Highlights of Brighton & Hove Albion v Crystal Palace, Leeds United v Manchester United and Southampton v Fulham. Studio guests are Terry Venables, Alan Mullery and Alec Stock.
People spoke much more naturally and freely on TV back then. The modern fashion is to always keep super cool. Anything else is considered unaaceptable. I miss the way people weren't afraid to show real feelings and passion.
Love the way Brian Moore catches Terry Mancini's eye in the titles and gets a knowing look in return. Mancini looks like someone who enjoys a good laugh.
Just think, Martin Tyler is still going strong! He commentated on the likes of Best, Moore, Marsh etc. Now *that's* an experienced commentator, unlike the "newbies" who've found their way into the game today...
Must've been alright for those living on Goldstone Lane, living in warmth & watching the matches free of charge. Like having executive boxes. All due to the fact that the East Stand was an uncovered terrace. Would have ended up being disappointed when the club (controversially) left The Goldstone Ground.
I am a palace fan of 40 years standing and I'm not too sure how the rivalry came about.I do know there was a spat between the two clubs which culminated in Mullery throwing some notes to the ground and saying'palace aren't worth that.Dont know if the rivalry grew from this alone or something else, but the rivalry is still going strong today.Usually rivalry is two teams with close geography, not in this case.
