One shots, but I’m thinking of going to breaks for a bit to change things up for a bit!? I also found a really good channel recently (the Crates hotel) I’d definitely recommend checking it out man! it is the most detailed explanation of the effects and mastering plugins inside the MPCs I’ve ever seen (the guys been an audio engineer for 30 some odd years and is doing a great series on all the plugins and explanations of the MPCs plugins. It’s refreshing hearing things from an engineers Standpoint
One thing I do when chopping my drum breaks is, chop the drums down to a kicc & hihat together and snare & hihat together. Doing this allows me to edit out the start and end point of each hihat following the kicc & snare samples but leaving the remaining reverb hall tail heard. This makes the hall effect remain extended in sound without sounding cut off in length. Also find a hihat open with the longest reverb hall tail heard and chop it down and put a slight fade on the end to prevent any sudden clip sound at the end of the sample. Doing this will make the drum chops sound less choppy.
This sounds interesting now I'm curious but I'm not comprehending the process completely from reading it are there any video examples that you've made or of others doing the same method? I'd like to try..
This is great for beginners For the next step please use envelopes and consider the transients / phase problems that can occur when layering. If you decide one part of the layer will be the snap, the other parr the body etc and shape this with envelopes you will end up in less distortion and more loudness when mastering as opposed to layered lumpy waveforms (although Lifted Noize avoided this by using ducking) Always learning from you bro
Always dope info .. For some reason when I chop my samples I always have to set the end point .. I’m not sure if I have to go back to the settings and do something there but it makes the workflow super drawn out .. I still have fun but the tedious shit kills the effort sometimes .. thanks for the info as always 💪🏾‼️
Why do you need to adjust the end points? I don't think that's a necessary thing at all if you want to skip it. Are you chopping in the sample edit? There is a LINK SLICES button in there. When it is selected the start point of one slice is linked to the end point of the slice before it. So you can just go through and adjust the start points and the end point will be done without any further work.
@@LiftedNoise yes facts .. I think maybe because I push to unlink the slices it does this .. I never really paid it no mind and work around it but when I get home I’m gonna check again … thanks for your advice I always appreciate it 💯
@stilltrippin6100 definitely man, glad I could help! But the question also helps me 'cause I realize this is good info to include in a video to, so thanks for asking it? 🙏 I've also realized lately I've been bothered by the qlink chopping for end points and realized the way I chop its not even necessary or I could just focus on start points for all chops and then qlink over and do the end points for all the chops later. This goes for how i manually chop inside the program edit not sample edit.
@@LiftedNoise oo no doubt ... I have a shit load of questions for you and a few other creators ... but I dsont wanna be annoying at the same time 🤣🤣.. ✌🏾
Notice how the chops don’t flow quite right? Sometimes it takes a little more work to figure the exact bpm. You also might need to discard a bit from the start or end to get it right. Or just extract all the hits and flip it
To get the exact bpm I just use tap tempo I have a great feel for rhythm so it’s almost always on point or damn near close enough you don’t hear it. You guys should try tap tempo
Good question..I bought the mpc live when it was released but this is not the same one I originally bought. I had that for about 3 years. There was no issue I just sold it to buy a ONE. this live I have now I bought used and it's working great! I think the biggest concern for most people is the batteries eventually dying. Do I do try to run the power out before charging and unplug when it's fully charged. Never leaving it in plugged in the wall unless I'm charging. I believe this the recommendation for most lithium batteries.
@@mattfeeney916 i think youre fine sticking with you LIVE original. I had the LIVE 2 for awhile and the speaker is a nice luxury, so is a volume button on top and a couple extra buttons that change flow of creating a bit but now that im back on the LIVE 1 I don't miss any of it. I also dont use CV/GATE and don't plan on it, so Id say everything on the LIVE 2 is just luxury. If I where to buy I might look at used ones but Im happy.
