Hi Veronica, at Peridance and other places in NYC they do performance workshops for adults/people of all ages. they are not cheap but sometimes they do scholarships and payment plans. These can be added to your resume as you gain performance experience :)
I danced for 13 years in the past and quit when I was 20. Seeing these videos made me decide to start again! I’m 34 now and I took my first lesson again and it felt like home. Just wanted to share :)
I just want to say you’ve inspired me to chase my dreams to be an adult ballet dancer at 27. I’ve went out and bought a leotard, tights, and ballet slippers and looking to be in more classes, I took an online one today cause that’s all I can afford, but I’m saving up to be more serious, even if I never get to pointe or have a huge role in a production. I did ballet when I was little and had to quit cause it got too expensive for my parents and now that I’m making my own money, I’m following my dreams. Thanks for sharing your journey. I hope to see more from you. God bless you, Veronica 💜
Thank you so much sharing this!! I can’t tell you how thrilled I am for you. I completely understand your story and am so excited that you’re taking action ❤️ have the happiest new year!!
YAS girl! Congratulations! I love this for you! You did great! I'm so proud of you!!!! Costumes were so cute! One of my colleagues recently asked me about singing with a particular group and they asked: "Does it pay?" and I answered; "Well, no, only if you get a solo" and they asked; "Then why do you sing there?" BECAUSE IT'S FUN AND I WANT TO SING WITH MY FRIENDS LOL. Art for fun is the best kind of art ❤ Happy New Year!
Couldn’t agree more! There are so many reasons to follow your heart other than just a paycheck! Keep doing you friend🥰 thanks for all your encouragement
"It's perfectly okay to do things for the sheer enjoyment of it" yeeeeesssss! The thing with ballet is there's this strange culture of you do it from birth solely for the purpose of going pro. So when someone wants to do it for fun people are like 👁👄👁 There's absolutely nothing to be shamed or demeaned about being in the party scene. It's an opportunity to perform and be a part of a cast, which are vital skills for a dancer imo! Leave that shame in 2023!
oh my gosh, im a current dancer, and i am obsessed with your vlogs and stuff! you are doing amazing, keep following your dreams (ps, congrats on your first show!)
Congratulations on your first Nutcracker and I hope you get to do many more Nutcrackers. At the ballet studio I dance at they offer an adult ballet class once a week but there are 4 adults myself included that are actually enrolled at the studio. With me previously being a ballet dancer I was able to start in level 2 and within a year I was moved up to level 3. We have end of the year exams in May and hopefully I move up to level 4. I will say that coming back to ballet now as an adult is so much fun because I chose to do it. When I was younger I was put in ballet not by my choice.
Can I kindly suggest something? When you move through port de bras (9:57), check that you are moving through the positions with your arms. If you allonge/elonge too liberally, it looses the shape of the port de bras. I know that different ballet methods have difference preferences, but at 9:58 you want to make sure you are moving through true second instead of flipping the hand up and dropping the elbow. Hope that helps! :)
i LOVE your hair girl! also, so inspired by you. been subscribed for a few months now and it’s refreshing to see real people chasing their dreams and living a life that fills them with joy. the authenticity you give off fuels others. thank you for sharing!!
What a way to end the year! I loved every minute of this video. Congratulations on your first Nutcracker!! You did an outstanding job. I completely agree with you about not having to be a professional ballerina to still love and participate in the world of ballet. You looked so beautiful and ready for party scene as you put on your shoes. I actually was thinking about you earlier as I was folding laundry and doing plies and releves in front of the dryer. I'm happy you shared so much of what you went through for the performance. Wishing you a very happy New Year💝🌟
Haha I’m so honored to be a part of your laundry ballet routine! Thank you so much for all the support and encouragement!! ❤️❤️ have the happiest new year!!
this was the perfect video for new years eve☺ so much inspiration, thank you. So glad your performance went well, you go girl! ✊👑 I also started as an adult at karate (which was fricking hard, but satisfying), now I also started to dance, not ballet but still. Enjoying this sooo much, as you said, its important to just feel fun for all of it. My dream in the future is to try contemporary dance so fingers crossed I don't chiken out by then 😅 as my favourite author always says : I'm rooting for you!❤best wishes for you on you journey and happy new years!
Yay!!!! Congratulations!!!! I’m so happy for you that you were able to be a part of nutcracker! Party scene is fun! I miss being doing the nutcracker and that is such a good point about how it shouldn’t be all or nothing mindset with dance. Thanks for saying that. ❤❤❤
Woah. I wish there was something like this also where I live :( I’m 26 and I already dance (more like hip hop) but I’d love to start ballet as I never had the opportunity as a kid
I bet there are more opportunities than you might think! Look for local theaters or dance studios that put on the production and ask if you can volunteer! They’re often looking for extra help and it’s a great way to get a feel for it! You can also start training for free online with people like Kathryn Morgan on RU-vid! She does some incredible free classes and it’s a perfect way to start getting exposure to the world.
@@VeronicaViccora thank you Veronica! I discovered your account a few weeks ago and now I have almost watched all your videos, your story is truly inspiring 💫💖 I will definitely look around to see what the best options are xx
