These are excellent explanations and the way you're doing it. I am French, and your voice is perfect. Great dictation and approach. Really, I do appreciate this series on Avalonia. This will help me a lot in developing my embedded application on Torizon (Yocto based OS) on a Toradex's Verdin SOM i.MX8M Plus with a 7" capacitive touchscreen. Thank you very much.

I recently started learning C# and WPF development from a beginner level and this video has really helped me observe how to develop a thought process and make useful observations.

Not sure if someone has already mentioned this, but that 1st graph, shows loudness peaks and averages. It's called the Distribution Graph.

It's worth noting that, seemingly by default, the Button elements use a lightened version of their parent's Background colour. I had the parent Grid element set to use White, which made the buttons "disappear" as their Background and Foreground colours were too light to see.

Thank you Sir, for this awaiting episode. I am always checking to see new, but one thing to must junior developers like me we found it difficult to structure our project at the beginning, i mean when i see people creating folders, like Services, Helpers, Base, i ask myself why? Include that please so we can be good in Architecture for our projects. Thank you

Its amazing how easy it is to compile a windows application to Linux. You just have to publish the project with linux-x64

Got my feet wet and learned the proper techniques to write line of business WPF apps from your series years ago. This new series is wonderful so far. Only thing I would have preferred to do differently from this vid would be to use a DockPanel in lieu of the top level Grid for top, bottom, and its last child fill features. DockPanels feel less verbose in XAML to me when the Grid layout is simple. That being said, I never knew that you could inline the column/row definitions directly as an attribute for Grids making them less verbose. Up until now I've always been setting the column/row defs as child elements to the Grid. Probably toward the end of this series, but something I would like to see, is how you would develop installers for all the specific OS platforms. I have familiarity with packing up an app into an MSI using WixSharp for Windows, so I would like to expand my knowledge on how to deploy a platform agnostic app framework like this to the various OS platorms. Including all the complexities and decisions one must make around whether to deploy as self-contained, how to minimize deployment size, etc.
@AngelSix
@AngelSix 2 года назад
Yes I can take a look next at declaring the same top level as a dock panel and cover that. Of course installers will come once this first project is at a point we can sign it off and make an installer before moving on to the next one

How would you center the title text if the amount of buttons on the sides wasn't coincidentally the same.

Good video, but one question "What NuGet Avalonia package was loaded in your project? Because I can't use Rectangle in Xaml? Avalonia.Controls.Shapes?"

Thanks for this awesome series! I guess it is too much to hope that you'll get annoyed by the existing plotting options and write your own library capable of exporting vector graphics? Asking for a friend.

How does this compare to Maui? I've built an app for both android and ios and i'm publishing it in these days. But it was quite a challenge, had many issues with the build tools and integrating firebase cloud messaging, graphic bugs etc. I'm gonna try this out...
2 года назад
Thanks Luke, great tutorial as always. I was wondering, are you planning on going the MVVM way for this project or just the good old code-behind? I'm asking because Avalonia has this relationship with the ReactiveUI MVVM framework (Avalonia.ReactiveUI), they use it in both of their tutorials (ToDo List App and Music Store App). And whenever I come back and try Avalonia I get lost in it. I'm guessing it's not necessary to use ReactiveUI in every Avalonia project, but it does seem like a good fit for the kind of project you are starting here (with all that data displaying live).
@AngelSix
@AngelSix 2 года назад
MVVM almost definitely but will see how it's implemented. I wrote my own a while ago it's pretty simple to do but if they have a solution already we can look. I'll make sure to explain it well

Great content man, looking forward for the next , however I’d like to know your thoughts about MAUI and how it fits compared to Avalonia UI
@AngelSix
@AngelSix 2 года назад
Yep I'm sure I'll do MAUI videos too. Not holding hopes for it however as it's still based on Xamarin from what I hear
@obinnaokafor6252
@obinnaokafor6252 2 года назад
@@AngelSix the only connecting Xamarin and Maui is the Xaml Markup language - which is quite disappointing. I was expecting the team to go fully writing the UIs in code. Notwithstanding, Maui is a rewrite of Xamarin Form.
@AngelSix
@AngelSix 2 года назад
I'll probably do videos on MAUI also

Are there any tools out there which will generate the xaml for me? I'm an old school mfc/winforms tools programmer. And hand editing xaml to make an UI appear is completely the opposite way I want to work. I'd like a designer tool to make XAML for me. IMHO humans are not meant to hand edit xml.

Can I ask, base on experience , would you rater choose WPF instead of winform when making application in , I just recently got into C# but I want to know your aspects in both platfoms

I think in this case it would be better to use DockPanel instead StackPanel or Grid for the top level.
