In this video, I'm showing you how to take apart this Canon 600D (Kiss X5/T3i) camera. This is an old video that I never got time to finish, so it might be slightly different from the way I use to make the tutorials now.

Fascinating. Amazing to see how complex the construction & components are, even on a budget camera.

Thank you very much. This helped me bring back my cannon 600D after a bad accident, where I tried using an old film flash with this camera, and something broke and the screen stopped working properly. Apparently when I shot, the flash sent current through the 3.5mm jack into the camera, and triggered something where itthought it has an HDMI device connected, which made the main screen black except when turned off (it shows cleaning sensor). detaching the ports fixed it, though a capacitor popped after turning it off first time with connectors removed. Works good now :)

Had a very odd thing with my 600d where i left it turned on and the LCD stopped working / corrupted the SD, literally bricked the camera. Changed SD for a brand new one which boguht the camera back to life ... but still LCD non responsive. As a final resort I bought some contact cleaner and ... having used this BRILLIANT video tutorial to dismantle the camera (found all cables perfetly plugged in) ... I took the entire LCD, camera back and cables apart. Sprayed contact cleaner on those two LCD cable connections. Boom!! Perrfectly functional again. Thank you thank you thank you!!! Your video just saved a 600d! Very odd coincidence me leaving it on for the first time ever for a few days and the LCD suddenly not working. Anyway, just writing to say thanks! Great video!

@@CameraRestore I had another thought ... metal dust in the HDMI port. (Metal sculptor) When i followed your video i also used contact cleaner in teh hdmi port and blew it out with an airline. Perhaps there was a possibility of a short in the port that made the camera think an HDMI cable was plugged in and then disabled the LCD. Thanks again for the video, really helped.

HI thanks for your feedback. Ive did it in the past and to be honest I don't like it much, keeping a black bg you don't have any light bouncing back into the camera and also gets dirty very quick, I keep to believe you can focus more on what I'm doing. As you can see, I do prefer bk bg 😛 Cheers.

Is it possible to replace the shutter from the front of the camera? If not, it seems that user replacement of the shutter isn't possible because of not being able to calibrate the sensor.

hello . Is very good video , how would you fix a power board for a canon 600d that won't fire anymore. I can't find the smd fuses, see how to recognize them? I have 3 eos 600d hs, thank you
@CameraRestore
@CameraRestore 3 года назад
Hi thanks. Without schematics is really a pain fixing any camera boards, for me is time consuming so other than fuses, ceramic capacitors and some power converters I prefer to replace it. The 600D has a poor power board, not many fuses, most of the shorts are protected by chips. There are some fuses that are printed with 00 or R00, have a look on that ones... I have a SMD fuses list that canon use, if you want I can send it to you. Not on the 600D tough.

@@CameraRestore thank you for your valuable reply. indeed it is not easy and as I didn t find a workshop manual, I took measurements with my multimeter to compare the values, I have 3 eos 600d Hs, 2 eos 700d, and 5d mkIII and mkII ERROR 30, I challenged myself to fix them. sensor changes are easy for an amateur like me who does this for fun and friends, (i have already repaired 15 canon eos in error), but fault finding remains complicated. thank you for this valuable information. I found the list for the fuses but not for the 600d nor the 700d nor their location. thanks again

Try an external microphone. If problem solved, means that your internal microphone is faulty. If you still have the problem, might be something wrong with the mainboard. Good luck!

Hello Friend good afternoon. I would like to ask you a question. I have a canon 650D and it has stopped working for me. I have checked 3 different batteries and it won't turn on. What part could be the problem? Ignition plate maybe? I'd like to fix it, the camera is 8 years old but it doesn't even have 3000 shots. Is a common fault is ignition board damage on these cameras? Do you suggest me buy a specific piece?. Thanks for your video. I liked it a lot, I subscribe. A hug from Spain
@CameraRestore
@CameraRestore 3 года назад
Hey glad you like my videos. Sorry to hear about your camera but in order to understand what's wrong, you will need a complete check-up. You cannot make a repair just by guessing. It's true that quite often the DC/DC power unit may fail but not always. If you don't have any basics in electronics it might be difficult.

@@CameraRestore Could it be a board that has a large capacitor?
@CameraRestore
@CameraRestore 3 года назад
I have phone repair background as well so it would be easy once you know where to look. The best thing to have is a dummy battery and the amp meter setting on the multimeter (I'll put this on my list of videos to make one), in that way you can check the standby consumption, and not only, if you have a short somewhere you may detect it easier. Have a look on Ebay in your area or Aliexpress. also if you have an extra battery you can make one by yourself. For example: If you have a short on the power board, you will find it, its enough to disconnect it from the other boards. if you have a short into the mainboard and by disconnecting the power board the short disappears, you know the motherboard is the cause. So you ether repair or replace. Repairing camera boards is quite difficult because there are no schematics available to public.
