The Kern River Parkway bike path might be my most favorite thing about Bakersfield as a whole - it definitely cemented me as a cyclist! You should see it now after all the rain we've had, it's almost as if there's lakes around every part of the trail, plants and flower for days and the Kern River roars all the way through!

If Tehachapi ever connects all those short paths they will have a real gem. The area is a very underappreciated respite from the arid lands around it. I'm still planning to get to the new section of the Kern River Parkway, but when I was traveling back the week of Labor Day it was just to hot. BTW I thought the Monterey Coastal Trail was top notch (plus it was much cooler during that hot Labor Day week).

The best biking is the one done on the road. There are tons of areas like right outside of Taft, Tehachapi, and Frazier park that are low traffic and great for biking

I’ve got to agree with you there. The beauty of smaller, remote communities make it easier to safely get around on the road. Unlike compared to LA.

Nice video but you forgot to warn people about the out of control homeless population that inhabits the kern river bed. Really sad.

The Santa Ana river bikeway was a nightmare a few years back with the largest homeless encampment I’ve ever seen outside of Angel stadium. but has drastically improved since. I hope for the same in Bakersfield
