I love how this deck highlights what I have always felt was how White can draw cards in a unique way. Cards like Squadron Hawk that tutor more copies, combined with Whites "pitch a white card" or "reveal white cards from hand", is how mono-white generates card advantage. This design is so much more interesting than just stapling "ETB draw a card" to white creatures.

At 51:55, I think its a weird interaction between Thalia and Sunburst. They didn't actually cast the explosives for 1, they cast it for 0, which Sanctum Prelate allows, but Thalia made it cost 1. A colored mana was spent on the spell, so Sunburst gives it 1 counter.

You've hurt Legion Conquistadors feelings by not including him. Please tell him that you're sorry Seth :(

52:20 the explosives were X=0, so CMC=0 and can be cast through Sanctum Prelate. Thalia made it cost 1 more (not changing the CMC), which does count towards the mana spent to cast it. And since Explosives has sunburst instead of comming with X counters, it sees the (color of) mana spent to pay for Thalia.

This deck is sweet, but it’s so awkward that it has all those human synergy cards when a good chunk of the deck has nothing to do with humans. It’s called squadron hawk tribal, but it’s closer to janky human tribal.

I feel like a Martyr of Sands or two in the sideboard for aggro/burn matchups would be pretty good here since you're going to have a ton of white cards in your hand.

I've got a cheaper, more focused on Oketra's Monument, version of this deck. I've had a lot of fun playing it.

Love this because squadron hawk is my all time favorite card. When my roommate taught me how to play magic 7 years ago, we played kitchen table and i built my first deck from his cards around the hawks after getting so hyped that 1 creature could turn into 4 XD oh how magic has changed

As a Black White Midrange player (In any Format that I can play it in), I kinda worry that most if not all Black White decks are gonna play Grief and Solitude. Or a lot of them will in some capacity. Oh well! I will battle them with my Black White Deck of Many Things! Plus I got new sweet looking Vindicate's to muck around with in Modern now! Alongside Damn! That is a cool card, though my best condolences to you for that blowout Seth!

Oketra's Monument and Sqwak are pretty neat. Taking T3 off to play a do nothing artifact in Modern is tough, tho.

Imo Professor of Symbology is better than the 3 mana 2/2s. You can grab a white lesson to pitch to Virtue or Solitude. I personally splash green for Winding Way which draws SO MANY cards if your deck is 90% creatures. And I run 1x Idyllic Tutor to fetch for Force of Virtue. I love this deck. :)

Put in 4 Mana Tithe for the memes in the earlie game - and pitch it later :D

Voidwalker and RiP will allow the effected player to choose if it gets a void counter or gets exiled with RiP. It works very well for you

I think a good part about this deck is how consistent it is. If your opener is 2+ of the same kind of hawk, then you basically get a free mulligan since it'd be the same as if have 6 cards and 1 copy of hawk. cool :)

One thing you could do in the future when building Aether vial decks, to reduce the odds of drawing two vials is to replace one with a land (running 3 in the deck), the odds of starting with one in hand is slightly lower, but still high enough where you are likely to only draw one, and you are very unlikely to ever see the 2nd one.

decided to throw captions on today and watch a few old episodes without audio.. not sure if its youtube's auto-caption or something the Goldfish editing crew can work with but.... SQUADREN HOG had me in tears! Noticed it made many mistakes in caption translation that makes it really hard to follow without audio👎... the posting of cards as you cover them really does help a viewer re-connect the dots👍

I would almost consider Martyr of Sands in some number somewhere in the 75. Probably in the main 60. What were your thoughts on not including it Seth? At the very least, it's both more white card synergy and it's also a Human to synergize with your small human package.

I think this deck would be better with some better singular threats, and maybe just go for what whites good at which is taxing.

I feel like running 4 emeria's call and not siding 1-2 of them out seems a bit loose since we never get to 8 lands and it's usually just a white card to pitch anyway

Maybe athervial isn’t the card for this deck? It seems counter intuitive but like you found out it’s really awkward drawing more then one, and it also sucks cuz it isn’t a white card. Maybe go down to 3 or run them in the sideboard for the faster decks

I wonder if you wouldn't be better off switching Aether Vial for CoCo. Not sure how much more G you'd really need, but CoCo draws cards, something Vial doesn't do, while also putting things into play. I never loved Vial in mono-W, but this does have a bit of card draw/advantage going on to make Vial feel less bad. I also think things like Archon of Emeria might be better than some of the creatures, you often want to slow the game down in W. CoCo reduces the need to draw, which also frees up more space. Just food for thought!
