I wanted to share my black eye peas (serves 6) recipe: 1 1/2 -2 lbs black eye peas 1T minced dry onion 1 clove garlic, minced 1/2 to 1 can chopped tomatoes 1/4 c bacon drippings or bacon pieces Red chili powder to taste After washing and soaking peas, Add all ingredients in saucepan and bring to boil. Reduce heat and simmer 40-45 minutes. Serve with chopped green onions or red onions as garnish.

Happy New Year. What a party, live music and great friends. Beautiful sunrise with all your sleepy friends. Lunch looks wonderful. We usually have smoked neck bones in Texas. I use the neck bones as seasoning, along with diced onions to cook the peas. My resolution is to contact everyone in my address book. As always drive safe and thanks for the ride. Donna

My husband loves black-eyed peas but I don't know how to cook them. But I'm glad you showed me how to cook black-eyed peas, now he will have them. I will be trying your apple crisp dish too. I season them with garlic powder, onion powder and cayenne pepper, add BBQ sauce with syrup and Mexican hotsauce and roast in oven or use crockpot until tender.

Looks yummy Tiffany. Whenever I use bacon for seasoning, I fry it a little bit first (in the same spot) to release the smoke flavor, then add water, the black-eyed peas and seasoning.
