your other Wanstead video. Pleased to report the grass has been cleared from the cycles path alongside the A12. Just waiting for them to repaint the bicycle symbols in the Green Man now which are barely visible.
Do you plan to do the new Cycleway 42 and maybe combine it with 43 too? Barking and Iford, I know there shitholes but you won't be stopping and will never have to return. 😆
I’ve actually done the route they used for the cycleway before they made it a cycleway… I think they’ve improved it a little but mostly tidying it up. I should probably pay a visit! Last I checked they hadn’t put a contraflow in by the station which I was waiting for
That's a pretty nice route. No bits where you are close to falling into a canal and drowning. It's a shame that they have a smaller shared path in the middle bit, when you have a big road on one side and empty green land on the other side, and it would be relatively easy to increase the width of the land used for bikes and pedestrians.
