Just remember guys: this is a car with massaging seats, leather, wood or metal everywhere you touch, all electric adjustments, a TV, a phone, that carries 4 people with absolute comfort built 20 years ago.
@@Thehunter85 no the cl doesn't have airmatic it has the abc suspension wich is with oil while the airmatic is with you guessed it with air And if you maintain the abc system it is pretty solid too
@@Thehunter85 oil change filters and o Rings on the valveunit the get old and start leaking so your vehicle will lower itself after 2 days you have one valve block for your front axle and another one for your rear check the hoses and connectors every service
A really nice car. I always wanted to try the ventillated seats. How does it feals? Can you feel some hard or metallic thing? (I mean the ventillator must be made of some strong material to withstand your weight...)
No, you feel nothing but comfort. In summer time you use the cool air to be ventilated, in winter you put the seat heating on plus the vents and warm air will float around your back. :-) Everything in that car is made to comfort the driver. I might remember that each seat is priced at 8.000 EUR. So you should not feel any ventilator at all. Take care.

I have a 2003 CL 55 AMG & while I haven't gotten to 300 km/h, I have taken it to 150 mph, on a track mind you. The car was absolutely stable the entire time. These are great cars as long as you buy one that hasn't been abused and has had proper servicing. GREAT VIDEO!
The whole ride was made with only one hand at the steering wheel. The car is pretty much stable so you can even run with hands off. Breaking was half available breakingpower, rest was done by wind drag
They're great cars, just make sure you get the car inspected from a reputable shop & get the service history. Mine came with a service history back to the first time it left the dealer's lot. Fast, comfortable & reliable, it is a winning combination.
That's proper acceleration, and an epic sound! More impressive given the weight of the car and the loooong gearing. Also, good brakes! For me, one of the last great Mercedes-Benz!
Doesn't affect the acceleration much; the AMG 55 Kompressor series has insanely high torque at low-mid revs. I'm inclined to believe the 7spd would only do so much but add on another few kgs onto the curb weight. The engine is still pulling well into the overdrive 5th, so it still pulls like a freight train at 270km/h+.

No, the 360hp version without kompressor runs only 280 km/h. The pre facelift is pretty much the engine out of the 500 series of mercedes, tuned up by AMG from 306hp to 360hp. The best about the new engine is the sound of the kompressor working with full throttle. :-)
@vindicator2008 you are absolutely right. You couldn´t have enough power. The more the better. But power maximum and race performance is not the intention if you buy a CL from AMG. If you do that you want comfort at it´s max and high cruising speed abilities. Both is combined perfectly in this car. Where else could you enjoy a heated massage at 250km/h or more and simultaniously watch a DVD? :-)
This is exactly why I own only Mercedes Benz autos. My wife has a CLK 550 & I have a CL 55 AMG. The cars are made for adults who want comfort, reliability & power. On American highways my wife and I can sit with either heated or cooled seats and the massage function on while cruising comfortably at 90 mph, all day long, while listening to a Harmon Kardon 6 disc CD player. It's traveling in style for a couple of adults. Plus we can take it to track days and let that 5.4 liter V-8 supercharged AMG engine really eat up the track. I like my wife's CLK 550, but this car has 100 more horsepower & is just flat out powerful & fun to drive because it's just super stable. I've had Porsche, Ferrari and BMW, but this CL 55 AMG simply outclasses them all.
Also der Stadtverbrauch hängt von einer vorausschauenden Fahrweise ab, aber unter 15 L pro 100km ist dieses Auto im Stadtverkehr nicht zu bewegen. Ich fahre im Jahr ca. 15.000km und habe einen Durchschnittsverbrauch von ca. 12l, allerdings mit vielen Autobahnetappen. Unter 10l ist er faktisch nicht zu bewegen, heißt also alle 600km für 120 Euro den 88l Tank füllen. Es geht aber auch nach 300km. Im Jahr brauche ich ca. 2.500,- für Benzin und mind. 2.500,- für Steuer und Werkstatt und Versicherung
Hallo Kevin, beide Motoren sind gleich schnell bei der Beschleunigung mit 4,8s 0-100 Km/h angegeben. Der CL 600 hat allerdings 800Nm und damit 100 Nm mehr Drehmoment. Dafür regelt er bei 250 Km/h ab. Der schwerere 12 Zylindermotor des 600-er macht das Fahrzeug träger als die 8 Zylindermaschine des CL55. Da die Übersetzung des CL600 auf abgeregelte 250 Km/h ausgelegt ist, ist der CL55 folglich schneller beim Thema Endgeschwindigkeit. Der AMG ist sportlicher, der 600-er komfortabler und ruhiger.
@MrDutchTutorial there is only an automatic gearbox available that could handle the torque of 700 Nm. Any manual gearbox would surrender and quit service.
You are right. The ram air effect makes the air warmer due to the friction. If I could have kept the speed for one more minute temperature would have reached maybe 25 degrees.

