I tried that upgrade but I had a different style wheel cylinder on my ‘01 2500 QCLB . I’ve talked to guys that have done it and they’re very happy with the results
Not a chevy guy but I think they fit the late 90s Chevy 3500. Part # is 37337, same for both sides, fits perfectly. I'll check my receipts. I'd recommend the updgrade, very happy with it still.
If you cannot get your drum off still, jack up truck put on jack stands. Chock the front wheels, Remove rear wheels, put one lugnut back on 1/2 threaded up. Now put your truck in drive rev the engine and slam on the brakes, believe me that drum is coming off. I did this because my star wheel was froze up and no way to get the drum off. Make sure you put one lugnut back on or you will be chasing your drum down the street.
Tried it, if your adjusters are installed backwards it only makes the drum tighter. Trust me I tried and then went to the BFH. Couple turns on the adjuster in reverse(they were installed backwards) and the drum came right off. Thanks for the advice though, definitely a sound technique to employ when the last mechanic didn’t say F it good enough.
Bailey Miller thanks, cannot confirm that because 01 was the year the next body style came out. If you have this body style yes drums for sure. If you have the newer body style I can't say for sure never worked on one.
Bailey Miller I would strongly believe you have the identical set up. On a side note watch those adjusters. People frequently install them backwards which ends up reversing the direction to loosen the shoes up.
Some of the later production ‘01’s came with the disc brake rear ends. All the 2500’s (with manual trannys) and all the 3500’s came with the upgraded Dana 80 rear end for the 98-02 trucks. HTH
