No handbag is worth $10,000+, doesn’t matter if it is handmade, great “quality,” or cared for. I love Hermes but let’s be honest ladies, Birkin is a tote bag…it’s a tote.

@@bettie2803 it’s worth whatever people are willing to pay for it! Cars sure as sugar aren’t worth what they cost. They’re marked up by at least 10 grand.

@@-MaryPoppins- Totally agree. Value is what we place on things. Diamonds are essentially shiny rocks. However, the fashion industry is probably the only industry that has 150+ price differential for things that pretty much have the same functionality. A Porsche has significantly higher functionality (speed) than a Camry and sells for about double the price. Take a GUCCI bag for $3,800. and a similar bag from ZARA for $26, that is about a 150 price differential. That GUCCI bag quality worth may be about 1 or 2 times differential. But GUCCI sells us a perception of prestige, exclusivity, and exceptional quality. Not true. Please understand, I am a luxury lover as well, have several designer bags. However, realistically the prices are all robbery

@@bettie2803 A car is significantly more expensive than a bag so the comparison makes no sense. The base price of a new car is on average $15,000 for a base model, and the labor and materials required are more. It's like saying that homes don't have the same markup as cars do for the same functionality, but that's because the average house is like 300K. There's only so much of a markup you can get there. Also, because you're limited on speed limit, a porsche has no business being pricier than a Camry when the very thing that causes its markup doesn't make much sense on roads. Porsches still have to drive the speed limit. Heck, one can even argue for the fact that a lot of vintage luxury bags still sell in the market. At least that tells us, they depreciate less than cars.

@@rimun5235 Vintage cars can sell for much more than new ones. I’m not sure what you mean about the limits in how much you can “mark-up” the price of a house. As for the limits in speed of a Porsche…the point wasn’t what was legal or what can actually be used. It was simply on what it can do-functionality.

I am pretty sure there is an annual or semi annual event where the overstock is offered in limited quantities to employees and associates. I think there are many stipulations.