This was done with the 5,5l supercharged version or the previous one? Either way this is what Merc is all about - S-Klasse packed in epic, two door coupe body. Gratz for great car.
@MrDutchTutorial Maverick is correct. The main difference between an automatic and a manual gearbox is that the automatic doesn't have a clutch. A stock produced clutch from Mercedes wouln't handle the torque, especially 700 Nm. So, if you would have an manual gearbox, the clutch would pretty much look roasted and barbequed, aswell for the syncronization rings too.
The former 7 gearbox was not able to cope with the hight torque of 700NM that smoked it within minutes. The newer ones from AMG come with 7 stage gearbox. The old days :-)
I´m sorry, but you are technically incorrect. True ground speed is 300km/h, but indicated shows 308km/h and this is under 200mph, because the car is electronically limited to true 300km/h. Some car´s are faster, but this video was made with only one hand at the steering wheel, the other one held the camera. There´s no other car that stable at that high speed with more comfort, maybe a Bentley Continental.
@gettodj No, it´s just AMG. They promise you 500.000km fun with your engine if you don´t modify it. There are offers for tunings up to 750hp. But this will make your engine quit service ealier. Let´s be serious, 500hp should be enough.
Unverbastelt ist am besten, außerdem steigt er gut erhalten vielleicht irgendwann an Wert. Und bitte immer schön warm fahren vor dem Gasgeben. Das Kühlwasser ist zwar schon nach 2-3 Minuten auf Temperatur, aber das Öl braucht 15 Minuten. Also immer langsam anfangen, dann verspricht AMG 500.000km Spass mit dem ersten Motor. :-) Gute Fahrt!
@cfmatias 4th gear up to 294Km/h is impressive, but the brakes weren´t used at it´s max because I had only one hand at the steering wheel. The camera was held in the other one. :-) You can run hands off with maximum speed, the car stays stable in the lane.
Ja, das glaub ich. Meine V6-C-Klasse fährt bis 260 km/h hoch, und ich ertappe mich auch immer wieder, dass ich bei 220 oder 230 noch lange mit einer Hand dasitze. Bei 250 hab ich dann aber doch lieber beide Hände am Lenkrad. :-D Apropos: Ich mache morgen ne Probefahrt mit meinem neuen Benz: E 350 CDI (der mit den 620 Nm). Den krieg ich dann im Sommer. Freu mich schon drauf! :-) Schade, dass du nicht noch kurz vorn rausgefilmt hast. Das wär noch interessant gewesen. LG!
LOL, no, it does 140 in SECOND!! and in third, it goes all the way to 225km/h! Incredible machine!! 1 gear till about 90 2 gear hit 140 3 gear reached 225 4gear till 298kmh! in 298, it changed into 5 gear!! It is automatic, so it has only 5 gear.. manual would have 6gear for sure.. Amg mashines are usually 5 gear automatic, for example CL65 is automatic, because huge amount of torgue would destroy 7gear automatic gearbox..
muss n krasses Gefühl sein, wenn man sich darüber bewusst ist, mit 300 km/h da langzufliegen.... ich glaub, da ist man froh, wenn man die 300 im Kasten hat und ausrollen lassen kann :-) .... richtig übel kommt auch der französische Hochgeschwindigkeitszug, der mit über 600 km/h fährt.... das macht einem schon Angst, wenn der angepfiffen kommt
Das Auto fährt mit 300 relativ entspannt, kein Vergleich zu einem nervösen Porsche oder anderen Sportwagen auf der Vorderachse. Der lange Radstand und das hohe Gewicht von 2 Tonnen machens möglich. Ein Problem sind die anderen Verkehrsteilnehmer, die links schleichen, obwohl rechts frei ist, oder einfach rausziehen, weil sie deine Geschwindigkeit total unterschätzen.
@Maverick4906 hallo :) kannst du mir bitte sagen wie viel so einer in der Stadt auf 100km verbraucht? es ist sehr wichtig denn ich überlege mir ob ich so was mir kaufe aber alle freunde sagen dass ich dann nur auf der Tankstelle bin. ich meine so normales und sparsames fahren :)

