ATTENTION!!!!!!! 1.20.30 broke 0 tick kelp farms!!!!!!!!! I'm assuming this change is permanent since mojank hates 0 tick everything. But!! If there is another way I will let you know
Dude this helped SO MUCH. I previously made two other farms which worked in the same way but no one explains how do find a chunk or what to do if the farm breaks. You covered both of these questions so I'm expressing my gratitude that this helped ALOT 😂
Yay!! I'm glad I could help ya out :D That always bugged me as well with tutorials. I like to see how it works, know why it works, and how to fix common problems :D Prevents potential headaches all around :3 lolz
@@angel_4642 Glad you approve!! Tbh, it always bugged me when things wern't explained. So! I try to explain what I can without taking up too much of your time
Awesome design! It worked perfectly and when it broke your tips on how to fix it were exactly right. I'm using it to fuel a super smelter that I've built. Looking forward to other great content like this! Working in 1.21!
@@nikolasgrossen5085 Nice that's awesome! & with the auocrafter now, you could auto craft the kelp blocks >:D haha Glad you enjoy! Always happy to help
Just implemented this in my world following your build guide. I've built this a few times before but I like to see different folk and their style. The slabs were an upgrade for me from the trapdoors of previous designs, and I appreciated your inclusion of the chunk border calculation. Thanks!
@@skaardragoon Yay! Glad you enjoy!!! Yeah, using trapdoors to update the water is super noisy. Works the same, but gotta listen to the click clack constantly X]]
Just built this farm in the world I have with my friend. We’ve built a couple of these before with only 2 pistons/kelp, so this 12 kelp one is a LOT faster lol. Also, I made all 12 smokers composters, and after sitting in the area for around 5-10 minutes, I got 6-7 stacks of bonemeal, which was really helpful. Amazing tutorial, and works very well!
@@DX-dacat Yay!! That's awesome!! Glad you enjoy!! Another thing you can do now that there is the autocrafter, is attach a bamboo bonemealer directly to this, then autocraft the bamboo into wood XD easiest wood farm!!! XDD hahaha Been meaning to make more autocrafter tutorials around bamboo & this kelp farm, but keep getting distracted by requests X] Either way, thanks for sharing your experience!! That always makes me happy :D
Thank you very much, this is the #1 kelp xp farm on youtube in my opinion. I managed to make it slightly better by using the crafting block to make dried kelp blocks that auto feed into the smokers fuel slot making this a perpetual motion xp farm!
Glad you liked that! I wasn't sure if I should include it again, so I kinda rushed through it a bit. But now I feel better that I went ahead and stuck it in there :]
@OmLedu I'm serious, I really don't trust anyone's minecraft tutorials, but yours have 100% success rate, and just how thorough you are in explaining helps a lot too. I managed to build this but with 10 composters, so the lever issue wasn't a problem, lol. But the smoker version of this might be my next build, so I'll keep that in mind. Thank you! ☺️
@@Jinxmusicx Awesome!! :D That makes me super happy to hear!! It always bugged me when tutorials had 0 explanation, & then didn't even work... cause I would still have no clue how to fix it X] I'm trying to focus more on farms atm. I'd like to get em all did!! But they take me much longer to make than like redstone tutorials X]
Hey man love the farm I made it slightly smaller and I also split the farm five smokers and five composters each with their own double chest and it works great
I've seen several farms like yours which don't put blocks around the sand which I thought was weird. So I built one because it looked cool and aero dynamic like it could fly. It broke after 5 min and the water went everywhere. When I fixed it up all the sudden one side produced kelp, yes it had 2 sides equaling 16 kelp, where the other would not. However it kept making this weird beating sound which I could not find the source of. So I went with my old faithful and ramped in up to 16, cause I like me some kelp.
Yeah, 0 tick farm love to break if the floating sand crosses chunk borders or if it gets unloaded. It's a bug exploit, so gotta just afk it for it to work "/ If you even walk more than 64 blocks away it will break. Tbh I just use lava as fuel, and moss or mob farms for bonemeal so I don't have to afk anything. But I've had a bunch of friends ask me to make a design for them so i figured I'd try to help :D Sorry it's not for you, but glad it sounds like you found a kelp design that you enjoy
All I can say is thanks for solving my hours of headaches! I recently started playing Bedrock with my friends, having never been on it before. I used to absolutely love 0-tick bamboo/cactus XP farms in Java, and that was honestly my favorite part of the game before they were patched out. I got so excited when I heard you can make 0-tick kelp farms at the least in Bedrock, but every tutorial overlooked the chunk borders... I thought I was going crazy. I'll ask too, would you be able to stack a few of these on top of each other within the same chunk to make it work even more efficiently? Or should I just look at making several side-by-side instead of vertically?
