Thanks a lot for taking the time to make this video, it shows all the little details that other videos wont... But this details really made the difference between struggling with this job and doing it sort of smoothly. Thanks!
Dude, you save me hours of frustration. Thank you so much! One comment I will make is that you don’t have to cut the plastic noise reduction covering. If you’re patient and careful you can slowly pull it off. That black goo adhesive is resilient and doesn’t lose it’s stickiness. You can just stick the plastic covering on it again. One last mistake I made when reattaching the door opening latch. There are two protruding pieces of on the base of it that need to go into two holes before you put door panel back on. Sounds simple but an easy thing to overlook.
THANKS TO YOU!!!! I just replaced the door lock actuator on the passenger side front door of my 2005 Rav4 (258K miles and still going strong!). It was a tedious job, but thanks to your video, I had complete confidence that I could do it. Thanks for posting this video! Peace.
Thanks for the walk-through. Ordered a replacement actuator on Amazon with next day delivery for 13 bucks. As Slipknot mentioned below, the only hard part was getting the lock cylinder screwed back in. Took a beer break and eventually figured it out.
Thank you very much for uploading this dude!! I was so frustrated doing this job! I almost stopped halfway so many times haha I really appreciated your tips and step by step instructions! I got it done, but it didnt solve my issue!!! Aaaah!
As far as door lock actuators go, this one is a bit of a bitch to do. Getting the exterior lock cylinder bolted back on gave me issues until I realized that interior assembly had a little nib at that end that needed to be slid in place. Appreciate the video, helped me along the way when I got stuck.
Hi. I have a RAV4 2002 model. Is it the same process for this year? The front driver door isn't responding to the fob. Would this be the actuator or the switch itself? Thanks
I would look at my Toyota for reference but I sold it….perhaps it’s the actuator gears position at installation or something. I can’t think of why it would be inverted….the switch is inverted…but I would think you can’t connect the wires to switch backwards…switch connector clicks one way only….without my car I can’t really do a reference look….diy at your own risk
@@car-u-fix-it8070 Yeah, but girlfriends or wives can be utilized for more than one thing. Put her to some use and have her hold the camera phone for you. The only tough part with doing that is keeping them silent.😄
You seem to know what the hell you're doing with this, was wondering if you had any idea on my problem. Door switch will lock the doors but not unlock them. Not even the hatch, which is a pain in the ass as my key doesn't work in hatch either. Happened after some rain got on the door probably inside from leaving windows open. Any ideas on where to start besides the actuator? Great video and thanks.
I am assuming it’s your door switch. Driver side. In my case it wasn’t the door switch, just the actual door actuator and a nightmare to replace…I would suggest to sat with the door switch….good luck…..diy at your own risk
@@car-u-fix-it8070 Haha, I replaced the door panel /switch already, that was my first thought too. Was wondering if it was the actuator would it still lock the doors but not unlock, kinda figured if that was done it'd wouldn't do either. And yeah I'd probably take it in if it comes down to the actuator lol. Thanks for the response my man.
@@car-u-fix-it8070 i reinstalled all parts together and fitted back but when i close the door to check it won't open again .. i tried from outside and inside but no luck .. do you have any idea how to open the door (Fwd passenger door) ? 😭
The grace and peace be with you from the lord your God our father and his son Jesus Christ, thank you! But how many of you know about the good news repent and believe in the gospel because the kingdom of heaven is at hand and crack your word the Bible and continue blessing you! Slow I did mine in 10 minutes, Actually the actuator it self hardly goes bad what Actually happens is the rod gets bent, I've fixed Atleast 20 actuators just by bending the rod back straight
Not for me. It was the actuator. Replaced it and everything works great. The trickiest part for me was reattaching the inside door opening latch and making it snug.
Nice how to video....start to finish, about how long did it take ? You paused the video a few times so I was just wondering. I need to do both drivers and passenger side.
