Just for fun race between a 2015 Overland and my 2005 Limited Jeep Grand Cherokee. This was a very serious race. :-)

Put some solid lash adjusters in that 4.7, completely different animal then. I put them in my 04 4.7HO and the difference in mid and top end was dramatic. Not to mention no more cold start clatter and no fear of kicking a rocker arm. Granted I am running 33's with 4.56 gears, my friends 2018 JK doesn't stand a chance, nor did my friends 06 WK with a 5.7

I have an 05 5.7 and my girl has a 14 v6. I SMOKE HER LIKE HERRING EVERY TIME. It's the transmission...the launch is vicious and it just pulls and pulls, tops out at 115 😪

Good race. That Gen 1 4.7L is a little low on HP but has great TQ. I think the GEN II 4.7L with 305HP and 335TQ would have beat it. The 2015 has a huge advantage with the 8 speed.

Odd, my 04 wj with the 4.7 seems like it does a hell of a lot better than that. The 5.7 in my 2010 Wk would have just ate that 3.6

I have the 3.6 first ever owning a jeep and i leased the grand cherokee 2018. So far I like it alot and yeah the hemi seems very nice! I test drove one. The v6 I have seems pretty efficiant for passing on the highway i never have to floor it to pass it floats nice to me.

I have a 2005 WK Hemi 5-speed and a 2014 Ram with a 3.6L 8-speed combo. The hemi is only slightly faster, but the truck stomps the crap outta the jeep on gas milage. 23mpg vs 15mpg.

Less "grippy" tires would have ZERO effect on the acceleration of the 2015, it doesn't have enough power to spin all 4 tires so really thats a non issue. You have more torque (2005) which gets a slight jump but the large HP advantage works in the 2015's favor very well

I am currently building my 2005 Wk limited with Hemi. I just received the OME HD lift kit and putting on new upper A arms from Rocky Road Outfitters, putting Wildpeak ATs for the tires. This is a great video

the 08 to 13 was. 305hp but my 99 4.7 smokes these 3.6

Not surprised the newer one won. Even though your tires are 33’s (right?) it makes a huge difference with stock gears & larger than stock tires. Took 20 minutes to get up to 60mph with my stock gears and 35s LMAO Good video, tho!

My tires are actually 32s and yeah, I'm not surprised I got the jump, but of course a newer one will pull especially all the way to 60! A stock older transmission just isn't as good.
