I snorkel in Sapi about 9 years ago and was very impressed with the cleanliness of the water, amount of coral reefs and marine animals. The only thing is i wish investors can invest in Sapi perhaps build a resort, make the island more lively. It will make a huge difference and will attract more tourists. Strict rules should be put in place in managing the reefs once tourist numbers has increased.
Thanks so much for sharing! The water in Sapi was pretty clean to me but I'd imagine it to be so much cleaner and beautiful 9 years ago 😭 Except for Manukan Island, the other two islands (Mamutik & Sapi) definitely didn't seem to be maintained 🥲 A resort in Sapi would be amazinggg
Good, honest reviews. It's good that you spoke about the sandflies. Also, we didn't see any monkeys on Sapi. They do have lockers for rent. 10 myr for the locker. Thanks for the honesty.👍
Hi! I appreciate your positive feedback!! Yes, the sandflies made me wanna leave the island immediately lol We saw monkeys on Sapi.. If we didn't guard our things, they would've definitely taken them 😅 We didn't know there were lockers on Sapi though! Would've definitely used them if we knew!
Hi! I remember it took around 4 hours to do the entire island hopping tour for all 3 islands :) There were definitely monitor lizards at the islands but not too many to be bothered. And they won’t bother you unless you bother them. I was more annoyed by the monkeys on Sapi island cuz they’re known to steal things 😅😅
Hi Tee! We had the option to snorkel in all 3 islands but chose to snorkel in Manukan and Sapi island since the water quality in Mamutik wasn’t too great and had too many sandflies there. Sapi had the cleanest water in my opinion! :)
The only other place I’ve been to in Sabah is Sipadan Kapalai Dive Resort which is on the other side of Sabah. Don’t think it’s an island though! Agree, we have been there and it's q beatiful island. It's nice that there is not much too do. Just swin/snorkle/dive whatever and have a nice bbq at the beach. it's perfect! The sandflies did not really bother us too much. just come prepared.
