@@nobody8739Jon has everything over Alex, but there's no doubting Alex's striking is on another level. Probably the best to ever do it in the UFC along with Silva, and Adesanya. Doubt he would have a chance against JJ's wrestling, and grappling though.
@hayden5880 you countered your own argument. Jon Jones doesn't have "everything" over him. Alwx' stand up is leagues above Jones. That's said, the difference in wrestling is a much, much bigger canyon apart. Haha

@@Larkos212to prove the point that most people underestimate a weight class move up so he was saying that people wouldn’t think alex would be as competitive at heavyweight
Alex should move up to heavyweight. He could be the first ever 3 division champion. At this point he might as well go for it because he isnt getting any younger.
It's not fair and doesn't make sense to get to skip the line over guys in every division and get to fight for the belt straight away off one win in a lower division. Alex needs to defend the belt a couple times before he moves up.... and I'm sure he can and will move up to heavyweight after.
@JordanAlbert-fu9jz He's 36 years old about to be 37 soon. He isn't the youngest guy on the roster. This is when a lot of guys start leaving their prime. It's fair that he skips the line because he earned it. He earned it by beating 1 of the best middleweight to ever live to get the belt and winning the belt a weight class up. He most certainly has earned it. He only lost 1 time in his ufc run. I would agree with defending the belt a few times before moving up in weight. However, he already has 2 titles to his name. He wants to make history. He deserves this.
for me 1/2 title defenses would be perfect. That way his status as a dominant lhw champion would be secure. After that he should take his time to gain weight because he simply looks too small for heavyweight rn. That way he can give his best shot at heavyweight and still be known as a dominant champ with solid title defenses even if he looses. If he fights at HW once and instantly gets a title shot and looses by an early finish he would loose so much respect
@lakaka5169 But he's getting older and this is his chance to make history and be the first ever 3x championship holder. I don't think that's a good move for him. He looks really big even at 205 so he doesn't really need to take time to put weight on like that.
@bane3991 On a business standpoint, I see where you're coming from.... And that's most likely what's gonna happen. Their is more intriguing fights a heavy weight than LHW. I just wish he'd fight a couple more at light heavy weight. But then again, Pierera and Aspinall. Is a dream match up that would be ruined if he got beat by a lay and pray wrestler at LHW.
@@13lack13irdthat left hand makes it possible (low chance probably going to be as easy as Gane), If i was jones I wouldn’t risk getting starched by that too. Too much to lose
Yeah either force jones to fight Aspinall, or have him vacate the belt and have Aspinall face the next in line (Maybe Pereira gets to skip the line) for the undisputed belt. We all know it’s not happening though.
Dana is delusional as fuck! The heavyweight division is the weakest division atm! The interim champ can’t fight fight the actual champ because jones wants Francis and stipe where one is in the PFL and the other is about to retire! Poor Tom is going to waste time waiting for Jonny bones jones to be fight him. I would love Alex to come into the division and breath some life into it
Dana made the mistake of letting Ngannou leave, and now he is making the mistake of not making the move of Pereira fighting at HW against Aspinall. These were the type of fights the UFC started with in the beginning.
Def not a mistake… Its a money decision and I get it. I’d rather see Alex defend his belt 4-6 times before he makes another move through divisions. More strictly divisional champions, the more PPV card toppers… After all he claimed vacant belt against someone who wasn’t champ, had just two 2 LHW defences while he was a one time MW belt holder. I don’t agree with postponing the LHW just for the sake of a historic opportunity, an opportunity I don’t think he’s earned yet. Everyone wants to see it but it doesn’t make sense for his career, the company or for any of two heavyweight champions to take a side quest when they’re rightfully supposed to be fighting eachother. But hey Aspinall periera is the easy and best option, interim doesn’t mean as much when there’s still a championship bout signed and ready to go for later in the year.
