This is awesome! I just ordered my Glowforge and I'm on here doing research and came across your video. I have used a Silhouette for the past 6 years and am very comfortable with Studio. This is the best news! It's going to make my transition between Silhouette and Glowforge (and back) SO much easier! Thank you!!
Thank you so much for this!!!! I was getting discouraged with the glowforge program because I love Silhouette Studio so much!! Thank you for saving the day!
Can you please tell me how to make different layers of the same image. For example if I want to cut, engrave and score difference parts of the same image. Thanks
You are solidifying my need to own a glow forge lol 😂 I keep telling hubby I must have one!! I have SS Bus. Ed. So I’m set there. ❤️ would love to have seen the finished project!
Awww darn, I guess I left it out, silly me. If I can find a way to upload the photo here, I sure will. Yes, your husband should definitely give the thumbs up on this one, he can use it too! ---Becky
Hello Becky, love your videos they are alway so helpful!! I'm really struggling with making my glowforge recognize what parts need to be cut and which need to be engraved. But everytime I upload my svg files that I've converted to svg from Silhouette Business edition my glowforge only recognizing them to cut. and I know I can just change it in the glowforge software but some of my files i'd like to sell and I'd prefer them to be color coded so it is clear to whomever purchases my files what the design was meant to look like without confusion for them.
I upgraded to the business edition and it still doesn't work for me. It says the file is not supported even tho it says it is a SVG file. I have a MacBook so not sure if that is why
It sure is! The design is part of a bundle, but this is just one of the ones available. I'll add the link here for you. Hope this helps! ---Becky designbundles.net/plusstore/975236-merry-christmas
My problem is my glowforge doesn't recognize each layer. For example with the ornament u just made. Some this don't separate so I can't pick and choose which parts I want to cut, engrave, score, ignore. It lumps some all together. How do I get them to know my files can tell which items to separate from others? Ty
Hi there! When you upload your file to the Glowforge App, each color and each image or photo becomes a separate print step. Click on any step on the left side of your workspace. In the option box that pops up, you can then highlight to cut, engrave, score, or ignore based on your project. If you are stuck, send an email in to mail@designbundles.net and we can help - Dawn 😊
Can you tell me how I can size a text. Something that should be so easy i can’t figure out. I want to be able to input the text size manually like 2.50x2.00 height and width simple.
Hey Kathryn! My workspace is actually two kitchen islands I purchased from Amazon, the wire rack in the background is also from Amazon, then the shelves on each side are from Target. All had to be assembled, it was a labor of love LOL. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Hi there! The Glowforge membership isn't required, but does have its perks (like many other memberships. Not having the membership will not prevent you from using alongside Silhouette.
Hey Mona, if you're getting the dashed line, then the software believes you are using designs from the Silhouette Design Store, which isn't allowed to be saved as an SVG. If this isn't the case, I would move your design to a new page or restart your software. Hope this helps! ---Becky
@@DesignBundles Thank you for your quick reply! Bummer! So many files I could use. Wish we could talk them into releasing that. I think it would be worth thier while and I would be willing to pay as well. Thank you!
Great question! Depending on the material, the Glowforge can cut, engrave and score. You don't want to use it to cut vinyl (or any type of PVC product) but you can cut wood, acrylic, hardboard, and a wide range of other materials. Hope this helps! ---Becky