Nice!!! I'm glad I could help :D I miss the 0 tick bamboo farm the most, to auto fuel my furnaces XD As for this one, you could totally stack them! Chunks are loaded from bedrock to build limit, so go nuts! Might be a pain to reset the sand if it explodes though, if you go super crazy with it X]
Did not know the chunk align trick.....sweet trick.......also....if this farm still works in the next update with the auto crafter....wud be sweet to add that to auto craft the kelp blocks and have them then feed the smokers.....
Yesssss very much so!!! On both those things :3 I used to use chunkbase to see chunk coords, but then realised i can just use my phone lolol And the auto crafter is gonna be perfect for stuff like this! I'm excited :3
@@erichann354 Nice, yeah you totally could make it huge! In theory at least :< Some people have had problems with it crossing chunk borders, while others have not >.> Some people even had breakage from building 2 in the same chunk o.o It's just so subject to locationality type breakage or even just lag breakage T.T I'd bet in a solo world though you could make it gigantic with no problems! :DD
That is odd I had my two modules break in a single chunk but when split in two different chunks each they work for me, I see so much inconsistency with issues with 0 tick farms that what we get for taking advantage of a glitch 😅
@@erichann354 Yeah haha it's so unstable XDD I've had success building 2 in the same chunk, if you use a single clock to control both of them!!! But even just locationality is so annoying. Build it here and it never breaks, build it there and half of them always break, build it somewhere else and it doesn't work at all lmaoaoao
Omg!! Whoops!!! The lever locks that hopper!!! XD Whoopsy doodles!!! Let me figure out a way to change that really quick XD can't believe I didn't notice!!
Heh, I'd need to take a look at it! Is it like: soul soil water with a gap in the middle with signs to block water. No water or soil on the edge of the gap to make it flow? Then down to a trident killer?
@@drakesharpe5667 It may or may not work. Typically the limit is 16 pistons ticking at the same time. Any more and it tends to implode from the game not being able to process the updates. But you can try!
I placed levers on the 2 outside furnaces, but I'm not getting XP. Is it because i used furnaces instead of smokers? The reason i did this was i had a different version of this farm and it had stopped working after the update. So i just used furnaces again
You'll just get xp when taking items out of the furnaces. & even then only the xp from smelting those item. The more items you remove at a time the more xp you'll get. But it won't be a ton of xp because mojang doesn't like us to have nice things and nerfed furnace xp. Smokers just smelt kelp faster than furnaces but both work the same.
@@nach.2306 XD hahaha yeah. On top of the "normal" floaty behavior, I've seen the sand do all sorts of strange things X]]] even duplicate itself on occasion XD
Glad you like!!! I just surrounded it in blocks in a rectangle i think XD Just leave the scaffoldimg bare, or have a door or something for access when it breaks. I don't think any of the redstone can be pinched or anything let me look 1 sec...
Okay! So there is 1 dust that can be pinched on the top where it connects up to the slabs. But other than that & the scaffolding can place blocks anywhere! I also used deepslate tiles & just surround the glass and left the corners blank so its not perfectly rectangular
Great video, especially helpful about the chunk boarders. I have a problem though. On my machine only the kelp on the two far ends of the machine works, all the ones in the middle dont. Its weird. Ive taken out and put back all the water, and replaced all the kelp, and triple checked i got the video steps right, but couldnt fix it. Any ideas where im going wrong?
