🦠😱 Doctor Reacts to RARE Infection Rising in the UK | Lyme Disease Explained
In the spring and summer months, more people spend time outdoors in woods and forests. But in the UK, there is an increasing presence of ticks that can transmit a bacteria called Borrelia burgdorferi which is the cause of Lyme disease.
It has specific symptoms such as a classic bullseye rash, as well as flu like symptoms, joint pain, muscle weakness and more. It needs prompt treatment with antibiotics but prevention is always better.
So wear long sleeve clothes, examine your body and clothes after going in the outdoors, check your pet for ticks, and remove any with tweezers or tick removers.

As someone suffering with Lyme, I cannot stress prevention enough. You DO NOT want this, at all. I got it last July, it's been a year from hell and getting worse. It's slowly been shutting down my body to the point I can barely function, and sleep half the day away most days. Every day is the worst day of my life. Most doctors will hang you out to dry. I've seen 6 doctors, and 5 of them have gaslit me, told me to take ibuprofen and suck it up, or have misdiagnosed me.

I’m fighting Lyme disease right now. Took a month to diagnose, terrible abdominal pain, and back pain wish my doctor would of got blood test earlier. My first sign was fever but no cough or nothing, had Covid test twice, then a week after that I got rash like hives all over my stomach and back. As soon as my doc looked at it he says Lyme disease!!! Blood test positive now heavy antibiotics and pain pills when nessesary!!!!

Lyme sucks! I was born with it since my mom had active Lyme so I had but it was inactivated for years I got bite by a mosquito then it activated 4 MORE TIMES! Trust me you don't want to get it and don't use normal tweezers use a tick spray and a tick removal tool to get the head out too!

Do you know any Lyme literate medical experts in the nhs who understands the 10-15% of patients (usually the more serious cases) with Lyme disease who have negative igg and positive igm and who accept private blood tests and private doctor's confirmed diagnosis (from England)?
@livingwithlyme7672
@livingwithlyme7672 Год назад
There aren’t any in the NHS. I had to have private treatment in Poland for chronic Lyme.
@kirstenlapping4486
@kirstenlapping4486 Год назад
@@livingwithlyme7672 I hope the treatment is working for you. The nhs won't accept my private blood test or the private doctor in England's confirmed diagnosis. The nhs have a very lowunderstanding of Lyme disease, I was hoping to see a LLMD in nhs, sadly not happening.

@@kirstenlapping4486 Agreed - I tested positive in 2021 for IGG *and* IGM in the same test. I made the case that I should be referred for further support given the seriousness of a long term infection (10+ years likely at least). I was referred to a tropical disease 'specialist' at UCLH in 2022, who was utterly useless. Simply said 'oh well lots of people test positive for antibodies, your symptoms won't be Lyme'. ??? I queried that surely this date relates to long-term / past exposure antibodies IgM? She didn't really know how to respond, but refused to test me again for Lyme again as I had two weeks of antibiotics upon testing positive in 2021. The standard of care in the NHS is appalling for Lyme, and it carries with it a seemingly automatic dismissal. I am 31 and have gone from being a bright, sparky, active kid to feeling now like I have a low grade kind of dementia on most days.

PLEASE, do not use ordinary tweezers (plucking eyebrows)! I use tick removals and tick sprays from Botanic Protect as they're safe from 6+ months old babies.

Ticks are in the UK. The nhs has a very poor understanding. I had to get private blood tests and a private doctor. If you are lucky enough to have nhs Dr believe you and get treat early with the right length antibiotics you have a much better chance of not being ill long term. I am hoping the nhs will become more Lyme literate, from personal experience I haven't seen it in nearly 7 years though. If you suspect Lyme ensure you get tested. If you are presenting with signs and symptoms wrote them down amd tell your Dr. If you have photos of the tick show them. If you have the tick show them and send it off for analysis. If you had or have any kind or rash show them. If it is Lyme you will need to receive treatment. Good luck. I hope it isn't Lyme and if it is, I hope you are treat soon. There are plenty of Lyme charities out there with great advice.

@@DoctorAzmain Are you an nhs Dr? Are you a LLMD? If you are, can you let me know why the nhs tests are of a low accuracy often giving false negatives? Why the nhs don't understand, recognise or accept that about 10-15% of patients who do have Lyme disease and have a negative igg and positive igm (where research shows these are usually amongst the most serious cases)? Why do the nhs not accept private blood tests where UKAS have accepted their standards? Why is the nhs dismissing private doctor's (based in England) confirmed diagnosis based on signs, symptoms and blood tests. Why are they allowed to say that could be a false negative, especially by someone who has said they have little knowledge in the area. Yet will accept the nhs test, even when told that were on herbal antibiotics and found out later that can give a false negative. I ask this because I know I am not the only person to go through this. It is completely unfair. If you are an nhs Dr I would love to hear your response and to guide who is actually LLMD in nhs.