The list doesn't need to be long if he can't beat any of the top 3 contenders plus champ. In a division where everyone has power and everyone naturally fight at 60lbs heavier than Alex has ever fought
Force Jones out, he’s had a great career but his ego and stupidity has tainted every division he’s been on by holding it hostage. Has never consistently been an active fighter and talent alone has made him goat!
@vanhattfield8292 yes he was. He was pointing out how people were worried max would get messed up as many people have when moving up, max included when he first tried. It's a shit example considering max just won haha
It means he is not risking Jones’ Career for it. If Jones gets laid out (low chance but with Poatan’s left, it’s never out of the table), his reputation will be down in the gutter, since he has A LOT of controversies already gnawing at his legacy. (Roids, Wife Beating, Oblique Kicks, Eye Pokes and being inactive for all those JJ fans in denial)
He didn’t say he wanted to go to HW definitely, he even said he was happy in LHW, he only expressed the desire to fight in Brazil. As a title fight is complicated to promote in three weeks, he said he could climb a category for the opportunity.
Having champs constantly hopping weight classes lowers the stakes for everyone else, because either the contenders have to wait forever to get a title shot, or there's a risk that a title fight features one fighter coming off a loss (like Volk v Tapuria). These situations are bad business for the UFC.
How the hell can that guy tell Alex that he shouldn't move up the heavyweight double champ quicker than anyone. He just don't want him to have a third f****** belt
Personally, Pereira needs to work on his ground game a lot more! Having a heavyweight on top of you would be crushing! Pereira is a beast in the ring, but heavyweight is a whole new game
I would like alex to move up if heavyweight wasnt such a log jammed circus rn. Alex vs Magamed and hopefully after that, heavyweight isnt in such a bad state
Still weird comparison. Max was not known as a hard hitter at FW and got clobbered by Poirier. So natural to assume Gaetje would do the same or worse. Pereira hits harder than the whole ufc roster. He’s about Stipe height/weight. It’s not a crazy move up by any stretch. Only 2 guys that could give him issues are JJ or Aspinal imo. Rest of them get shadow realm’d.
Pereira and Gane would be an interesting fight. If Gane was champ it would make a potential title fight fantastic. However, I don’t see how Perfeira ever faces Jones, and after seeing the Volkov fight I have to wonder about his chances with Aspinal as well.
There should be Ankalaev match. Everyone acts like Pereira is cleared LHW. There must be at least 3 belt defenses to move up to this other damn weight class.
it doesn’t make any financial sense to let a champion hop between divisions… when will we see the LHW defended next? if he fights out of his division, it’s definitely for the interim belt then the undisputed… anything else would be pointless. Unless he were to genuinely wait for a solid heavyweight champ to face. And that’s the real money making decision
The last time a world-class kickboxer went against Jones, he ended up tapping with his back pressed to the cage. You fuckin idiots say this every time with Jon Jones and it never pans out.
He’s probably saying that because Alex will actually fight more than once every 3 years. Heavy weight got held up for 3 years by stipe and DC and now its being held up indefinitely by Jones and Stipe. Heck who knows if or when they will fight, and then who’s to say when or if whoever wins will defend their belt. Aspinall is gonna be 40 years old and retired by the time Stipe and jones finally fight.
Alex wins by 1 punch knockouts there a 0% chance he does that in heavyweight he’s screwed if he goes to heavyweight I haven’t seen anything special from Alex other than him getting one punch knockouts and that’s because he’s going in the octagon weighing 200 plus fighting light heavyweights
@@silverwolf6194 now while jon is alive but i must if pereira gets the tripple gold he will have more prestige than jones which i believe would diminish jones retirement. I hope pererreira becomes the last monster jones has to face before finally going to retirement
Dana is careful with his words here. Specifically asked about 301 and heavyweight, but he only focuses on the latter. I have a strong feeling Pereira will be fighting Jiri at 301
I think alex could beat Jones and spinal. I've been watching this sport for 30 years, and it's mma. You never know what's going to happen. Max is a perfect example of that. Styles make fights.