Uh oh! I'm sorry it'a giving you trouble. That's odd that only the middle ones are breaking :o Let me think.... Could it be the water? Like are the middle pistons flooded? Or is it chunk aligned? Or mayybe lag.... but that's really odd that only the middle ones are breaking.... i would double check the water and where the chunk borders are first. But I'll experiment and see if I can make only part of it break. A friend of mine did have a problem 0 ticking a while back & never figured out why, but built it in a different spot and it magically worked. But that's allot of effort for just a maybe. Let me experiment & bit & ill get back to you with what I learn :D
Well, only thing I can think of is the water, & mayybe chunk borders. Or maybe: make sure the entire top under the redstone is slabs... but I would guess you've made sure about that. Water makes the most sense, so def check n make sure the pistons are waterlogged. The slabs allow the water to be updated with the ticks. Waterlogging the pistons helps prevent the kelp from not growing. If it was the clock or the redstone, none of it world work. If it was lag, I would expect sand to randomly fall through or the clock to be an incorrect speed. Chunk borders I would expect the sand to fall through on the chunk border. Kelp does randomly decide to stop growing, but that should be random. Not always the middle ones. There are a bunch of reddit posts talking about how they built multiple chunk aligned 0 tick kelp & some would rarely work while others rarely break. So location might potentially be a "random-esque" modifier. While i was testing just now, more kelp was breaking than usual at random times, but also in random places. So, it could be something with the latest updates. I would double check the water & if that's not it, leave it there (unless you need the materials) & try it again after another minor update. (Mainly because I hate wasting effort :< & there is always a chance it decides to work again on its own) Or if you really want a working one right now, try building another one somewhere else. Could even do a half size at 1st just to test it & see how it behaves. Again, since it's just the middle ones that break that is pretty odd and makes me assume its a location "bug" Also, 0 ticking is fairly unstable even at its best, generally some of the kelp will break every 5-10 mins. But that should be random, not the same middle section each time XD Not the best answer :< but I hope it decides to work!!! I hate when farms decide to give me trouble :
@@callumsmith4773 yeah haha i noticed that after I uploaded it oops X] pinned a comment, but that's easy to miss. Just move it to the left side of that block :D
@@OmLedu yeah I figured it out eventually lol, also instead of the levers on the front I added hoppers with mine cart on the top to auto load it makes it much more easier for console, obviously you don't get XP but it's a worthu trade off imo
@@callumsmith4773 Nice!! So sorry about that X]] Slipped my mind that levers power things to the side lolol & didn't even notice the hopper was locked since it was still smelting stuff X]
@@jhhhhy38 It works for some, doesn't work for others. 0 ticking is especially subject to locationality :< If you do build more in the same chunk, have them all controlled by the same clock. That seems to really help the success rate! Some people even have success crossing chunk borders building it really long!! Locationality is: getting a different result based on location. Some places 0 tick just doesnt work. Other places it works but breaks over time. While others still will never break lmaoao Avoiding laggy areas also seems to help in my experience. But ive even had long versions work perfectly fine next to other laggy farms. So it's really hard to predict locationality -.-
@@OmLedu ahh alr bc i wanted to build 6 of them in one chunk😅 so im gonna test to buld 2 first and hope it works And i also build it next the the most laggiest gold farm i have☹️ but i just made one and it already works perfect
@@jhhhhy38 That's a good sign!!! Hopefully they all just work >:D Luckily they are fairly simple so even if they don't it's not the end of the world. But definitely try to have them all share the same clock. And even try out crossing chunk borders! I have a friend who built one that's like 50 blocks long & it works just fine lmao Where as some people barely cross over the border and it implodes XD lmao If the current one works just fine, that's a good sign!!! & even if adding new ones or changing it ends up breaking it. It should go back to normal when you take the new stuff away ;] Good luck either way!!!! Are you using it for fuel to smelt them gold swordz? >:D
@OmLedu no, the swords are sorted out and go into the lava. the farm gives me 3200 ingots and 32k nuggets an hour so i dont have to melt them 😆 but im using alot on my supersmelter
@@bryanhibbard4178 0 tick might be permanently removed as of the last update. Seems that mojank has finally killed the last remaining 0 tick farms haha
How interesting! Abusing 0 tick is super unstable. I've seen a wide variety of strangeness when it comes to 0 tick farms. I would wager to guess that it has to do with the chunk recieving too many updates at different intervals. If you want 2 in 1 chunk & it's not working; I would try using 1 clock to control both farms.
