If it’s so easy, why don’t you just get certified? 🤷🏻‍♂️
@fieryweasel
@fieryweasel 2 года назад
They are required to have some combination of degree in a related field and/or three years if experience. So while the test doesn't require you to touch a tree you presumably would have done that if you legitimately have the experience or related degree. A doctor's board doesn't require them to touch a human body, but it's come up prior to that point.

There isn't a lot of legitimacy in the tree industry, Just look on the forums and the way the community talks to each other. I have enough experience and could take the test (and pass), but it is just to get the shiny logo. I didn't even have to trim one branch, let alone climb or operate a bucket truck.

Sounds like someone can’t pass the test... 😂😂😂 It’s funny to watch you attempt to diminish the value of being ISA certified. Like another comment already stated, there are strict field work requirements that have to be met, to even apply for the test. And there are so many aspects to arboriculture that don’t have anything to do with running a saw... it is a vast industry with tons of moving parts.

Being certified is only a volunteer requirement. And when it came to costliest disaster in urban forestry history. My peers certified in state pesticide application understood how they had to apply Imidacloprid by mid-may the latest. We soon learned it was because Imidacloprid performs efficacy only on the first two instar stages meaning even Trunk injecting product after May is about as worthless as pissing on a tree While a great great majority of my fellow is a certified members just advise their customers and municipalities elected officials by just repeating facts specific to managing Dutch elm disease which the two had absolutely nothing in common between each other. It finally took a Stern warning from is a certifying body who immediately spreading misinformation or face losing one's certification Wild fuel age for many local municipalities just making up excuse removal of every public ash tree in their collection was being done to help prevent further spread of emerald ash borer. Resulting in these towns borrowing some 10 years into their future in order to remove and replace thousands of trees. While unaware of the present-day facts how 100% of Nursery produced and sold trees arrived with truck already to deepen root ball better than specifying in contract to excavate down to freeze original first grade level before Excavating from field now on their second or even third replacement trees same total amount could have protected a select number of already-established ash trees for the next 100 years. The fact here in Chicago some sixteen years later after emerald ash borer first identify little buggers that remain low longer have enough unprotected trees to ever reach fatal infestation population levels again bust today only requiring low-dose inoculations every 4th or 5th Year which by the way retaining several ash tree species in one's collection

More sour grapes. There are experience requirements to sit for the test. "I have a hard time answering that question". The answer is no. Easy.

While I agree with you that ISA certified /=/ good worker, ISA certification provides a range of knowledge that is vitally important to the industry, and there is a separate test for climbers as well

You know, there are a lot of dedicated arborists all over the world who have put in a lot of work in order to perfect their craft AND earn the ISA certification. I don't know one person who has gotten the cert who isn't much more knowledgeable than the average "tree guy" and is often among the most adept in ANY group in the industry. Trying to undermine that for the ones who take their career seriously enough to take that test because you're either too lazy, or unqualified is total shit. You're hurting your own credibility though. Why not just be a used car salesman?

Waste if time. Some of our employees do in the winter because they have nothing better to do. And they get a raise in spring start-up because we get to put that fancy ISA logo on the vehicles.
