Patara, yesterday I ordered my groceries from Walmart for pick up and I decided to do something different. I looked back at my order history and I ordered the exact same items I ordered in February 2021. This order from February 2021 totaled $329.81, the exact same order from yesterday was $723.94! I knew prices have gone up on everything, but this was a HUGE eye opener for me

We've been doing a clearing out for quite a while now of everything we just don't use or need. We are seniors. So while this is going on DIL left our son with a 4 bedroom house. They have 2 children. He invited us to move in and we'll help each other. Making best from a very sad situation. Not happy time. So we're liquidating and going Walton!

We had a feral momma cat have her babies under my shed back in May. Mom has moved on but the triplets are still here. No mice no snakes, chipmunks or squirrels! Working on fixing the shed up to accommodate them for the winter.

My family on my dads side lived near Murphy in a cabin by Hanging Dog Creek. He lived in a cabin with no running water or electricity with his 10 brothers. He remembered when he was a kid they used to grow wheat up on the hill. They would harvest it, hand thrash it, and then him and his brothers would all carry it on their backs into Murphy to the mill where they would get it ground into flour. The Mill kept half of the flour as payment for grinding it. There is still something in me that when I get to Appalachia, I stop and look around, and I am like "home".

I love driving over the mountain from Tellico Plains through Hanging Dog into Murphy. It's one of our favorite day trips. We always stop at the Hanging Dog general store.

Over a year ago I downsized and let go of my ducks, rabbits and half my chickens because my hubby was put in hospice. I am grateful I did because of the cost of feed nowadays. So my small flock of duel purpose birds and dogs are all I can handle

I had a dream the other night. I told my husband I thought we should get a coupe more piglets because they were so hard to find and getting so expensive. I seemed to think we should be raising piglets again to sell. So when he got up that morning, I told him about the dream and now we are talking piglets on the homestead again. They sure are cute and they sure are smart.

I have a hobby farm and a old farmer asked me the difference between a farm and hobby farm. He said a farmer works on the farm and spends his $ in town, and a hobby farmer works in town all week to pay for his hobby farm.

So my more liberal daughter and I have locked horns on opinions since CV-19 hit. She's seen me prepping for the past few years and "tolerated" it. Out of the blue she suggested maybe we should get quail to raise. I know I've never discovered quail with her before, so she must be picking up on prepper info somewhere else. Which means she's waking up. Glory to God!

Just glance at butter - it was €1.79 for a half pound a few short months ago. It's now €1.89 for 1/4 pound. €3.99 for 1/2. Which is double. Butter is a pretty staple staple. If staples have doubled.. I'm gonna go out on a limb & bet dairy farmers aren't now getting double too....

@@deniseclarke2009 I am - and no longer buy Kerrygold - the only real butter - as it has gone through the absolute roof. I'm talking €4 for the knock-off stuff that used be considered "Cheapo" butter and would get left on the shelf while we reached for the Kerrygold. Them days are now a distant memory. It'll be marge next... Shudders...

You were in my neighborhood, Patara! We also are cleaning up the farm and putting in the fall garden today-tomorrow. When we cleaned up the garden I ended up with carrots I didn’t know were there! Today they were blanched and frozen. There were peppers, sweet potatoes, tomatos and okra still out there to get. I love the chickens. We just added a puppy, a border collie that is just great! Our big dog, an English Shepard, is mature and teaching the pup the ropes. Another great vid with food for thought!

I was born and raised in the same town my ancestors settled in from Moravia. They are all buried in the Catholic Cemetery where they settled and donated land for the Catholic Church. My sister and I have plans to go to Czech Republic to visit the town they came from. This is all on my dad’s side. Love family history.

My ancestors are from Murphy, NC.... and up above where the dam is now. Many have passed but still have aunts, uncles and cousins all over. So cool to here you mention the area. Will be there the first weekend in October in Brasstown for the festival at the Folk School. Have a pottery booth.

My mother and I took several genealogical trips together. I worked on my dad's family, they were from N.J, Pa, etc., but I wing went to N.C. My mother's line was all southerner's N.C, Tenn, Kentucky. I so enjoyed our trips together and learned so much. Nothing like walking through high weeks to find that old cemetary in the middle of a field!! Have a Happy 25th! Thanks so all you do.
