Hi! This is an old comment, but I still would like to answer. It's due to the vow of celibacy. The rule is in place so that the pope can concentrate on their beliefs and duties as a pope. Although Peter was the first pope and was married, he was married prior to being called, and Jesus bestowed on Peter the authority of being pope. I hope this helps!

We only pray to the Blessed Virgin Mary and Saints to intercede, and pray to God for us. The words worship and veneration have a difference. Worship is something you adore and express reverence too. Veneration is just holding a great amount of respect. So no, us Catholics do not worship Mary and the Saints, and only reserve the worship to God just like other denominations.