So you mean the 360hp version would go to 320km/h without a limiter?? or do you mean the 500hp.. i'm asking cos i'm intrested in one of those engines...S55 or CL55 from year 2002/2003 pre facelift and they both have the same engine...280km/s is ok too though but if they would run faster even better ;)

+alexander syguu Wenn du dir Gedanken über den Wagen machst, die Kosten pro Jahr für Steuer, Versicherung und Benzin liegen zwischen 4.000,- und 6.000,-. Da darf dann aber nix kaputt gehen oder verschlissen sein. :-)

Dieses Video war einer der Gründe warum ich mir vor ~1.5 Jahren selbst einen geleistet habe. Momentan wechsle ich die Dämpfer hinten und die Federspeicher/Pulsationsdämpfer des ABC Systems. Hast du Erfahrungen mit ABC Problemen bei deinem Fahrzeug? Hast du auch das leichte Leerlauftickern im Stand? Das ist die Kette der Ölpumpe und scheinbar sind ALLE M113Ks davon betroffen.
Mit dem Fahrwerk hatte ich noch nie Probleme, obwohl ich ihn schon auf der Nürburgring Grand Prix Strecke gescheucht habe inklusive mehrerer Donuts. Auch das Tickern ist mir nicht bekannt. Es ruckelt nur manchmal leicht beim Schalten wenn er kalt ist. Es ist ein 2005-er Modell und der letzte vor dem Modellwechsel, technisch also perfekt ausgereift. Gute Fahrt mit deinem Auto, es gibt kaum ein besseres meiner Meinung nach.
Das gleiche Problem mit dem Leerlauftickern habe ich auch..nur ist keine Werkstatt findig über das Problem geworden und zu den Daimler Werkstätten gehe ich prinzipiell nicht hin. ABC Problem habe ich auch. Nach dem ausschalten des Motors gehen vorne auf beiden Seiten die Stoßdämpfer runter, seit gestern leuchtet die ABS und ESO Warnzeichen und der Motor geht aus ;( Bei mir handelt es sich um einen Cl 500 Bj. 2001
Maverick4906 Das Tickern haben wirklich alle M113 Kompressor Motoren nach Gewisser Laufleistung, bzw Alter. Erstbesitzer schildern das es schon nach ein paar Jahren losging. Die Kette der Ölpumpe schlägt im Motor gegen den Steuergehäusedeckel, da der Spanner eine Schwache Feder hat. Das Problem tritt auch nach Revidierung und neuere Ölkette+Spanner+Feder nach wenigen 10.000km/Jahren wieder auf. Wenn es irgendwann mal so aufhört, hat sich die Kette einfach weit genug reingefressen. Ich habe den Schaden jetzt schon bei fast jedem geöffneten M113 Kompressor gesehen. Allerdings kann die Kette auch mit dem defekten Spanner niemals überspringen - welch ein Glück. Bist du in irgend einem Forum zu finden? AMG Owners Club oder nem MB Forum?
ChristianCohn Hallo Christian, ich bin in keinem Forum oder Club zu finden. Ich hab mir das Auto nur gekauft, weil ich viel weite Strecken zurücklege und was komfortables, zuverlässiges und schnelles fahren wollte. Da bin ich bei diesem CL gelandet. Und hab es natürlich bis jetzt nicht bereut. Ich kann mir kein besseres Auto vorstellen was das Gesamtpaket angeht. Es ist jetzt 10 Jahre alt und außer Kleinigkeiten hatte ich noch nie Defekte oder Schwierigkeiten.
Every CL in his time had awsome (one of best in automobile industry) interier, the top existing technology combined with leather, wood, aluminium, carbon and other finest materials.. CL is my favorite car, but i am born in a shit country, so here only 0,001% can affort CL Mercedes.. on the other hand, in germany saleries are 10 times bigger, also cars are cheaper then here, so combine that, a good amount of people can buy used 10 years old CL, and live a life like a man. maverick is a lucky dude
Not to criticize but you would have accelerated significantly faster without a full tank and filled up after instead, but beautiful ride regaurdless definitely one of the greater models, good choice!
the out side temp came up from 19.5 to 22 ... ummmmmmm,, that brings up that the air is becoming warmer as much as you get faster and this is because of friction i guess
