This has to be the best free DAW there ever was/is. It is LOADED with features and very intuitive / user-friendly. And thanks to these tutorials I have been able to start making music in no time! Thank you Tracktion Software!!!!! I just made my first 2 songs in the last few days. They don't sound amazing (need work on mixing and mastering) but one has to start somewhere!
Thanks for the clear tutorial. I would like a mind like your involved in writing the manual, which focuses on the what and not the how that reduces it to mere advertising. Well done!
@@scintillam_dei Wth... His comment had nothing to do about "best music", it was about "appreciating the guitar skills" comment, which indeed is weird since that guitar playing is beginner level, which was what koala707 correctly mentioned.
@@apolicum It doesn't matter what he didn't say. I can say whatever I want. Welcome to the real world where people are not subject to your preferences. Thanks for wasting my time.
@@scintillam_dei Of course you can say whatever you want to say, but it's just ridiculous to start talking in a topic about something totally irrelevant to that topic.
Thank you for your great advice and training. I was successful in most of the stuff. However, when i record, only one tone like Piano is coming thru, cant get any other sounds to record, all stays on piano. how do i change this to different sounds?
my (akai) MPK mini when hocked up to it (it has the input and output for it enabled) and I can't get it to play any sound through pressing any of te keys for the keyboard. how can I get it to record?
I'm having an issue. If you could help me I'd be really thakful. I selected the input and started recording, but a message popped up saying that the file couldn't be created. Does anyone know what I should do? Thank you
I have the original version of Traction released back in 1910 when Henry Ford owned the company. I'm trying to get my new Yamaha keyboard to show up on a record, so I can record it to a track. So far, after going through all the steps to add my midi device, I have the input VU meter on the track that shows it's getting the input, but when I hit the START RECORD button, everything stops, and there's no recording of said track. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. I've watched a bunch of videos, and nothing covers this type of stuff. Any suggestions on this?
I have a AKG P120 and the Behringer UM2. Everything is plugged in. I have my headset which is plugged into the PC directly. I divided in and output and have it set to "Windows Audio". I can't plug in my headset into the interface otherwise I would plug it into the interface aswell. I selected and input ("Input Channel 1") on "Track 1". The volume bar reacts but I can't hear myself talking nor can I start recording
It is not stereo. I was recorded with one microphone. To get a stereo image would require using two microphones or applying some sort of stereo effects like chorus, delay or reverb.
I have a question. I have waveform 12 pro and I've tried to record an audio clip with my microphone. I can hear the live input monitoring, however when I try to record and playback my audio I hear nothing. Any tips?
I plugged my Casio psx3100 into my PC hoping to use the "Upright Piano" vst pluggin after installing Waveform Free 13. However I only hear my own Casio piano sound and not the "Upright Piano" sound I was hoping for. To play the "Upright Piano" sound, I have to use the virtual keyboard on my computer screen. What am I doing wrong?
@@YgorCortes OK I figured I'd just try to look for some VST FFT plugin. Googled and found a free one from voxengo called Voxendo SPAN. Works totally fine, just add it as a plugin on the track and you'll see the frequency plot.
My issue is I record a guitar track on track 1, then a second guitar track on track 2 and when im recording its in sync. when I play back its no longer in sycn and the second track is out by half a second or so . Manually moving the tracks to sync with one another is pain in the ass. How do i fix this issue ???????
@@johnkelly8070 sort of , but the timing is out slightly by like 3 milliseconds maybe less. It's noticable when you play fast palm mutes the the track is not 100% in sync it's like 98.9 percent and it sounds shit
When i load an instrument its shows the signal bar moving when i press my midi keyboard but there is no sound coming out , what do i need to do to hear it ?
Can someone help? I am a rapper so one track is vocals and one is the beat! How can i make my voice sound more crisp and also when I try to render and export to an mp3 it only downloads the beat???