@@JoshuaRyland mb i was alseeppp. Leave the torches that are going up to the top. Just break out the 3 blocks, torch, and repeater that make the timer. Then run dust from the remaining clock to the bottom most torch on the other machine. If that doesn't make sense, you can join my discord so that I can post a picture of it for you :D
I've always assumed that the nether plant farm is the best, or maybe the moss farm. But one of the members in my server tested all 3 & found that if u build the 0tick kelp large enough it actually does have the best rates :o I might still suggest a moss, nether plants, or even a normal mob farm though, for long afk sessions. Just because the 0 tick and or kelp growth tend to break over time.
Never mind I went through the comment thread with the other guy having troubles and tried putting the red stone on top of the slabs and it’s working perfectly! Thanks for the great tutorial!!!
What about the height of the chunk because the bottom 2 layers of my farm was built in another chunk and the entire farm didn’t work sand keeps breaking
How interesting!! Usually vertical borders don't affect anything. But 0 ticking abusing bugs I guess might be affected by that :o Did you get it working again?
@@OmLeduyes I think I did I raised the red stone loop that was built at the beginning of the video a couple of blocks up and reconnected it to the farm and it runs smoothly a few block break when I shut it down but none while it’s running
@@GregoryMadrid-wd4be Goodgood! 0 tick is like a double edge sword, super great till it breaks all the time. Haha I'll usually just run it when I need some items quickly.
It’s not working for me and I don’t know why, I’ve built it in another world and it worked just fine, and I double checked everything and I’m seeing other comments from just days ago so I don’t think there’s been an update that patched it. Does anyone think they can help me?
@@abrahamruff3855 uh oh, what's it doing? 0 ticking is highly subject to locationality & lag but let's go through the list & see... You're on bedrock. Chunk aligned the farm, no crossing chunk borders. Just built 1 of the farm, not 2. Staying within simulation distance at all times. If yes yes yes and yes Then, is the sand falling through Is the kelp not growing Or does it work but then break the kelp suddenly Or is the kelp not growing at all & is the area super laggy
Is it normal that the last piston on the right (front of the farm) does not activate even with the lever turned on or off? did the same as the video, and faced this problem
How odd! Let me think... Make sure the block that the dust next to that piston is on a solid block. If that's not it let me know! It's odd that just 1 piston won't activate
@@OmLeduI forgot to tell you at the time, I was farming with 14 instead of 12 pistons, when it decreased, it worked, the farm was very good, it gave me about 10 packs in 5 minutes
@@NothingButHackers Yeah haha 0 ticking is super unstable. Tbh it's def not my favorite farm, but comes in handy if you need some easy & super fast fuel or bonemeal :D
What specifically doesn't work for you? Ps5, xbox, switch, mobile is all the same; bedrock version. Common mistakes have been: make sure the redstone on top of the slabs is ticking. Make sure it is chunk aligned. & make sure there is no blocks under the bottom pistons so that the sand tries to fall when retracted.
@@jensvandenbergh275uh oh!! Did you build it inside a single chunk? Or are you leaving the area? If it's not inside of a single chunk that will happen, or if you go 4 chunks away from the farm, leave the game, or go into the nether that will happen.
The normal pistons act like they are breaking a block, and the kelp isnt growing, ive built it in both creative and survival and cant get it to work... Is there something im doing wrong?
That can be from 3 things. 1: the redstone on top of the slabs isn't ticking. 2: The water hasn't been placed on the slab, piston & kelp 3: lag, or not using 3 redstone torches to trigger the pistons. If you're sure it's none of those I can try to figure out another fix for you
@@OmLedu I've tested everything, there is water on the slabs in the pistons everything, I got the Redstone on top of the slabs and it's being powered, and used 3 torches as well
@@irllydontcare6953 nope! That shouldn't matter at all. It still giving you trouble? :< I'll try to come up with a solution.... but I'm really not too sure, if the slabs have redstone on top & are ticking. Slabs are flooded. Pistons are flooded. Kelp is flooded. I would have to guess it is a timing issue.... maybe try: on the clock, set the repeater to a 2 tick delay. (Click it 1 time, so the torch moves 1 slot)
@@gridlock501_7 How interesting! o.o I didn't think burn out torches was any different! Ima have to play around on java and see! I also don't think you can 0 tick on java, but I'm not 100% sure :]
Uh oh! It posted this 2ce, so just incase you don't see my other comment; i would try connecting both to the same clock. Like break 1 of the clocks, & run dust from the remaining clock to the bottom most torch of the other one. My guess would be the chunk doesn't like the spamming of updates at different timings.
