It’s really the show don’t tell mentality of movie making back then. Put the viewer in the place of the normal person, let us see how the characters interact. This guy doesn’t care that he’s being burnt, he brushes off knives and bats, and he can forcibly grab a gun out of your hands before you can pull the trigger. He is throwing people across rooms and is on a mission.

I know the terminator being a good guy in T2 was supposed to be sort of a surprise reveal but the fact that he doesn’t kill anyone here and gets a cool song as he exits the scene made it pretty clear.
@vinesauceobscurities
@vinesauceobscurities 7 месяцев назад
Normally it would be out of character given the how brutal the entrance of T1's T-800 was, but it makes sense in the context of T2's T-800 being deployed by the Resistance, that the modified programming to protect Connor may have already affected its general behavior before young Connor would reinforce the no-kill order onto the T-800 unit.

What I love most is that this T-800 does not kill the gang members, but rather leaves them injured but alive, unlike his other one in 1984 that killed them without thinking, already making it clear that this Terminator is not evil, and even more so with the good song that they play in the background makes it more obvious and so he is the hero who commanded the resistance to protect their leader John Connor as a child

Yes, what makes the scene even more genius is when the T-1000 is introduced, the audience doesn't know yet about his liquid metal knives so when he stabs the cop in the gut just off screen, the audience would have thought that he just knocked him out with a gut punch and stole his clothes. James Cameron is a master of understanding the audience mindset and it shows 😁

@@Krystalmyth We know that, you're just stating the obvious. This was going next level - what's the world building of the script team like. We have to go by what the bar tender knew. The movie makers shouldn't make the average people to expect robots. It's not that obvious for the bar tender that this was a robot - not in an 80's world. Nowadays some might think that, when we have the experimental humanlie robots in test phases. Here, it was most likely this was a body builder, crazy on steroids and maybe something else. But he likely didn't trust the shotgun to stop the big guy, even if taking a leg out - is how I would accept his behaviour. Just there's also this stupid repeating movie solution: bring the gun within the hand reach. So not everything in this scene is scripted smartly.

When I was a 10-11 years old child, I've been watching Terminator 1 and 2, Rambo 1-3, Predator, Enter of the Dragon, Universal Soldier, Bloodsport and many other movies, filled with tons of muscles, kilograms of testosteron, hours of brutal force and no-faks-given scenes... soo I had my mini-gym at the backyard, trying hardly to pack my skinny body, I was climbing the trees despite my hight-anxiety, I was learning to kick a roundhouse kick, I even was thinking about having my mini gatling-gun. Those movies gave me a dreams. Now I'm 43 and I still learn martial arts, I go to gym, have my small armory (without gatling gun unfortunately). Only thing I haven't completed is tree-climbing. And I give no-faks about peoples issues or whatsoever. I'm the kid of the '80s. Raised on movies like this.

It's product placement. Companies give their stuff away and pay the studios to immerse whatever it is they want to market. It's why everyone on tv uses a mac computer, James Bonds various accoutrements, gadgets and car manufacturers are all paying top dollar for a few moments of screen time. Especially if the character using their product is "cool" like the Terminator. It can be well executed and seamlessly integrated into a plot or narrative like in this case, but can also be a little clunky and crass when crow-barred into a shot or conversation, out of obligation to some fast food corp for example. Even Anime movies and cartoons use product placement. Some animators have to draw replicas of the devices and clothing available in reality to advertise. It's trippy.

JESUS Christ in his natural form is God almighty consisting of potent strong literal holy fire raging from his very being. Any one ever catch the knife blade bending when Arnie gets stabbed? I watched a you tube video a while back where they thought they found a mistake on that part. Personally, I'm not so sure that was a mistake. I actually caught this years back after the movie came out on VHS. I had a pretty nice Mitsubishi VCR back then that would freeze, frame by frame with a jog dial, and did so without picture distortion. My friends and I were convinced that the knife bending was on purpose and not a prop flop. The actor thrusts the knife into Arnie pretty hard and I believe this scene purposely shows the hyper-alloy combat chassis in action. The knife pierces the human tissue of the cyborg and immediately impacts the metal-endo skeleton (combat chassis) underneath, causing it to bend. Amazing and authentic special effects detail set forth by James Cameron. The movie is just awesome!!!

How about the first time Arnold and the T 1000 fought each other? Did people think Arnold was the bad terminator again,and that Patrick was a resistance fighter? Or did people think they both were evil?
@itubeutubewealltube1
@itubeutubewealltube1 4 года назад
@@richiefranklin76 it was pretty obvious by the tone of the movie that arnold was the good terminator at the very beginning. Also, you immediately see the new terminator killing people and had the evil smile way before he fights Arnold. Also, the trailers and media interviews showed all of that but i never considered that a spoiler because of the above reason. The spoiler/twist of the movie was the terminator learning how to be human then killing himself at the end of the movie. No one was really expecting that. It was really sad and had everyone tearing up, but then when he gave a thumbs up everyone laughed and clapped. That was completely kept hidden from the public so it had a huge impact at the end. Also, the death of Miles was unexpected as well.

@Ed So When I saw T2 for the first time, I was sure Arnold is still the bad guy. The scene in mall hallway and „GET DOWN” left me shocked as hell... Also, there were some teasers not revealing that Arnold is going to be the good guy. One that I remember: some explosions, few flashes of T800 shooting guns and then Arnold saying „I PROMISE I WILL NOT KILL ANYONE”. That was brilliant! 😆

I was born in 92. I saw this movie around 6 years old. This has been my top movie since then (2nd one is the departed). I wish I would've seen the T1 first now so I could have witnessed this twists how it was meant to. Regardless T2 still had a massive impact on me. Fucking love this film.

@@julius43461well, probably not millennia from now, because by that point human language and culture will have changed enough that films like these would be even more incomprehensible to them than the Canterbury Tales are to us. Though I suppose subtitles might help.