So im trying to put my mixer into my laptop and recording through waveform but it won't pick up even though I have all of the drivers installed. Can anyone help?
i think theres many reasons first reason is that your volume is actually down second reason is that your output device is not the one youre using third reason is that there's some glitch so just restart your device those are the reasons i could come up with
Indeed, there are many things that could trigger this. If you're still having trouble please get in touch with one of our support agents - tracktion.zendesk.com. Thanks!
You can do this by adding the "reverb" effect. You grab the chevron with the plus sign from the top right to the end of the channel strip in the track. Clicking on it will show you options for how much reverb (echo) you want, what the delay is, etc
So I'm doing this, but when I play what I recorded theres no sound. Even though the sound bars/metering are moving. It did record, but I can't hear anything when play it back
hey, did you ever get that problem solved? I've got the same problem. I ran the test for the audio out and it works fine. I can even play their demos, no problem. But when I try to get audio out while I'm playing it doesn't happen and when I record, it won't play back. It would be nice to be able to hear what you playing through the program. I also have monitoring enabled in the program. Can you help?

I am recording from Focusrite 2i2. So I want it to act as stereo track from 2 instruments. When I am setting 2 instruments in single track then it records 2 separate layers. How can I set it to be single (stereo) layer?
i am getting the error - Recording is only possible when atleast one active input is device is assigned to a track. Also the software is not reading my Shure mic.
I mean you can install an app called Voice mod which has the ability to relay your voice to you while speak, but have the output set to headphones rather than speakers because if your mic picks up what your speakers say there will be an auditory feedback loop where it becomes a distorted horrifying shriek that becomes unbearable to listen to. Hope this helps
Yes, you can hear your own voice. Enable "Life input monitoring" in Waveform, and plug in your headset to avoid feedback into the microphone. You can see "Live input monitoring" at the 2:38 mark in the bottom of the screen near "Treat as Stereo Channel Pair" and above the blue line that syas "Input Gain"
Hi, I'm very frustrated. Is there no way to record vocals? My microphone is set up, my headphones are set up. I did the test thing. It shows the green bar going up and down when I speak, but when I record, there is no wave formation for my voice and no sound? What am I doing wrong. Thank you.
You'll need to make sure the track is record enabled with the correct device selected. For help please get in touch with a support agent at - tracktion.zendesk.com
When I record it takes a few seconds before it starts recording. Major lag. Really weird. I will push record it was already recording me prior to pressing record. Really strange I have never seen that before. I can get a recording but I have to wait till it catches up before I stop. Is there a fix?
I figured out the issue. I downloaded a program called voice ai. It caused crazy stuff here. Pressed record it already recorded me before pressing record. All of a sudden my comp crashes several times. It popped up saying the program was always running. I just now deleted it (tho a fun program lol) it tapes fine now. This was about programs in conflict with each other. If anyone else has weird issues like that see here.
Hi, when I click on record I get this message: "Recording is only possible when atleast one active input device is assigned to a track". How do I assign a input device to a track? Thank you.
Llnchy there should be an option the settings to fix that. Idk shit about recording myself, I’m just telling you what I’ve heard from other producers, if you want I can send you the video that talked about the latency and shit
What's the problem if the guitar rig plugins 5 and 6 are not connected to the daw, if you want to connect you have to open the guitar rig from the desktop first, and after that open the plugin on the daw, if it doesn't open guitar rig on the desktop, the plugin doesn't work it works at all, this problem has been going on for 3 days, and before that it was safe and there were no problems, please give me a solution, thank you 🙏
On the right side of the Properties panel you'll see a 'Punch' button. Once enabled you can use the usual record button or 'R' key on your keyboard to punch in/out.
If you are not getting any audio please email us at www.tracktion.com Please include your version of Waveform and a brief description of what you are trying to do.
To monitor yourself while playing, click on the input icon and look in the properties panel (middle bottom) for the option 'live input monitoring'. Its off by default as most dedicated audio interfaces have zero latency monitoring options built in - and if you utilize those, you don't want to also hear yourself playing though the app. Super easy :)
